  • WELCOME TO THE GARAGE SERIES! Yes, I'm just saying it. This is officially a series! 😂 Today we are going to be filling up that beautiful DIY shelving unit that we built last week!
If you saw my first video in this series, I asked, "What does your garage say about you?!" Well, apparently mine says I'm a hoarder and it's telling the neighborhood that my house is gross too... 🫠🤪 Ever since then, we've been working on MAJOR decluttering, some unpacking from our move two years ago, and planning/drawing out a built-in shelving unit.
Today is part 3 of my husband and I taking on our garage. It has been so incredibly bad since we moved in and this process has been over 6 MONTHS in the making... I shared back in October that we had started working on our garage and I shared some VERY embarrassing footage of it... After a day of a massive decluttering in October, the holidays snuck up on us, then the cold of winter, etc. etc. We never made it back out to finish it up. That has all changed these past few weeks though! I'm in full on, get rid of it all mode, and I'm excited to bring you all along!
I hope you found today's video motivating + inspiring! If you did, don't forget to give it a thumbs up and if you haven't done so already, hit that Subscribe button! I can't wait to chat in the comments!
    XO, Brandy
Here are links for the screws! I did the big containers since we have lots of backyard projects coming up!
    #10 x 3-in Epoxy Exterior Wood Screws (210-Per Box) www.lowes.com/...
    #10 x 2-1/2-in Epoxy Exterior Wood Screws (240-Per Box) www.lowes.com/...
    Tools used:
    -Miter saw
-Have Lowe’s/Home Depot cut OSB sheets
    -Impact drill
-Circular saw to cut down the OSB strips to length of shelf
-Oscillating multi tool saw to cut baseboards
-Air nailer with 2 inch brad nails for attaching OSB to shelf boxes
    Materials used:
2x4’s- you can use whatever length you’d like. We ended up grabbing 20 2x4x92’s and we had a handful leftover.
2 sheets of OSB Plywood were ripped down to 16” strips at Lowe’s. This is a MUST! Dealing with cutting sheets is not fun!
SELF-TAPPING SCREWS, these were so super helpful! I used #10 3 inch long wood exterior screws for attaching the unit to the walls, and #10 2 1/2 inch wood exterior screws to attach the frame/supports.
Make sure to stay away from your breaker box! Or check into your county building codes. My husband mentioned this after we built, so I would play it safe and follow code, or pick a different wall 🤪

Love what you are doing with your garage. Every home that we have had. If the garage is attached to the home. I consider it,another room in the home. I keep it as clean aside can.
With what ever furniture that works for the area. So hats off to you. I’m not sure that I would paint the hutch though. If you do paint,it use a color that you love.

The tool is a faucet wrench. It tightens the nut that holes the faucet to the sink/counter from underneath.

I am just catching up on your videos. Not sure if you have gotten to the hutch yet at this point but I agree 100% with you. I love that hutch and the inspo pics you recently shared are amazing. Save it, refinish it and use it for all your tools. I think that is a marvelous idea and would be a "beautiful" solution for storage.

Hi, Brandy! New to your channel. Love this video. I am doing my basement and I know what you’re going through. I love the china cabinet in the garage. It looks nice and the garage has something to look at instead of just junk. Great job!🌹🥰💜

The garage is always a big job. You will have so much more storage if you add shelves like you did on the other side and sell the dresser and hutch or China cabinet. Plus it I'd going to take so much time and effort that could be better spent on a project that would provide more benefits. Time is money!! Great job overall!! Have a great weekend 😊

Great job organizing! As far as the china hutch, just sell it as is. All that glass on the doors is a safety hazard especially with kids getting things and moving around in your garage. And accident prone adults as well! Build yourself another nice storage system on that wall and be done with the furniture! Wish I had your motivation.

If you love it, you should keep it! Who cares what people have to say about that. You will probably regret getting rid of it and it's great storage! Your garage looks great! "This wall is not square, is it round? I don't know" 🤣🤣

I think the china cabinet would be great in the garage.
What about (if you're wanting it) more industrial. Chicken wire on the glass doors, either in front or behind the glass, to have it open would be to dusty for the contents. Cup handles would look good too.
Just started watching you, really enjoying.

Everything looks great. Can a fire happen if something is too close to the electrical box?

Great video. I LOVE your black t-shirt!! 😂
    I overthink EVERYTHING!!! 🤣
Could you take the doors of the hutch that has glass off to just have open shelving??
    It would be safer too!!😁

Wow, that garage organization was a ton of work. You did an awesome job. I’d go ahead and use the hutch for storage but you’ll probably change it out eventually. The board and batten is beautiful. ❤
