I think Rhino is definitely one of Peter’s more understandable villains. Deadpool once planned a birthday party for Spidey while inviting all his villains who came to fight, except for Rhino who brought a cake wanting to enjoy the party instead.
Fun Fact: Eddie Brock, Harry Osborn, Reed Richards, Luke Cage and even Jessica Drew all have children while Peter doesn't, he's literally that one High School friend you meet 10 years later after a High School Reunion and they're still in the same place they were before.
Another love interest. They ditched Carlie Cooper and this one will get ditched too. Yeah, it was dumb for Peter to not stop two villains that were clearly causing havoc and they just go, yeah sure. Zeb thinking: Genius. Ugh. goodbye Peter Parker.
this book sucks and frankly i am so tired of marvel treating are favorite character Peter parker Spider-Man like garbage and frankly like paul this other character is also garbage and treats peter like crap, and marvel wants us to believe this chick is Peter new romance partner. What a load of crap that frankly at this i am so tired of this nonsense that i would rather have this book be cancelled and dead and never ever comeback period at least in my opinion.
They really want us to believe in this relationship when one of the premises of the Spider-Office at Marvel and one of the reasons OMD happened is because they thought having Peter married made him older and less relatable for people, so they backtrack 20 years of Spider-Man comic history for BND and all the crap after. Now think about it, if the Spider-Office and editors hate Peter Parker being married, do you really think they are going to allow any relationship with him to actually progress? No, they won't, so this is just sand in the eyes of fans. Fuck them.
1. How Peter is being told these things by his date feels like something Aunt May should've said to him when he was like, what? 19? You'd expect this Peter to figure that out eons ago. 2. Screwball wrecking havoc in the City with Rhino, is like seeing seeing IcePoseidon sitting in the car with Darrel Brooks. I know Screwball can be a Nuisance, but she's literally just an IRL Streamer. She's on the Border between of Annoying and Illegal. Rhino is a Convicted Felon. 3. Also, why would Rhino and Screwball care about a Rando's Date? If you're going to commit Mass Havoc, why would you care if you're wrecking someone's date? You're wrecking everyone else's day and life! 4. This date could've happened with Mary Jane back when Zeb Wells started. It'll be better and make more sense, since she has History with him. A Rando Scientist wouldn't give him the time of Day, a he's lucky he got a Second chance, let alone wants to kiss him after what he did!! But A THIRD? CHANCE!?! She needs a Therapist, not a Boyfriend!
Im glad you can see the faults within this story too, there were a few defending it for either shay being ‘hot’ or because Peter got a win in this even tho it was so poorly written he didn’t even deserve a ‘win’
Does it really matter it's not canon to me. It's probably going to be retconned later. And Mary, Gwen and Black Cat go back to being the only love interest.
@@mnstash I feel like people who defend it are reading it for its own thing, and haven't really experience much in their lives, which can cause them to think it all makes sense, and therefore "good". This may make them defend the story It's like how some people think a Professional Fighter can take on Multiple People, because they're "strong and knows how to fight". That's my thoughts on people doing that
@@HumanB312 Well, as you said, it's not Canon to you. we're also talking about Spider-Man Writers. Even some of their worst retcons took years to come around, like Sins Past, it took 20 years for a Retcon. The Story is currently canon, and still within Spider-Man's story until further notice. Anyone who brings up this story will be valid, just as anyone who brings up Norman being a 🍇ist for Sin's Past is valid (until it wasn't cause Nick Spencer retconned it)
1:53 peter having his own personal nurse is a good idea objectively I guess and a nurse can teach peter how to balance responsibilities to the public and his personal life
I feel like we been here before in regards with the relationship responsibilities that Pete suck at. You think Pete would learn but nope, like everything in modern main series spider-man it’s has to regress Peter in order to be like this
9:26 this peter has both lifetimes memories in his head both the spider totem life and the life he had when he was severed from web of life and destiny and only cindy moon was bitten
I was honestly annoyed like Peter goes to two villains to stop because he’s on a date are you kidding.it feels like a Saturday morning cartoon.thank goodness zeb wells is leaving soon because we need a better writer.
