Can I use a ozone machine in a room in the basement with a door and keep my plants upstairs in the main living area where they are or do I need to remove them?
I own a car rental company I use an ozone machine to clean smoke smell out of the rental cars. I can not find any info online. Thought I would ask you. Will using an ozone machine for an hour once a week in a vehicle damage the leather seats in the long run?
Ozone will gradually damage just about anything that can react with oxygen. This includes essentially all organic substances, including leather seats. Whether this effect will meaningfully accelerate the wear of your leather seats at that level of exposure compared to just reaction with ambient air, or other factors is another matter though. Combined with basic leather care, it's probably not an issue.
Any thoughts why do some air purifiers, like Shark HP302, generate ozone? And how much does it generate? Amazon won't ship to California because of it!
It does not seem that that purifier does generate ozone, however, ozone is used to remove smells. How effective it is at this depends on what's causing the smell. Ozone is an oxidizing chemical. On the other hand, ozone is not effective at removing smells or doing anything else at levels that are safe for people or animals to be around, so they should not be used in any space inhabited by people or animals.
What if a detailed company ran ozone generator for 12 hours in a car and the chlorine/bleach smell will not go away after days of airing it out. What should I do? Is it safe?
The problem with Ozone is that it reacts with plastics and other materials creating much more toxic compounds as a result of the reactions. Ozone is not really well studied and most of their uses like air and water purification is only creating toxics that end up being much worse for you and the environment then you could imagine, there is no control or regulation in place and it's all wild west in terms of what you can claim the benefits are.
I’m thinking of getting one for cleaning 50 year old vacuums that smell of must smoke and dog even after a deep clean with antibacterial wipes/soap. I was thinking of putting the vacuum and ozone generator in a enclosed box, do you think that would work? All I’m reading is for use in cars house or rooms aka spaces but im wondering if it would work in items that smell bad even after cleaning them.
Yes it will destroy almost any funky smell. Leave it in enclosed space with ozone generator running for a few hours. Ensure all filters and internals are exposed. After ozonation ventilate the room for atleast an hour, and leave the vacuum in outside in direct sunlight for atleast an hour to speed up ozone decomposition.
In the past I have used ozone generators to help with allergies. Other people did too. It was said that ozone would keep some people awake at night. Nothing would keep me awake. Of course it is true that the average ozone generator in those days had limited effect, as O3 does decay to O2 pretty quickly. Now I find I can't buy one, and the one I had before has finally died.
Ozone generators should not be used in any inhabited space. Any generator that produces enough ozone to do anything is producing enough ozone to be harmful. Ozone also probably isn't going to do anything to most allergens.
So good to see you again! Helpful explanation.

How does ozone in water management work? Is it OK to be in water as the ozone is working to kill bacteria in it?

Do you have any experience using the ozone generator in attics with closed cell spray foam on the roof deck to get rid of any lingering odors?

Hi Zach im wondering will ozone generator can kill flea and bed bug??? Many thanks and Merry Christmas
Have you read Ed Mccabe's book: Oxygen THERAPIES? Many great benefits from O3 when used correctly.
I haven't, but I'll have to check it out!
