- Is going from a garage of hoarder status to show stopping, “Pinterest worthy”, possible?! It is and I’m going to show you exactly how I did just this, and on a budget!
This is the final video of a 5 part series and I’ve had so much fun bringing y’all along on this tiring, yet so worth it, journey! Talk about feeling productive! Over the course of these 5 videos, I was able to turn my garage from something I was embarrassed and ashamed of, into something I’m so very proud of! It’s one of my favorite projects to date. My husband and I did a DIY built-in shelving unit, I did a board and batten treatment in the entry-way and painted it bunglehouse blue by HGTV Sherwin Williams, I made a scooter organizer, we built racks for lumber, I refinished a china cabinet for budget friendly storage, and SO MUCH MORE! I’ll also include my favorite links to the items I’ve purchased over the course of the garage makeover. I ended up using 2x4’s for all of my projects and it made the transformation super affordable! Video 1: Where it all started. What does your garage say about you?! Mine was not nice! 😬 This is where we jumped in and started to declutter.

Video 2 (well 1.5 since I was in denial and couldn’t believe it was taking me this long): The declutter continues! I also had to fit my car in the garage since we were have a drive-way extension poured the following day… Do you think we were able to do it?!

Video 3: The build! Here I shared EXACTLY how I took a drawing that I made, and turned it into an affordable storage solution for all the things you would find in a typical garage. Need storage for camp chairs? I got you! How about a cooler or 3?! Painting supplies? Recycle bins? This can EASILY be customized to fit your family’s needs!

Video 4: Today we did a good amount of organizing on the built-in’s! We (Michael) put up a barn light in the while I did a board and batten treatment in the garage entryway. I painted it HGTV SW Bunglehouse Blue.

TIP: Make sure to stay away from your breaker box! Or check into your county building codes. My husband mentioned this after we built, so I would play it safe and follow code, or pick a different wall 🤪
#10 x 3-in Epoxy Exterior Wood Screws (210-Per Box) www.lowes.com/...
#10 x 2-1/2-in Epoxy Exterior Wood Screws (240-Per Box) www.lowes.com/...
Tools used:
-Miter saw
-Have Lowe’s/Home Depot cut OSB sheets
-Impact drill
-Circular saw to cut down the OSB strips to length of shelf
-Oscillating multi tool saw to cut baseboards
-Air nailer with 2 inch brad nails for attaching OSB to shelf boxes
Materials used:
2x4’s- you can use whatever length you’d like. We ended up grabbing 20 2x4x92’s and we had a handful leftover.
2 sheets of OSB Plywood were ripped down to 16” strips at Lowe’s. This is a MUST! Dealing with cutting sheets is not fun!
SELF-TAPPING SCREWS, these were so super helpful! I used #10 3 inch long wood exterior screws for attaching the unit to the walls, and #10 2 1/2 inch wood exterior screws to attach the frame/supports.

NEW EXTREME HOARDER GARAGE CLEAN-OUT PART 4! ORGANIZING OUR NEW DIY BUILT-INS!!
I think it’s great that you repurposed the cabinet that you loved. Some people just can’t think outside the box. In our garage we have an armoire ( that my husband loves) for pet supplies, a chest of drawers for extra art supplies & 2 side shelves/bookcases from an old entertainment center that now houses all the bulk stuff I buy at Sam’s Club. Why spend money on something you already have just because it’s not “garage cabinets” doesn’t mean it can’t serve a purpose. Great job!!
Not done watching yet but don't wanna forget this. I know you are wanting things off the floor so idk if this will work or not but in my shed for shorter scrap pieces of wood I have them standing up in...a bin? I can't remember what I settled on..maybe it's an old tall laundry basket? 😂😂something to contain them lol so far it has worked well.
Sorry for the people that don't like the China cabinet in garage but I absolutely LOVE it and how it gives more storage space!!

I don't think a messy garage necessarily means messy home. Often the garage is low on the priority list. Clean garage is a big win!

You could do either another tract system to hang those small dolly's, the ladder, or just hooks into the wall kind of like the last one you hung. Build a vertical wood rack for the smaller pieces and something similar for scrap plywood! I absolutely LOVE how it all turned out, though. That china cabinet is stunning also!
Huge undertaking but you conquered it. Looks great. Love the very creative storage solution on the left wall. And there's nothing wrong with using the China cabinet as storage.

That is a terrific job. We don’t have a garage (here in FL where we live), so we have a utility closet and then we rent a storage unit in town for all of our Christmas/holiday tubs and extra sports items. It is nice to have everything organized. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Your garage looks much different than the first day. We don’t have a garage. But if we did I would love it to look organized like yours. That is amazing. We only have a shed. And it’s my husband’s territory. I don’t even like to go in. He cleans it out but it’s always stuffed. Because we have way too much stuff for this little house we bought. We downsized and I think we went a little too small.