nah cuz Marvel editorial has the potential to make this girl way better than Mary Jane and Gwen Stacy combined. Let my boy fall in love and be happy 😭🔥
I actually kinda like that Peter went out and confronted them as Peter. The fact Peter has been doing this his whole life and the reason he doesn’t get wins is because he lets everything happen. Realistically I think it’s about time he tries to prioritize a relationship because his entire life has been trying to hide himself as spider-man and protect everyone while pretty much destroying his social life, at least that’s what seems more human to me. I think it makes sense that people wouldn’t wanna be besties with Peter when he never commits to them. No one wants to hang out with Peter because he ditches all the time, ditches class, ditches loved ones, ditches dates, etc. hate Zeb Wells but this one I kind of like. It makes it more realistic to me imo because people irl usually don’t have a strict moral code like that, they do things that break their general ideology lightly time to time. Plus Screwball isn’t really a villain, just a pesky annoying streamer, Rhino is a misunderstood monster, etc, I think it was a good time if any for this to happen and I count it as a win for Peter because the scenario makes sense to me.
@@mnstash strenght be with you, thanks that you are willing to suffer through this. I was not able too. Think i switched to Usm at issue 3 getting 1 and 2 in backorder was a pain. But i thought my wife would like me reading that book to her at her grave instead of that asm drivel. We appreaciate you. Thanks.
no i can tell pauls gonna steal this one to. The look on the waiters face says it all. Thats meant to be Zeb Well saying "yeah yeah enjoy it while you can...."
I got a better idea. Get rid of Paul and bring MJ and Peter back. The real MJ wouldn’t leave Peter in dirt for some guy she met and is she even the real MJ?
Wasn’t he sort of dating another red head with a spider themed persona, but neither knows their real identities. She didn’t care much for Peter but is more interested Spider-Man, unaware they’re the same.
IDK, I kinda liked the idea that Peter let Rhino and screwball go. I get that Peter believes he has a responsibility to prevent another "Uncle Ben incident," but there is such a thing as burnout to. Honestly, from a reader standpoint, Peter's dates being interrupted, cut short, delayed, etc. to go fight crime has gotten really old. At least he stopped Rhino and screwball from whatever spree they were doing, and if all it took was a taking to, then that is fine with me.
I have a question. why is Peter such a loner. If he is having so much trouble with the whole superhero thing why can't he just call his fellow hero buddies for help, hell Miles lives like 15 minutes away from himand his friends with majority of the super hero community so it wouldn't hurt to ask for some back up if he as something going on like an important job, a job interview, a special date with a woman he really likes, or him just wanting a break. I'm sure they would understand because they all know how difficult his life is. Plus there are so many Spider-Man themed heroes in Marvel Peter can start a spider family. I get marvel doesn't want to copy dc but still bro put some weight of this man's shoulders.
Peter Parker in his civilian attire telling two of his supervillians to piss off while he's on a date and they actually comply with his demand feels like something out of a bad Spider-Man fanfic which granted is what Zeb Well's run on ASM has amounted to since near the beginning, but still.
The last new OC girlfriend he had, Carlie Cooper was basically advertised the same way. Her final fate was being experimented on and mutated into some kinda monster before leaving and cutting all contact with Peter.
If they wanted to do a different love interest to MJ or Black Cat, then why not Silk, they still haven't solved any of those issues or even seem to want to bother with them at all, even in a platonic way since Dan Slott came out to say why it was bad for making them a thing. Even though they seemingly don't know what to do with her in the comics. .
I'd honestly love to see them actually try again with Silk, it probably wouldn't last long as Marvel always need to go back to the status quo but having at least one satisfying run with them as a couple would be awesome
I would have been happy for them to just reuse at least an existing past LI, hell I’d have taken Betty Brant, rather than shoehorn in a new LI who now lies a thing despite zero effort getting them there. At least with a past LI they could maybe have enough connection to Peter to justify them sticking round, even if they don’t know he’s SM. If they were going to do Carlie Cooper Mark 2, just use Carlie Cooper Mark 1; at least they put more effort in building her up.
