Hi Mitch amazing work as always! I just wanted to Thank You! We bought a used 2017 Chevy equinox from a local dealer. They lied to us and told us it wasn't smoked in. They covered up the smell with dealership air freshener. A few weeks after we brought it home we noticed the smoke smell settling in. The dealership refused to do anything and said it was our problem now. BC got hit with that heat dome last summer and the nicotine was leaking out of the headliner, the steering wheel was sticky. We felt horrible driving our family around in this smokers box. Watching your videos we were able to learn just how to tackle every inch of our vehicle. We rented an ozone machine, and used my husband's work steamer to clean the headliner, and as much of the interior as we could. After a second change of the air filter and wiping all the tar out of the sun roof track we can finally say over a year later and about 8 hours of two people tackling the work, our vehicle feels like a safe ride for us, and our children. So 100% Thank you for sharing your skills, tips, and tricks. My heart is so much lighter knowing my kids aren't breathing in second hand smoke ♥️

If I owned this vehicle, there's no way I would have left that carpet in it. I wouldn't have bothered trying to clean it. I'm amazed you got it looking that good.
Outstanding job! I’ve detailed for a long time and used nearly every technique and chemical to remove stains, polish paint etc. I agree there is very little if anything that could be done to get it cleaner. There are many stain removers for carpet and upholstery, some that require understanding what caused the stain and some that do not. For those who don’t know but care, you can chase stains with enzymes and special cleaners all day without those results Mitch obtained in this video. After that thing was that clean, I longed to watch a thorough tune-up, dent removal, wheel change, sound system upgrade, and a few damaged parts replacement. Thanks for your exceptional videos, Mitch!
I don't have children, I do have a Buick Encore, black interior, I keep it better than showroom clean, that is the way I like it and I have the equipment to keep it clean myself. I like watching Mitch and have learned a couple tricks
Probably what happened is that the SUV was going to be seized and the owner decided to ruin it out of spite. You see this with housing where renters dig in their heels. So when they do get kicked out they've caused 10s of thousands of dollars by the time the police come to give them the boot.

I’m honestly shocked to see a luxury vehicle to get treated like this… 😬 I’m sure that the smell in that vehicle is absolutely disgusting! Have a great weekend and Easter everyone!
It's an old gussied up Tahoe. Nothing luxurious about it. Perhaps with the newest generation sure but the Escalade has always been an overpriced Tahoe/Suburban.
@ixx People are too hung up about name. One time some idiot crashed an old Infiniti G35 near my house and everyone was going about "oh it was probably daddy's money" when that car goes for less than $5k.
Luxury cars are often the most abused. What we see at auction is stunning. Things will come thru at two or three years old (or less) looking far worse than this thing.
As an auto mechanic, this level of nastiness is very common in cars that come in for repair. Many times the food attracts mice, who then chew on wiring harnesses under seats and cause problems with airbag/seatbelt warnings, heated and cooled seats not working, and inop. seat motors.
Amazing work as always! I'm sure even though it's hard, there a significant level of satisfaction in seeing the before and ever in all the footage. Love the videos with a customer interaction, makes me smile to hear the difference compared to the narration about 5 times more Canadian when interacting, love it haha!
Would like to say I’m extremely impressed with a couple things. How thorough you are, how transparent you are, and also how simple and straight to the point your product line is. I’ve been using Chemical Guys, and it feels like 4-5 of their products do the exact same thing, which is extremely frustrating finding the best. Also thank you for linking exactly what you use! I’ll definitely be picking up that steamer!

@@matthewjensen9550 unfortunately that happens as cars age... Most people that buy this old of a vehicle tend to not have the knowledge or care to keep it nice and make it last.
Question about the mega foam. Should you let the car dry a little bit before applying? Reason I ask, would that help keep the foam from sliding down too quickly
Also curious about this. Personally when I detail I only ever soap up one side at a time (front, side, back, other side), so I know the soap doesn't start drying or running down too quickly.
Escalade Before meeting Mitch: Someone please put me out of my misery Escalade after meeting Mitch: I’m saved! Miracles do happen! 😂 Amazing work Mitch!!
Back when I was a teenager. I had a part-time job detailing cars. Had an older coworker who use to detail cars. He taught me to use rit dye t and carpet shampoo to clean the interior. I used a color a little darker than the color of the interior.
I mean, the answer to the question is always yes, you've done amazing. It's UA-cam detailers like you shoe gave me the confidence to start cleaning my families cars
Disconnect your battery first! Many problems could arise from disconnecting the electronics harness when removing the seats if you do not do this. Additionally, check to make sure the seats are not tethered to an anchor like in a Smart 451 or other makes and models. It's no problem but may require extra steps and additional tools or bits. Also, if you're going to the trouble of removing your seats I highly recommend removing the carpet as well. It takes only a few moments longer and allows you to pressure wash the carpets and clean with degreaser below them. This will keep your carpets looking much better much longer.
In the last few weeks, my husband has heard a lot about the "Detail Geek", especially that I find it strangely calming and also - how do I best express it? In a way, like a restoration. Wrecked cars are cleaned again, brought back into shape - exactly what we all want, not only for cars. Today we had to wait while cooking (vegetables in the oven) and then we watched this video together, on my tab on the kitchen table. My husband was immediately hooked and didn't want to miss a second - including tears during the guitar solo. But I was scolded emphatically because the screen of the tab was not super clean. Of course, he noticed this immediately with a streak-free black Cadillac. 😉 Very kind regards from Germany, Frankfurt, Caro

That was definitely a purse tampon. We keep them in our purse just in case, and then after a while they come out of their wrapper, and they get pushed out of the applicator. Mitch, I read somewhere a few years back it was recommended that seatbelts should be cleaned only with water due to chemicals in detergents that can gradually weaken/degrade the strength of the material. Could you imagine what the belts would look like with only a water rinse? I thought it was a hogwash article even though it came from some respectable automotive source of which I don't recall. But now a days with advances in detailing products, it's not like people are using bleach and ammonia to wash their interior materials. Just an interesting thought that hit my mind when I saw the seatbelt wash down. Great job as always!

