2019 Camaro SS, Secondary Cat Removal And Exhaust Sound After, It Got A Lot Louder!
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 вер 2024
- In this video we remove the secondary catalytic converters on the 2019 Camaro SS. It actually got quite a bit louder even though there are still 2 cats left on the car. We didn't mess with any sensors or anything because we're trying to hold on to the warranty for as long as we can (won't last much longer lol). So this is a way to make your Camaro SS louder without having to tune the car and with keeping the check engine light off. Thanks for watching! Subscribe for more videos on this car and others!

Sounds good. My 19 got much louder after deleting secondary cat & muffler, long tubes, high flow cats, and cam
This one will be getting those mods soon. 😎
no shit? XD
Thats overkill lol
Sometimes it forgets to pop but when it pops is sickk
Yeah, I've found that you have to do a full throttle pull over 4k RPMs and then let off before it'll cackle real good.
Sounded like my truck straight off the cats 😂😂
Lmao!
@@1018Video did it fucking not though 😂. That's weird as hell 😂😂
I am impressed how little restriction GM has on this exhaust
Very nicely designed stick exhaust and it even has a nice xpipe included. Definitely louder but idk if I would want to chop up the nice stick exhaust that way
Sounds cool though
This is a great way to get more sound from the Camaro's without having a check-engine-light and without messing with any sensors. This car still had a warranty at the time of getting this exhaust work done.
Good vid, I’m getting my camaro after military boot camp
Glad you liked the video! Lots more coming soon!
Better hurry they are stopping production in 2022 camaro is gone for good.
@@jbonecamero13
I'm sure Chevy will have something fast still, or they have a plan to replace the Camaro with something else. I'm kinda excited to see what happens.
jbonecamero13 2023 bruh
Chief Rico Oh lord, you’re going to be one of those E1/E2s 😂
Those secondary valves under the car are important, they activate when the afm kicks in (four cylinder mode while cruising) it might throw a code if you unplug those or pull that fuse
Oh yeah we're leaving all the valves alone for sure.
It doesn’t, it’s similar to the gmcs, it just closes and opens, no code on mine, it’ll sound like a helicopter in 4cyl mode
@@sixohslow3417
Well that's cool, no CEL for those? What if they go bad, lol.
Today were going to find something to cut to make this thing louder. Fkn right haha
Yes, exactly, lol.
Those transmission shift points sounds so fucking beast l! 😍
Does sound pretty good huh.
Fuck yes, dude! 🤤 Glad I clicked on this video. I am actually considering doing modifications to the exhaust on my stock NPP for my 2016 Camaro 2SS.
I took my x pipe off my 2016 Camaro ss it helped make it louder
Might have to try that. This car will be getting headers and no cats soon though too.
I want to get a hellion twin turbo for mine. That’s where the real power is, I want to take the second cats off but can’t living in California
@@timprater8520
Yeah California suckssss on how strict they are with their laws and stuff, I wouldn't be able to stand living there. And this car will probably end up with an LT4 supercharger when it's all said and done.
What you replace the x pipe with
@@BlackPanther1SS I had a straight pipe but now I have the corsa mid pipe that delete the second cats no cutting just bolt on and it sounds good
One mustang driver disliked this video!😂 badass car!
Probably. 🤣 Thanks for watching!
Is it still okay for state inspection with the removal of the secondary cat? Sounds awesome by the way.
I'm not 100% sure on that, I know that it doesn't effect the sensors on the car anywhere, cause there are no sensors after the second cat.
It’s legal. It’s not a “catalytic convertor. It’s a resonator. Your good. Cut it off lol
@@andrewbrister7200 it is a cat for California standards
@@al151No it isnt for CA standards, because they do not have a plug in them or anything. They are just resonators. No vehicle has more than 2 catts.
It will not sound better with them off. but also put some straight pipe in there near the muffler wherr the exhaust pipe gets squeezed down by 65%.
I’m getting the work done in my 2013 Camaro ss rn
I bet it sounds good. 😎
@@1018Video got it done sounds good when you get in the gas burps and all
@@chrisduncan3447
Niceee. 😎
any difference in drone since those resonators are right under where you sit?
Nope, inside the car it still sounded stock.
Don’t forget to do the same in the rear pipes that is flattened,,, it’s located near the muffler
We have longtube headers and a full 3" exhaust on this car now, I'll be posting the install video soon!