Look, I just want Peter to be happy? Can he just be happy with someone he genuinely loves. Be it MJ or someone else. He's had enough drama in his life. Let him just have a relatively good life. He can still be a hero who gives it his all and have a good life outside of it.
13:30 DARN YOU MEPHISTO lol 😅 also peters dream wife is still gwen based on the spidermen book from greg wiseman so no-one can reallylive up to that on 616 in a messed up way
Great video and analysis. I figured out the problem with UA-cam. I can't use Google Chrome and have to go between Edge and Firefox to be able to view videos. Ugh! "With great power comes great menus and a kiss". Yes, that's Marvel's new approach to Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Will he use this approach the next time he meets up with the Sinister Six? "Hi guys, please just go home for the night as I'm on a date with my new GF. Can we fight next time, OK?" It's a shame I have to point out that this is the tip of the iceberg with the final issues of Zeb Well's run on "ASM". I absolutely dread the upcoming "ASM" run with Kelly and Ireland. I thoroughly believe that upcoming run is going to make Wells's run a masterpiece. How unrealistic for the character "Shay" to accept Peter's tardiness and running out on her on their dates. Remember MJ knew Peter was Spider-Man and revealed this in "TASM # 257" (cover date October 1984, going on 40 years ago). This was given an exact time frame in the "Untold Tales of Spider-Man # 16" (cover date December 1996) as MJ saw Peter climb out of the window of his Aunt May and Uncle Ben's house in Fairless Hills, when he first got his powers. MJ also knew some day she was going to date Peter but wasn't ready at that time. This issue was done to provide a framework on how and when she found out Peter was Spider-Man. Why? Because in December 1996, Peter and MJ were married at the time and Marvel was establishing canon because in "ASM # 257 she only makes a vague statement regarding when she found out. As I mentioned before, "TASM # 257" and "TASM # 258" (cover date November 1984) I firmly believe was the zenith/peak of Spider-Man comics. MJ knew he was Spider-Man, but didn't accept it until she saw Felicia come through Peter's window and the writer Tom Defalco had the expertise and skill to write the one panel where MJ says, "It's true. It's all true." Compare these excellent issues to the last 17 years of garbage Marvel is giving Spidey fans. Since the MJ and Peter Marriage in "TASM Annual # 21" (cover date September 1987), and their honeymoon in France in Peter Parker The Spectacular Spider-Man (PPTSS) Annual # 7 (cover date November 1987), there was a slow decline of Spidey comics including Marvel and DC in general. However, that was accelerated at a great pace in "ASM" from 2007 to today. "One More Day" starts in The Amazing Spider-Man #544 (cover date November 2007), continues in Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man #24 (cover date November 2007) and The Sensational Spider-Man (vol. 2) #41 (cover date December 2007), and concludes in The Amazing Spider-Man #545 (cover date January 2008). This is where the decline became decay to an unwanted fossil. Then "Brand New Day starts "ASM Vol. # 3, # 558 (cover date Jul. 2008). Except for the Nick Spencer Run in "ASM" (Vol. # 5 2018 - 2021, total 83 regular issues, 4 oversized specials, 4 Sinister War tie-ins, 3 2099 event titles and a Free Comic Book Day Special, Nick Spencer's run on Amazing Spider-Man comes to a close) where we saw and hoped MJ and Peter were back together again, Marvel has completely and utterly ruined "ASM" with MJ going with PAUL! What a disaster! "ASM # 55" doesn't surprise me. I'm wondering what happened to Tombstone's lawyer Michelle. As Spidey fans aren't we tired of the Debra Whitman's, implied romance or interest with "Captain Marvel", "Dagger" of "Cloak and Dagger", the inexplicable tie-in to "Silk", the uninspired romance with "Mockingbird", the doomed romance of "Carlie Cooper". This is all trash, and I've taken the trash out many times with "ASM", but the trash not only keeps coming it's building up so fast I can't get rid of it fast enough. I would like to see Peter with Felicia, but I think Marvel has moved on from MJ and Felicia being with Peter. That time has passed for both of those characters. I'm open for an older Spider-Gwen from the multiverse to come to Earth-616, meet Peter, they fall in love, become a power couple and have kids, but I feel like I'm repeating myself on an idea or two that's never going to happen. There's no chemistry between Shay and Peter and it's another woman he has to keep his secret identity from. I'm sick and tired of this. Keep up with the great work and excellent videos. Sooner or later, I'll stop writing dissertations and just accept the fact "ASM" is over for a longtime Spidey fan like me. With "USM" probably going in a different direction in the next 4 issues, I think it's time to go back and read sci-fi novels from Clarke, Heinlein, and Chalker. Only 3 more subscribers, Congratulations. "For he 'a jolly good fellow, For he's a jolly good fellow, For he's a jolly good fellloooww, So, say all of us." And I'll add the American ending to this song "Which nobody can deny." Cheers!
