    Learn how I was able to take parts from a cheap electric longboard and retrofit them onto a super small portable penny skateboard. This electric skateboard is super light and can fit in my backpack so I can bring it just about anywhere! Best of all, the modification is very easy so anyone can do it! Enjoy!

    You might wanna change the bearings with reds or something, I'm sure the ones that came with the cheap Longboard aren't very good and changing them with nicer ones will make it go a lot faster

      Chocolate.Gains on an electric skateboard bearings don't really matter, as long as they don't break you'll be fine, if you have a really weak motor then using reds or abec 9s will let it reach top speed faster, but ain't no body got time for weak motors

      Just need speed cream on the stock bearings. No need to swap them. Lube is all it takes (That's wat she says !)

      The swag board bearings aren’t that bad, they are greased. The swag board also 400$

    Good thinking. Not DIY from scratch, but DIY nonetheless. My only concern is with drilling the new truck holes so close to the old ones. Have you had any issues with this, at this point?

    Your video inspired me so I'm building one right now, I bought a used chinese electric skateboard for $50 and a knockoff pennyboard for $10, I need to replace the bearings and bushings, the final build cost comes to about $88, with a single hub motor. I cut the tail off of the pennyboard so it fits in my backpack properly! :)

    If the size of the penny board was too small maybe take it up a nickel board, it's still rather small but it gives you the space you need for drilling and would've saved you the hassle of moving the trucks

  • @gixxer4646
    @gixxer4646 7 років тому

    I would have moved the front one forward, as on the back one you have the entire weight and also steering with it, in time those holes will crack in that plastic from to much pressure and stress on the back of the board.

    can you somehow use the kinetic energy of the front wheels and some how charge the battery? it sounds stupid but I was just thinking about it.

    • @Insertchillnamehere
      @Insertchillnamehere 7 років тому +5

      Yogee Bear not a stupid idea at all, electric cars use a similar concept call regenerative braking. I'm not sure how or if it would be worth applying to a skate board but it's definitely not a stupid idea.

    • @jackstancil5770
      @jackstancil5770 7 років тому +4

      Yogee Bear you could, but it would mean that your board would go slower. according to the laws of physics, the kinetic energy you take from the wheels will subtract from the kinetic energy of the whole board. Also, you would lose more energy to friction by the mechanism you use to take that kinetic energy. It would be practical on something very large, but would not be practical on the longboard.

      Jack Stancil YEAH sCieNCE

    • @BatuOrhunBilgic
      @BatuOrhunBilgic 7 років тому +1

      Regenerative breaking is kind of that

    • @deanlalap
      @deanlalap 7 років тому +1

      Not at the same time. The overall effect is that you'd be losing energy because some energy escapes as heat, friction between the wheel and ground, friction within the motors, etc.