Probably not buying the car from auction to use for themselves. Good chance it's a flipper. Buy it at auction retarded cheap, slap a few small but and bobs at it to get it running decent, change the fluids, give it a good clean and sell for thousands more than you paid with a few hundred invested. Some floor mats to cover the stains you can't get out and send her down the road with a new owner as-is.

Btw amazing job !! ❤️👌 I always call a new cabin filter where i work because these end up being black by dust and dirtiness (cigarette too) and like that it just prevents bad smell and redistributing “used” air around the car. People often come to the garage saying; “ So i bought this car and it has a real bad smell in it, would a shampoo take the smell off?” And often happens that it never had been changed from owner to owner because people mostly don’t know it exists and they had a ozone machine service in it too. You've really outdone yourself on this one Mitch. The Escalade was just terribly trashed and you brought it back to near perfection. I respect your dedication to the final outcome. I feel the same way when I'm detailing a vehicle, sometimes to my detriment haha 😂. Keep up the good work and fantastic content.
This cleaning was amazing! This type of clean on a car should be on the news wow!
If I owned this vehicle, there's no way I would have left that carpet in it. I wouldn't have bothered trying to clean it. I'm amazed you got it looking that good.
These vids about abandoned and/or seriously neglected vehicles are my favorites. Their transformation is amazing!
Yeah and u gotta think about the fact that the car was sitting for 15 years. I’m surprised he even got it this clean
So nice to see this truck get the love and attention it deserves, amazing transformation
So glad to see this Caddy rescued! This is the most handsome Escalade in my opinion. So glad to see it getting the love it needs!
It always saddens me when I see beautiful cars get treated like giant trash bins. Awesome job cleaning it up!
Probably what happened is that the SUV was going to be seized and the owner decided to ruin it out of spite. You see this with housing where renters dig in their heels. So when they do get kicked out they've caused 10s of thousands of dollars by the time the police come to give them the boot.
@@jmd1743 brah the car is absolutely fine. Looks like a normal day of offroading. This is a bait vid that's bs. Cars don't look that good when abandoned for any reason. It legit needs no work done at all. This is bogus. You're either a kid, or you know nothing about anything.

I do detailing on the side ..it's satisfying because of the before and after of something you put effort into ...
The before and after vids is the new top genre
When you've been binge watching The Detail Geek videos.....then decide "I can clean that oil stain from my car seat myself!!".......and 3 weeks later you're still trying to clean that same damn stain.....and have a strong urge to drive to Canada and schedule an appointment to have your car detailed professionally....

I love watching you videos every week. I am always amazed at the outcome of each disaster you give new life to.
P.S. customers really need to give Mitch the appreciation and reaction his work deserves. I would be flipping out if I brought my vehicle in looking like that and got it back from Mitch looking that amazing. SMH

Thanks! You too! :)

Is this a normal thing in the US?

Would like to say I’m extremely impressed with a couple things. How thorough you are, how transparent you are, and also how simple and straight to the point your product line is. I’ve been using Chemical Guys, and it feels like 4-5 of their products do the exact same thing, which is extremely frustrating finding the best. Also thank you for linking exactly what you use! I’ll definitely be picking up that steamer!

Amazing job. I would have probably ordered a carpet kit...
Also, I love this generation of GM SUVs so much, and the fact that Cadillac kept the "oh JESUS!!" handle on the dash in addition to the roof mounted "oh Shit!" handle. This generation of GM trucks was just legendary
I wonder if the carpet kit would’ve been cheaper vs the work & materials he put in.

Back when I was a teenager. I had a part-time job detailing cars. Had an older coworker who use to detail cars. He taught me to use rit dye t and carpet shampoo to clean the interior. I used a color a little darker than the color of the interior.
It's so satisfy to look how you make it clean again! Great work!
I mean, the answer to the question is always yes, you've done amazing. It's UA-cam detailers like you shoe gave me the confidence to start cleaning my families cars
I'm always amazed at how they get the seats out! I want to do it to mines and really get that pre-owned sucker a good deep cleaning!
I usually just use a socket set for my seats. If you have an air/ pneumatic ratchet it would go a lot quicker!
Not a big deal just 4 screws on each corner... watch crix fix
4 screws around 2 front are 15in socket back ones r 11in socket

Seatbelt strength degrades with time as well. Newer materials help but i have read seatbelts loose about half their strength in 5 years.

I always call a new cabin filter where i work because these end up being black by dust and dirtiness (cigarette too) and like that it just prevents bad smell and redistributing “used” air around the car. People often come to the garage saying; “ So i bought this car and it has a real bad smell in it, would a shampoo take the smell off?” And often happens that it never had been changed from owner to owner because people mostly don’t know it exists and they had a ozone machine service in it too.