As tedious as it was I’m glad you were able to fix UA-cam :) sorry for the late reply it’s 5am here and I’ve just spent all day and night editing my big Spider-Man 2 (2004) movie game review! Finally got it done Like you said marvel at this point is probably well past love interests like Mary Jane and Felicia which is not only depressing but severely insulting to characters such as them! At this point if we accept they’ll never write those two properly again and it’s time for a new love interest (even tho we’ve done this exact same dance a billion times already *cough* Carlie cooper *cough* Michelle *cough* mockingbird *cough* could they at least write a half decent story! Must they always ruin Peter in every new issue. I’d love to meet zeb some day purely to just talk the most shit about his stories to his face, I want him to see the genuine disappointment and anger he’s given spidey fans in person. Obviously they’ll eventually break up then he’ll probably go back to mj then Felicia then someone new then repeat and repeat. In brighter news, 3000 SUBSCRIBERS AHHH!!thank you for all the support man seriously!!!
Honestly, I unfortunately can't imagine Peter and MJ together again. Shay, if the writers don't ruin everything, could turn out to be something interesting, she's a nurse and knows how to deal with people with problems, and Peter has REALLY needed someone to take care of his wounds, both physical and emotional.
Bruce Wayne might have a rough love life at times, but his list of close allies only continues to grow, plus he actually has kids (adopted, biological, or just basically considered one of his “kids”). He makes mistakes and suffers losses, but ultimately I’d say his life has ironically turned out better than Peter’s in the long run.
@@B.B.Digital_Forest Not really, New 52 actually kept most of Batman’s prior continuity, and the few allies who were removed soon returned. So Batman hasn’t been really reset since Crisis on Infinite Earths, and ain’t no way we’re calling about four decades “fairly short”.
I’ve been saying for years, but if marvel could just nut up and give Black Cat a single character arc that allowed her to understand why Peter does the whole dual identity thing; then they could allow the two to become a true power couple on the comics
@@mnstash To his credit, I think it was a good idea to make Spider-Man handle his problems in a different way, since what he's been doing lately clearly isn't working well. However, the execution by Zeb felt too sleazy to me. It's like he's not even trying, and I don't know how much of it is him and how much of it is the staff interfering with what he plans to do. An interesting idea would be, since Shay is working at the Ravencroft Institute, to create a plot where she's trying to study Peter's mind and find out who he is. She could tolerate his nonsense on that issue just so she can keep studying him to write a book and make money off of it or something. But then, she would end up realizing that the city needs Spidey and ultimately decide not to publish it. That could be a nice storyline depending on how it's executed, but with the way things are going, I'm just pretending Peter died in Superior Spider-Man, and everything after that is just some sort of collective hallucination we're all having. sorry for the huuge text sometimes i get too excited when talking about comics in general btw love your vids keep it up
No need to apologise and thank you so much man :) glad you like my stuff! In all honesty at this point I wouldn’t mind shay to stick around for a bit but like you said the execution needs to be better! Their whole foundation is built off nothing pretty much
Zeb Wells thinks that by giving him a new girl, replaying the "responsibility" dialogue, and subverting what Peter would always do, he will be forgiven by Spidey's fans what a joke
I think zeb wells is getting to much hate. Hes the modern day dan slot where he has great ideas and bad ones but marvel editorials are making things worse. They practically want gwen to come back to life permanently after all.