How did you guys weld it. My muffler shop told me it was going to take them over an hour each side to do. How did you guys weld the top of the pipe since theres no clearance up there?
We slid another pipe over the stock one and welded where we could, no leaks!
Takes 30 min max to weld both "if" the welders are any good.
but does it make more POWAAAAA?
I have 2019 as also. I want to do this does it through a check engine light or did it void warranty?
It didn't turn on the check engine light, and I don't think it'd void the warranty, because the only way they'd be able to tell you did that is to look under the car in that area. But still, I think that even if they did find that they wouldn't void your warranty, Chevy is usually pretty cool about stuff like that.
They could deny a warranty claim on the exhaust. That’s about it. Manufacturers can’t void an entire warranty (unless you tune it) without some very good reasoning. Chopping out two secondary cats won’t be an issue. Odds of the exhaust needing warranty work is highly unlikely. Noise statutes and emissions are the larger concern when removing catalytic converters. But that highly depends on where you live, how strict they are etc.
Appreciate the video. I have the Borla ATAK axle back installed on my 19 SS and have an appointment to get this done soon. Should be a good balance of volume, tone, and cost while keeping the car under warranty.
By law it doesn’t void warranty unless they can prove anything done actually caused the failure.... Look up warranty laws.:. An on another note, it only voids exhaust warranty. Aslong as cats are in place warranty for everything else is good except exhaust warranty.
Secondary cats is ok. As long as you’re not removing primary’s
I have a 2023 Camaro SS, I eliminated the muffler, the last one, this adds hp or decreases them, I had heard the famous back pressure. What could you tell me?
Back-pressure doesn't matter anymore, that use to matter back when cars had carburetors but with fuel-injection back-pressure is irrelevant. Also by removing the rear muffler you did increase your horsepower, you also removed some weight from the car so it is faster than it was.
Get rid of the raspy X-pipe and go straight pipe or H it'll make the car beefy, deep.
X-pipe makes the purr though.
"nothing else on the car that restrictive"??? are you good did you not see that big ass suit case of a muffler you got??????? thats the most restrictive thing on the car
You do realize that when the exhaust is in "sport mode" it completely bypass' that muffler like it's not even there, lol. The muffler is only used in "stealth mode" or when the car is in 4-cylinder mode.
Hey man i got a 2020 camaro ss with extended warranty. I now found out that u can’t even mess with exhaust with warranty. If i remove cats and put headers etc, does my car notify the dealership or how do they go about “voiding the warranty”..
If you touch any sensors on the car it will automatically notify the dealership, as soon as we took the cats off this car we got an Email that said "you have 24-hours to bring the car in for service or your warranty will be voided". So that's when we lost the warranty. 🤣
I have a 19 2ss and was thinking about doing this. Is there any drone while regular driving?
There is absolutely no drone while driving it. Plus if you have the active exhaust you can put the car in Stealth Mode and you can't even hear it inside the car in that mode.
Good video. Any drone?
Not at all while cruising.
Did you notice any change in the way the exhaust pops? I want a little more loudness but dont want to lose out on the pops that it gives off stock.
It didn't hurt the popping or cackling any, if anything it made the pops and crackles louder. That's all in the tune though.
If I remove primary cats on a car I’m financing do they take it away from me lol? Stupid question but I just got my first car so idk
They won't take the car away from you, but you will lose your warranty if you have one.
Try to change the pipes where they narrow banded under the differential
I wonder why they did that.
1018 Video
Clearness for the diff.
@@FerasDishli
Might need to leave that there then, lol.
I have a 17 SS and wanna get the same thing done, how much did it cost or could you give a ballpark figure?
Around 80 dollars. But that depends on where you go.
is this better then leaving on resonator and deleteing muffler and second cat only
Deleting the muffler on these cars will make it pretty loud, we left the muffler on this car because this car has active-exhaust.
Why are you leaving on stock mufflers ? I’m a Mustang guy and just bought a 2ss and plan on deleting muffler but not sure if it’s bad lol?
Stock muffler is an active-exhaust muffler, we wanted to keep the active-exhaust so we can make it quiet when we want to.
@@1018Videoif I decide on muffler delete . Later on if I reinstall the muffler do u know if it’ll bring back the active exhaust or will the active exhaust be gone forever?
