I went to school part-time then had my mobile business part-time. I was making nearly as much working nails in the evening (and lunchtime at my office) as I did at my regular job! I moved, and now have a brick and mortar salon to work out of, but still part-time. Going full-time in 2021!

I’m curious, what state were you doing mobile nails in? I’m practicing nails now in the hopes that I’ll be able to go to school after covid is done and I think mobile services could be great for me to start out with.

I am a full time nail tech. It was hard in the beginning. I work 5 days a week and keep regular hours everyday. My advice treat this like a 40 hour a week job.

I quit my full time job and began doing nails full time. It was scary but scared money don’t make money 😝 first week I made $700. Call it beginners luck but that week was the only thing that kept me going cus I knew I could keep doing it! Trust in yourself!

I’m at the salon 11-7 , 5/6 days a week. I also clean commercial spaces at night. Currently have 2 offices, a car dealership and 4 banks. Some days a sleep very little. It’s not easy and sometimes I just cry from being tired but know it will be worth it. Living in Ny with the cost of living so high does that help but it motivates me to do what I have to do to make my dreams possible.

I'm a SAHM with not enough income to pay for daycare (until kids are old enough for school). I plan to start doing nails part time evenings 2-3 days per week plus Saturdays in 2021. Once I've built up my experience and clientele I'll be moving on to full time. I have to have a solid clientele though to make that transition work because it has to pay for the cost of daycare and still make me some profit to be worth it.

This video came at the perfect time. I was just talking to my friend a few days ago about quitting my job to do nails full time. The hardest part is the fact that I need the money (I’m a single mom) so that transition affects more than just me. I don’t mind starving for my dream, but I can’t do that to my son. So I’m trying to figure my game plan for the next few months because it needs to be done.

I'm moving into booth renting for the first time in a new city I just moved to. Luckily, I've found a gal who's willing to let me use her space as well as all of her product, which is such gift for me to not have to invest in EVERYTHING right off the bat. I'll only be working Saturdays to start, and this is a good reminder that not only will it take a little longer to build, but I just have to stay consistent and get in there even if I don't have any clients!

I had a job going into Lockdown, Then I was retrenched, this all while I was a part time nail tech... I was trying to save up money for my Young Nails course but having lost my job, my dream went down the drain a bit.... So I decided to go full time and start my business. I'm in South Africa, most of the Lockdown I could only practice on myself and my best friend, it was and is extremely difficult, my husband had to start providing for everything, at the moment I have about 7 clients, the struggle is real, it's still hard, I try to stay positive as best I can, my husband is really supportive, but I have to push through, hopefully there will be a miracle soon. Thank you for keeping us hopeful.

I am a part-time nail tech. For me I like having the one on one with my regulars and spending time with them because theyve become my friends. It works for me. I do one client every day Monday through Friday. I’m super comfortable and I rather keep it this way because I have my regular income for bills, and nails creates my fun money. I like doing it as a hobby rather than depending on it for income. Everybody’s different but don’t forget that this is also an option. I live in a small town and it’s not realistic for me to have a full-time clientele without relocating!

I’m really struggling with this. I have an opportunity to work at a salon that already has some clientele, the thing that scares me is the $165/wk booth rent. I come from pure unabashed poverty and the fear of not being able to pay that plus make money for my own bills is crippling. I want to do it so bad but this fear is something else. 😔

How long should a you take per client? What’s a good goal to get my time per client down to? How long should I take to do each step? That’s what I struggle with. I take FOREVER, but my work is good. I have a ton of people wanting appointments but I can only take 1 a day after my regular job.

The most relatable biztalk for me so far. I'm a full time student, also tutoring part time and in nail school. Growing my social media (@bibidoingnails) and being asked very often to do people's nails. So, the plan is to become a part time nail tech next year, please keep it up with the tips and advice!

what advice would you have for someone having to totally start over? whether it be because of covid or any other situation? My salon was destroyed this Monday due to a fire in the unit next door. Im starting completely from scratch, ive found a new salon that'll be ready in April but, starting again seems so daunting. I know that many others may be in similar situations due to covid so any advice would be awesome.

I am from Germany. Lucky me I have a nice studio in my house to work. I opened Okt 2019, not much clients ( countryside, little town ). Then the Virus came and lockdown, so I couldnt work. in summer 2020 a few clients, maybe 4 or 5 a month. Then the second lockdown came and it was forbidden for nailsalons to work, but I did it anyway. Now I have 8 or 9 clients who come and they are very happy I do their nails. The problem is I cant do it openly, so my lovely clients bring a friend who brings a friend and so on. Very slow. Most time they come 18 or 19.00 o clock when it is dark. The other nailtechs here are too afraid to withstand our crazy authority so I am lucky since now ;-)

We are shut down again. Clients have scattered. I have 22 or had 22 reg I saw every 2 to 3 weeks. Call in's regularly. Filled my 3 to 4 days. Now. I have 5 that stayed. I pray with the vaccine my old clients cone back and the phone starts ringing again. Great advise because I have not had to rebuild in like forever.