@@mnstash I don't think that. Cause his run on other comics and stories featuring spider man like wolverines bday one show he can write spider man. So somethings off
Carly Cooper 2.0. It's absolutely ridiculous, but not suprising. MJ as a character basically stumps the narrative that the Spider-Office has been pushing since OMD, all by herself. Pete can't be miserable if he's hitched with her, and he cant have steamy short lived flings with gorgeous normal girls and/or metahumans when he's loyal to his wife. They push hard against the wishes of us old schoolers, and feel justified doing it, because there are a crapton of fans who actually LIKE Spidey wallowing in misery and yet somehow capable of pulling baddies from across the Marvel superheroine spectrum. The only way 616 Pete and MJ will ever be truly reunited for an extended period is if some big wig comes in and cleans up, some dude or dudette that loves 90s Spidey stories and will make heads roll to bring them back. Someone who loves the Parkers like Geoff Johns seems to love classic Hal Jordan. But until then.... the hell with ASM. USM is right there, and it firing on all cylinders right now.
I was too busy criticizing everything else about this issue to even remember that Rhino was also being treated badly. It really is good Zeb is leaving because I just can't keep up with how terrible he is. This video made me think about how, again, they don't commit to the bit. This run has been completely overshadowed by their Character Assassination of Mary Jane and how none of what is happening should be happening. But the lack of him inner thoughts and personal life happening really emphasizes how little they're even trying. When Gwen died Peter didn't just bounce around in the next issue like everything was normal. He mourned and grieved and struggled with his emotions. In his current situation, he just had his heart completely ripped out of him, betrayed on a level he didn't think was possible. Even when MJ dumped him in OMIT, he never had to doubt that she loved him, and now, oops turns out that was a lie. So he should be just torn up inside trying to deal with his new reality. But we get none of that. At first because Zeb obviously didn't know what he was doing. And then afterwards....well I don't know. Sheer incompetence I guess. The Dark Age continues.
If he gets a new love interest that isn’t Mary Jane then first he needs to get his life back and those two things won’t happen as long writers zen wells are still in control.
That's...I'm not even gonna lie I don't know what I think. At this point most of the love interest stuff as been on repeat to the point where I know if they're not a character built up over decades of previous writing then they're not gonna last for the long term with Peter. While I guess it's a bit new that Peter confronts his villains as himself and just asking them to stop at this point I've honestly just said that if Peter and MJ were gonna get back together have the current MJ who's with Paul be revealed to be a clone and that the actual one was left in the dimension but wasn't super aged up. From there just make it permanent as I don't get the whole creak up thing anymore when most of the fandom either wants it or are just so tired that they don't care anymore.
You know what's worse? Zeb Wells was going to go after this, but Mr. Nick Lowe convinced him to stay. I've completely lost hope. Nick has to go as soon as possible. 😖
Here’s the issue, Marvel has proven themselves to be so anti-long-term when it comes to relationships that we cannot take any relationship seriously like we once were able to before. Something is going to happen that will break them up, all in the name of keeping Peter Parker single, which is an outdated idea to do with the character that has only devalued him in the last 17 years.
He will screw it up as usual with his Peter Luck and maybe just maybe if marvel could hire a decent writer with real knowledge on the characters doing a pivotal plot that involves Paul becoming a major villain free MJ from that alt universe see that MJ and Paul break up seeing that leads to his madness within Paul. Forcing a change within their children as well seeing to stay with Paul. a time paradox happens within the time of the alt universe in which the children are young adult using their father alt technology version of Goblin suits to hunt MJ and Peter down.