@@Tency777
The 'active exhaust' actually can't be removed, when you remove your stock muffler you have to keep the valves attached to the car and plugged in or you will get a check-engine-light. Our tuner said we can unhook the active valves from the muffler and zip-tie them up under the car so they can stay plugged in and keep the CEL off.
By doing the secondary cat delete does it make the car too loud if you’re daily driving it? Is there any drone or raspiness?
No, it's really only louder when you floor it, there's no drone at all.
Thanks man
Did it throw a code after the delete?? I have this exact camaro 🤙🤙🤙💯
No, it didn't turn on the Check Engine Light, because the front cats are still on the car everything worked out just fine.
2:28
Note the transmission and the differential use a different fluid. There is a heat exchanger inside the diff.
Transmission fluid is: AFM dexron
Diffs fluid is: 75W-90 with slipp modifier
Good luck
Thanks for the info! And thanks for watching!
I have a 2018 and wanting to the same thing how long ago and miles have you put on since and most importantly has the engine light came on yet
We drove the car like that for about 5k miles and the Check Engine Light never came on. The car has more mods now though.

Can you still pass smog inspection even tho you still have the main cat?
I'm not sure on that, they don't do smog tests where we are. I'd do some research if I were you.
Can you put back the stock cats for smog later?
I'm sure you could.
Does that affect emissions tests? I'm in Georgia where you can't renew your registration if the tests fail.
I feel like it may change the results of that test, lol. I wouldn't do it in your case.
Anything after the o2 sensors won't affect the emissions
@@mudargamer
I guess that does make sense, but I'm not sure why they'd put another set of cats on the car for no reason, lol.
I've been in Ga my whole life and I've never had any test
@@MansaX Atlanta does emissions test.
I’m going to be doing this to my camaro ! Just wondering how much did this run you?
Depends on where you go to get it done. It was 80 dollars for us.
What part of AR do you live in? I live in NWA!
NEA.
Will it pass smog still
I'm not sure, you'll have to do some research on that.
It doesn’t show check engine light ??
No, not with just removing the secondary cats.
Isnt it illegal to remove the catalytic converters? Im sure this won't pass any inspection state
Probably, lol.
Does cutting the secondaries void the warranty?
Yes, if they find out you touched any of the cats your warranty is immediately voided. I don't think the secondary cats will turn on the CEL, but when we took all the cats off after this we immediately got a CEL and Chevrolet sent us an EMail saying we have 24-hours to bring the car in for service or the warranty is voided.
@@1018Video what about the people that was able to get the x pipe that deleted the secondaries before they was discontinued?
@@taijhstevens7864
They voided their warranty if anything to do with emissions was messed with, deleting the secondary cats basically makes the car put out more emissions, which voids the warranty.
Did you well the 2”pipe ?
I'm not sure what your question is.
Will this pass smog
I'm not sure on that. If you live somewhere where they check, you might not want to mess with your catalytic converters.
Does this needs tune on a long run?
Not with just this mod.
Did it feel like you lost any power/low in torque?
End*
Not at all, if anything it gained some low-end.
Anyone here recommend a break in period at a certain amount of miles on the car before doing this??
I know people who have done these mods at under 1k miles on the car, I'd wait till you have at least 500 miles on the car before you start modding it.
@@1018Video yeah that's what I was planning on. Getting at least 500 miles on the car and start with the mods. Thanks
Does it make your exhaust higher pitch?
Actually makes it sound deeper.
@@1018Video cut my sec cats off today, its louder but the drone is a bit worse,,,, didnt have more pops like people told me ;/
Is this emissions legal?
Someone said that removing the secondary cats doesn't effect emissions, but I'm not real sure if it does or doesn't.
@@1018Video yeah love hearsay... yes have to ask state inspectors or emission peeps
@BRUCE LEE they have. NO resonators they are 2ndary cats ...its for carb reasons
People just get some headers and a x pipe !! Don’t tune and you won’t void your warranty
You need a tune if you get headers lol
Zach not if you run catted connection pipes .. I’ve had My long tube headers and xpipe with rotofab on for almost 2 months now and I have no check engine light...

does deleting secondary cats make the mpg worse ? i know as owning a v8 gas is the last thing to worry about, but i do daily drive mine and i don’t hit the gas often when i’m heading to work cause my area is surround by cops
It will not make the mpg worse. It doesn't cause more fuel to be used it just burns less of the fuel in the exhaust pipes because the secondary cat isn't there.
