My dad has worked for you guys for 35 years here in Colorado always busting he’s ass and never missing a day of work even when he got sick he would always be there making sure his family was fed and bills where paid he taught me what a hard working person is and showed the meaning of hard work does pay off. I wish you guys would show more appreciation for your works because with out them there isn’t no waste management

Same thing is happening to my dad right now 30+ years never calls in and all they tell him is “step on it step on it.”! My town has grown by at least 50% and they refuse to hire another driver instead their solution is to step on it.

impressed and thankful to our WM trash pick up driver ( Monday morning, Eastwood Village route, city of Irvine, California) ❤ He almost always emptied the trash bins clean, and made the covers closed afterwards... this has been very helpful especially in the situation of raining days, and some smelly trash bins attracting flies. ❤ Thanks to our currently trash pick up driver, who has been working for our route for several months/ close to a year now.

🎉 I watch this video. I had left a comment 2 years ago. I finally got in . I went to go get experience at a mom & pop garbage company. Once you get with Waste Management. We got 11 LRC life critical rules. That people lost they life from doing. So you got to relearn everything the WM way. The Best Company I ever worked for. I got 35 years to go California life.

I applied for the residential job near me advertising 22hr 5k bonus, no exp required, just atleast a class b with airbrakes. Did the interview today, the manager said I would only get the truck where you manually load the trash in the back by yourself and I would not get a truck with a side hydraulic arm for well over a year. A CDL is worth alot of money especially now in 2022, who in their right mind would take that position where you have to get out of your truck nearly 200 times a day to roll the trash bin over to the rear lifter, and then drive forward to the next bin. Thats ridiculous. Not sure how WM expects to get new drivers if this is how they expect them to start. Only someone who doesn't get sun burned who wants to touch 200 trash cans a day would find this driving job acceptable. Wasted an more than hour worth of my time in the last 10 days with my initial application, the phone interview, then the actual interview where I only find out 15 mins in that I would not get a hydraulic arm truck. Go find somewhere candidate with a cdl willing to work 22hr as a manual hauling trash "driver".

Talking on our 2 way while driving (i take full responcability for that) and forgeting to put my seatbelt on in a parking lot while backing up so i could get back out and shut corral gates. I forgot. Didnt matter. 10 years with no accidents. Was fired by Eugene Billings in Indianapolis. I loved WM and still do but I still struggle with what was done to me 6 years ago. I work at Republic services now and am doing great. Been driver of the month 2 times. Won the skills rodeo challenge my first year and was nominated for national driver of the year this year. I have read through all of these comments; is WM as negative as people are making them sound? Is this a job where there's no family/work balance? Most likely to not see my kids much? I don't have any family where I'm living, so wondering if I would be able to swing this job & still be able to be a mother to my kids.

In order to make over 100k your going to have to do overtime. Most routes are long and hard. We have women working here too. Normaly you start at 530 and work to at least 330. Some time I get out at 730 pm. If you want the money the work is there but the work does not do its self. By the time you get done you are beat. If you have the energy to work hard for 12 to 14 hrs then go home and work there too the my hat goes out to you. When I'm done with work I'm done.

Been thinking about it as well. Garbage doesn't give you any lip. Went for an interview a few years ago and they never even came out to get me for the interview. I was early. Waited an hour. Then after they still didn't interview me. So I left. Hour and a half wait. Seems if they want someone, they would be punctual. Like they would expect their employees to be. I was always taught that you show up like you want the job, dressed for an interview, and be early. And like you, I drive city bus.

I'm currently a school bus driver. Been in that line of work for 3 years and 1 month. Air brake, passenger and school bus endorsements with a clean driving record and current DOT physical certification. Used to driving a class b vehicle and maneuvering through small spaces and backing in already. The school bus gig pays slightly less (about $4/hour) than the trash truck and there are no benefits where I'm from. I'll only take on another really physical job if I'm guaranteed to make at least middle class income. If they're only paying $25/hr. to wake up 3 hours earlier in the morning and bust my body up for over 10 hours per day or longer, they can keep that. It may sound good to a younger man but I'm getting older and I want to be able to move around by the time I reach retirement age.