MJ was a replacement for Gwen and had no right to dump Peter, he saved her and her family hundreds of times and when he needed her she just up and left him. MJ is a horrible person and I hope she gets a fate worse then Gwen
Watch her become a psycho villain because of her time at ravencroft of past trauma. Amd then, peter has to team up with MJ and paul to beat her. Only for MJ to tell peter that they can't be together at the end
I won't lie i kinda like this chapter i don't really read spider man, so I don't really know this girl but this is one of the only times i seen Peter handle a problem without being spider man , you had really good points on why this is bad tho
If Spider-Man fans want Peter to only live by the doctrine of "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility," then Peter should never try dating ever again. In fact, he should just stick with being Spider-Man 24/7. Because what he's been doing for the past 60 years isn't healthy. There has to be a balance. With the way people can set their own scheduled by working from home, he doesn't need a regular 9-5 job. And as for relationships, he doesn't have to tell every woman he dates that he's Spider-Man, but he should say that he has an unstable scheduled that if he ignores, lives could be in danger. And the job is a secret for safety of everyone involved. If the women don't want to be part of that kind of relationship, that's fine. For the woman who chooses to stay and support their relationship, she's a keeper who can be told his secret after trust is formed and solidified.
I want Peter to win but this story was just not the way to go about it. You saying he should never date again and be Spider-Man 24/7 because what he’s been doing for 60 years is pretty unfair considering he literally got married within that time and still would be if not for editorial.
@@mnstash I agree, I want Peter to win too. I also hate this current run of Spider-Man and what Marvel and their staff have done to, well, nearly every character they own. I personally don't think Peter should just be Spider-Man 24/7. I specifically said that if you want him to adhere to "WGPCGR," like a religion (which he has been doing) then he may as well be Spider-Man 24/7. I personally don't think he should. As I said before, there needs to be balance. And if you want to make the argument that "he would still be married if not for the editorial" one can just as easily argue that he got married due to the editorial wanting him to grow up more. This isn’t really an argument, because depending on the writer and what Marvel wants, anything can be implemented.
Personally I’ve always viewed Spider-Man as one big story from a teenager to a man to a family man. We grow up with him sorta thing. A reason to why him being married worked so well imo. Although I do see your point! I just feel like it was handled poorly especially with him just saying ‘hey knock it off’
@@mnstashI can understand that with how much his character had depth during Dan Slott's time on the run. That page where where Spidey and Rhino talk about moving on just makes me tear up every time.
I haven't kept up much with the Zeb Well's run on Spider-Man besides knowing Paul is a thing, and that they've generally trashed on Spider-Man's character. I actually don't view this issue as too terrible, since I think it actually does add depth to Peter rather than Spider-Man, as he realizes that he can't keep repeating the same mistakes in his life, and actually manages to deal with a problem as Peter Parker rather than as Spider-Man. Not that it makes total sense in continuity for Rhino and Screwball to be there, or to care about a random guy's date, but to see Peter Parker actually deal with something as a human being instead of slapping on a costume and beating people up is refreshing. Also, Shay doesn't seem like too bad of a character. You can say that it doesn't make sense for her to put up with Peter's behavior, but I think that shows content of character where she isn't dating for fun, she's actually interested in the relationship itself working out. Though I didn't even know Shay existed until this video, as I haven't kept up with the comics, so I can't say too much about her character. That being said, Jeb Wells is a disgrace that should never touch Marvel comics, or perhaps any comics, ever again. I'm tired of these writers trashing Spider-Man's life, and constantly breaking him up from Mary Jane. It's ridiculous. There's literally no story benefit, nor sales benefit for that matter, to break him up with his fan-favorite love interest.
Interesting point of view with the main aspects of the story! I wouldn’t mind shay if they just wrote a better story to go with it. It felt really jarring too considering they never focus on his personal life
@@mnstash Yes. They definitely did her dirty by introducing her in that run of Spider-Man. She's basically what Mary Jane should have been to begin with (or at least far better than she currently is, which isn't a high bar to reach), and I do think that adds some insult to injury. It'll be even more of a tragic waste when the relationship comes to an end and they simply get him back with Mary Jane somehow. I can see it being jarring, and especially with poor timing given what Zeb Wells has done. Though what I find jarring is that Shay seemed nonchalant about Rhino and Screwball fighting right outside the restaurant. Maybe super villain fights are so normal that people stopped caring, but the fact she didn't even look outside of the window was ridiculous. If anything, I think it would've been good to have her see Peter actually talk them down, wasted opportunity right there.
