Great stuff. Thanks for putting this out. I do have a question that I was hoping you could help answer. I do a lot of portrait photography and there are always shots where one part of the model is out of focus or blurry and I can't figure out if it has to do with depth of field or my focus settings. For example, I have a shot where the model has her arms outstretched in front of her with her palm to the camera, signaling a stop motion✋️. When I focus on her face, her palm becomes blurry but her face is sharp. When I focus on her palm, then her face becomes blurry but her palm is sharp. If I want to get the model's face and palm both in focus in this case, will a higher f-stop do the job or if thus a focus issue? Any insight you could share on this would be greatly appreciated.

Correct me if i'm wrong but, Depth of field does not depend on the focal length but on the magnification. You can't compare the depth of field of an 85mm lens and a 14mm lens if you photograph your subject from the same distance. Example I tested at home: I had almost the same depth of field with a focal length of 35mm and 100mm with an aperture of f/4, framing my subject exactly the same. :)

the boat in the picture tells us nothing about her...how do you know she is an immigrant....that she arrived on that boat.....that she dropped to her knees to embrace the new land?..you do not know all that unless you read the story!!!!!
This formula doesn't work! 1. You have to look at what you want in your frame. 2. For the same picture, what is in the frame, so smaller the focal length so more blurred out. (Because a tele lens puts everything together and a wide angle lens pulls everything far away.) 3. So smaller the F-number so more you blur out... And that, don't understand most professional photographs! Because they didn't study Mathematics like me! Get this in your brain or just google this subject!

How do i get more depth of field in my macro shots? I imagine that has to do with the circle of confusing formulas
