I was 11B (infantry) from 1980-1984. When it came time to reup, I asked my reenlistment NCO about becoming a firefighter, 51M in those days. There were only about 750 firefighters army-wide and that included active duty, reserve and NG. Also, E-6 was as far as you would go. Once you made E-7 you transferred to another branch of engineers. So, I got my honorable discharge and spent 29 years with a municipal fire department. Retired in '15 as a driver/engineer.
Greg Grant I started last school year at 17. I had all my credentials besides the actual licence. I waited until I was 18 to take the test. I past. My high school partnered with our community college which gave me the opportunity to train while being a 17yr senior
So I want to be a firefighter I took my cpat, did ride along etc. I also want to join the army. Firefighter is what i want when i get out. Can I guarantee a spot as a army firefighter?
k1llzOn381 I’m a jr firefighter for my local Fd and a guardsmen. Firefighter is a reserve only MOS now. You would have better luck with 68W MOS combat medic because it gives you EMT-B training, focus on the BLS aspect of firemen.
The Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard each have a firefighter like* MOS. *Firefighting is a core aspect in them but you spend a lot of time fulfilling other duties
12m is army army reserve Air Force. Navy gives you the certification and training but there’s not really a firefighter MOS, everyone has to know the protocol because you’re on a ship together. I’m trying to get in this year as a 12m but it’s rare to see it pop up. Do MEPS and everything then tell them you want to keep checking every other day with your recruiter or try to have them work with u for a spot in there because they will try to push u to get another MOS just so they can hit their numbers
Seeing this video made me have flashbacks of the days when I was in the Air Force as a firefighter. I been out for 3 years and I see some similarities and differences in the way the Army and Air Force does things judging by this video. Be safe out there man.
hey im a explorer firefighter in columbia south carolina i really think you for showing the tower the tower is like my home away from home. I spent so many hours in the dirty classroom and learning from actual firefighters in the tower
Hello ,awesome I was doing volunteer for a department for a lil while and would trained someone needed to go around the structure to clean before making a Entry or to check Parameter
I did this stuff but in the Marine Corps. The cool thing about the Army is you get to do more of this structural fire fighting stuff. We were more like the Navy and did mostly aviation rescue which is a really cool specialty and I prefer it over structural FF.
When they pull the triple layer load off the back of the truck bring the nozzle and first 50 ft coupling to the door it just makes it easy on the nozzle ff to advance into the structure. And bleed the air out of the line I didn’t see them do that.
@@dashawnglenn8819 There are only about 200 active duty 12M's in the Army, myself being one of them. It is a rare contract, yes. However don't give up hope of getting one if you really want that MOS. Any 12M contract no matter the component is, in my opinion, a no brainer to sign for. I love my MOS and wouldnt trade it for anything

Hello there, I just graduated Army BCT @ Fort Leonard Wood Missouri and I’m a 12M. Next Friday I’ll be heading to Goodfellow Airforce Base in Texas, I was wondering if you could give me an insight on what to expect or tips fir my AIT.. thank you
Jake Adams that’s what I’ve heard too but i just happen to walk in the recruiters office and the right time right day, pure luck I guess. I’m in the AIT fire academy right now at goodfellow air force base and we’re constantly getting new 12M outta basic so the jobs must be available just gotta be consistent and be on the look out for it. Harass your recruiter that’s what they’re there for. Make them work for you, don’t be scared.
I'm a firefighter in Michigan, and from what I know, white helmets are Chief Officers. I noticed you have a white helmet, but I don't know how that works with the military. Does a firefighter with a white helmet in the Army designate a Chief Officer, a red helmet designate a Company Officer, and then the normal black helmet firefighter as it would in the civilian world?

Thanks for your service keeping USA Free and Safe......... BUT hurry up? hurry up is all you should have to say. your Firefighters should be the ones communicating amongst themselves for PPE checks, water, irons etc. there was no sense of urgency with those members, and they even had handouts from the instructor staff (irons by the door waiting for them). There were definitely simple things that had to be gone over in debriefing that could be used to cut down on times (try before you pry, get masked up while standing around waiting for irons and water, and for god sakes some communication). They could use some more practice, which is why the recurrent training is done. I do see what you're getting at though, I just don't think that the instructor should be babysitting the crews, at least not on the first day evaluation.
I think both of you are right, the culture of the fireservice calls for both a firm hand but also team player statments from captains of the line. Captains have tough job in that reguard in my opionion. These guys were at least trying, personaly I cant blame anyone who is trying. After action discussion would be the place and time for the hurry up comments to be heard but out in the feild during training encouragment and pointers keep heads cool and crew moral high. Frusteration can manifest itself quickly with too many "hurry up!" And "move, move, move!" Style comments from command. I can attest to this, it is not fun and no one enjoys this. In closing personaly I agree with you both.
It's not real working for the government, hybrid ff only respond to fire alarms. The day starts with online training, and more boring training. Very very low call volume

Not possible. It is required that you must be 18 years old to start EMT training.
Greg Grant I started last school year at 17. I had all my credentials besides the actual licence. I waited until I was 18 to take the test. I past. My high school partnered with our community college which gave me the opportunity to train while being a 17yr senior
Greg Grant I know so many people under 18 from different departments to hit trained and go on calls...
Greg Grant you can be 16 and take an EMT class here in Connecticut. You just need to be 18 to take the national registery. So it is possible.

Can this lead to a job in the fire departments in jersey
damn american fire fighters looks badass dude, i wish i could become one lol
Darth Revan keep believing I am a Firefighter/EMT And I have wanted to be a firefighter since i could think and speak
I just enlisted as a 12M, I swore in on Monday, and I ship October 9th. Do you have any advice for AIT?
Do you have any advice for getting 12M? I’ve heard it’s a hard MOS to get into. Are you going reserves or active duty?
Hilary Gomez Is it hard to go 12M for both or just AD?

hi nice vlog thank u for shering your job
How many fires did you respond to in your career
Are you a Lt. or Cap? Noticed the white helmet
i know in volunteer civilian departments, white helmet usually means chief
or asst chief
Declan kot I'm with you brotha, my department uses white to indicate a chief, then red for captains
My local departments are all :
Chief- White
Captain- Red
Lt- Yellow
Basic FF- Black
My department:
White helmets: Chiefs or Asst. Chiefs
Yellow or Black Helmets: Firefighter
Red Helmets: Captain or Lieutenant
9:57 tactical firetruck 😎
I see you have a white helmet, are you a chief in your unit? How long did it take you to become a chief in the military?
Do firefighter jobs open alot?
Frost Official no
how did you get this job . My recruiter told me there wasnt anymore army firefighters
Nick Whitley well he freaking lied to you I'm in tech training and we have army of all ranks at our fire academy which is at goodfellow afb
Nick Whitley Yea some recruiters lie to you to fill quotas
My recruiter told me the same thing... said it’s very rare and close to impossible to get this mos
It’s extremely rare. It’s pretty much a unicorn mos.
After being told over and over that it was close to impossible to get, I just got it! Shipping out to basic training May 7th. I’m so pumped!

88 GM
good insight

I’ve been looking for a Army firefight channel
are you reserves??
Did anyone else notice the Carlos bakery can at the beginning 😂