Hey, I’m finally in the under 1 hour gang! 😄 Anyway, I’m just so sick and tired of Zeb Well’s ASM, that I didn’t even bother to pick up this issue. I decided to get Ultimates #3, Vengeance of the Moon Knight #8, X-Men #2, and Venom War: Spider-Man #1 instead. To be honest, I completely forgot who Shay was and that she appeared earlier on in the run too. This just goes to show that Zeb doesn’t even care to make new characters memorable…except for Paul… Anyway, I don’t even think this story is even good enough to be a feature story, it honestly looks like it would fit better in the back pages of some other issue as a short story. It did absolutely nothing to advance the plot, especially the final Tombstone arc (not looking forward to that by the way); literally the whole point of this issue was just for Zeb to flex at us that he will never get Peter and MJ back together. The character assassinations of course were terrible, and seriously…why would Rhino and Screwball listen to Peter Parker of all people, it’s absurd. All I’m saying is that I’m not even going to pick up ASM anymore just to see how laughably bad it is, I’m going to spend money on only books worth my time. Also, mnstash, are you planning on covering Venom War: Spider-Man #1? I mean, sure Jackpot is in it and I didn’t care that much for the Hobgoblin stuff; but if you look past all that stuff, it’s an interesting story.

Nah... hahaha
Agreed.
I honestly wonder why Peter bothers having a relationship. He puts Spider-Man first and none of the relationships he has work out.

They will remove her soon
@@afkmh2392 we shall see but i seen marvel pull this stunt before and it never ends well.

It’s more like
“ I see what you did now.
But I still won’t forgive you of what you did before.”

It feels like zeb said fuck it and couldn’t think of a way to give him a proper win
The last new OC girlfriend he had, Carlie Cooper was basically advertised the same way. Her final fate was being experimented on and mutated into some kinda monster before leaving and cutting all contact with Peter.
4:53 I have the same expression as Rhino, just what is Zeb Wells doing
Trust me now insult me as well but I honestly believe black cat is the best option for Peter ignoring the dumb writing in recent years
If they didn’t have him with MJ I’d always love for him to be with black cat, it’s a real shame they bottled that too
There is literally no reason to make a new love interest. We got Black Cat who's romance was ended for the supidest reason.
Exactly!
I'll do you one better: Bring back Debra Whitman.
Silk never worked long term for Peter.
She’s a spiderverse guardian or some shit rn. We will only see her when morlun comes back for some stupid shit

Hopefully she could take Paul with her😭
When you got to the 'Screwball and Rino fucked off' part i was dumbfounded. That... That just sounds stupid as hell.

Shay, if the writers don't ruin everything, could turn out to be something interesting, she's a nurse and knows how to deal with people with problems, and Peter has REALLY needed someone to take care of his wounds, both physical and emotional.
As tumultuous as Peter's love life has been those women generally remained his friends. Compared to Bruce Wayne he's been lucky.
@@doctordoom85 DC Comics keeps resetting the continuum. The long run is fairly short.

Nice Art! Bland Story and Bland Character! Horrible Tenure!
Yeah the art was the only thing remotely good about this
Carly Cooper 2.0.
Man I miss them married, the stories were so good especially how jms wrote them.
Rn we just gotta keep usm killing asm with sales!
Great point with the death of Gwen! That was back when the writers actually cared!
Zeb is such an embarrassment

No idea, Marvel themselves have zero idea what they’re doing
Forcing a change within their children as well seeing to stay with Paul. a time paradox happens within the time of the alt universe in which the children are young adult using their father alt technology version of Goblin suits to hunt MJ and Peter down.
i love how it goes from a comic summary to a rant 😭😭rightfully so tho comic spidey is def at his worst right now
Soon as the story is done it’s open season😭
I swear if they mess this up Im gonna just write my Spider-Man story.
same here, i already started mine
MJ was a replacement for Gwen and had no right to dump Peter, he saved her and her family hundreds of times and when he needed her she just up and left him. MJ is a horrible person and I hope she gets a fate worse then Gwen
And she left him all the while he was trying to save her the entire time. Ever since OMD they’ve ruined her character
Gwen >>>>> MJ
Is Alfred moonlighting between Wayne manor and a restaurant?
… or is he spying on Batmans orders?
His job is never truely done!
Watch her become a psycho villain because of her time at ravencroft of past trauma. Amd then, peter has to team up with MJ and paul to beat her. Only for MJ to tell peter that they can't be together at the end
And then she bashes Peter because remember she said Peter’s pain is her gain!
I won't lie i kinda like this chapter i don't really read spider man, so I don't really know this girl but this is one of the only times i seen Peter handle a problem without being spider man , you had really good points on why this is bad tho
That’s fair enough! I want him to have a Peter win but for me it was just not it
I’d have him just step back into the date and then rhino kills somebody and then Pete gotta deal with the guilt of it
If Spider-Man fans want Peter to only live by the doctrine of "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility," then Peter should never try dating ever again.
I just feel like it was handled poorly especially with him just saying ‘hey knock it off’
@@mnstash I agree. Though considering the story is 60 years long now, I we practically grew past Peter. 🤣
He is getting up there😂 it’s funny how time works in comics
She is a nurse at asylum right? nah, this won't last long
Yeah pretty sure she was introduced in this series, I give it a month or two
By the looks of it, I don't think this story is as bad as the other issues that were put out lately
It’s not as bad as the goblin story but it still does damage to the characters involved which sucks
@@mnstashI can understand that with how much his character had depth during Dan Slott's time on the run. That page where where Spidey and Rhino talk about moving on just makes me tear up every time.
There’s nothing wrong with balancing his own interests, with doing the right thing.
I see where you’re coming from. For me it was still a massive miss
Good point I didn't even realise everyone BUT Peter were so oblivious to the clear loud destruction taking place literally right next to them
Honestly, this issue was kinda fun LMAO
That’s the last straw! ZEB WELLS IS DEAD!!!!!!!!
Hey, I’m finally in the under 1 hour gang! 😄
Anyway, I’m just so sick and tired of Zeb Well’s ASM, that I didn’t even bother to pick up this issue. I decided to get Ultimates #3, Vengeance of the Moon Knight #8, X-Men #2, and Venom War: Spider-Man #1 instead. To be honest, I completely forgot who Shay was and that she appeared earlier on in the run too. This just goes to show that Zeb doesn’t even care to make new characters memorable…except for Paul…
Anyway, I don’t even think this story is even good enough to be a feature story, it honestly looks like it would fit better in the back pages of some other issue as a short story.
You bought Ultimates #3? You poor soul...
Just look what they did to She-Hulk!
@@BrandontheAwesome Okay, to be fair, I didn’t know that they were going to do that to that to She-Hulk, I thought they were going to do something a little better. Same goes for the story too, I expected something a little different. But I did like the tease for Ultimate Iron Fist and the Immortal Weapons at the end.
@@spiderbro617 I didn't even know it was out till today. And after seeing She-Hulk, and then Black Cat... yeah, I'm done with this new Ultimate universe.
@@BrandontheAwesome Ultimate Back Cat is still a while out, but I understand that. I don’t like that this new Ultimate Black Cat isn’t going to be Felicia…
But I’m going to stick around with the New Ultimate Universe to see where the narratives of the books go.
@@spiderbro617 Oh wait, it isn't Felicia? Phew, I thought it was a race-swap. Unless it's a Miles Morales situation.
Good for you pal. I'm not. I'm going to stick to old comics.
she's probably really Mysterio or Chameleon or Doc Ock's mind is in her body or something.
Crazy how the venom comic dose a better job
HE DID WHAT!!!!!!!!!!!
Well, they don't just hate MJ, they hate Peter too.
Meh, we all know as soon as Zeb Wells is out the door Peter’s gonna dump her something gonna happen between them that’ll make him go back with MJ starting the cycle all over again
Then they’ll break up again then he goes to black cat and repeat and repeat
Peter needs to visit Doc Samson and indulge in a few therapy sessions with the super community's resident head shrinker.
Fun fact, a therapist did try to give therapy to Spider-Man in one story.
That therapist needed therapy afterward.
