I kept waiting for you to say we're also going to take the all-wheel drive out of the CR-V and stuff it under there so it would truly compete with the Evo instead of being front-wheel drive only
yes please and thank you a lot for making this video on the 7th gen.... very much appreciated as some of us still do own this gen civic and hope to build very soon
Originally a honda guy but switched over to an evo about 10 years ago. Interested in seeing the results. I still like hondas and miss my old ones sometimes.
Loving the 7th generation content! I'm doing a kswap into an ES1 with an ep3 transmission k20a3 bottom with k20a2 pistons, etc and k20a2 head. I'm also hoping to finding the rest of the parts for EPS.
So glad your doing this 7thgen build brian makes me happy to know im not the only one on youtube trying to show the potential of these cars looking foward to the next episode
Id love to see you guys do a fueltech with a k swap, i know the wiring to the unit is pretty simple but no clue if we still need to ground the fuel pump wire on the harness
Question: I’m starting my first build and I had a couple questions regarding a 24/20 build going into an ek hatch. I’m about to purchase a k20a2 cylinder head and looking to add DC 3.2 cams with Supertech valve springs/ retainers. Stock valves and stock block. 45 or 50 degree vtc? And what’s recommended when sending in the head to get machined? I have no idea what to even ask for, as far as services?
If you have a hose that might kink, i stick a spring inside of it. If you can't find a spring, use some stainless welding wire and wind it over a broom handle, floor jack handle, whatever works.
This video has me thinking more and more about a 7th gen Coupe I'm eyeing on my local Marketplace that is better than one I bought 5 years ago. Not a good idea, but I actually liked that car and I need something to drive while I get my Fit painted next month...
Im gonna do this swap using your kit at some point so I can safely get onto the highway without potentially getting wacked I dont need the S charge just K24 and six speed.
I have a7th gen with a jdm d17a as well i love the car she will spin through 3rd gear thank you so much for trying to save this chassis its so unloved.
What did the K24 your useing come out of? Im also trying to put together a budget swap for my 02 es1, its an auto and got everything to swap to a manual new and used of FB MP, trans, exedy stage1 kit, master cylinder, slave, pedals, shifter, sub f, ect.... but now have the means to K swap. Any tips with a good budget engine or .. willing to bring the car to you and be a dream to swap it with you guys! #7thGen #VtecAcademy Love the content, 😎 J. .... edit after watching entire vid I heard, Accord bottom end and CRV head, aftermarket cams... lol Best budget swap K24 n tranz? Thoughts?
I have a 7th gen SI, I still don’t understand why so much hate on this generation, im dying to fix up my car, I have a question. Broke a bolt off on one of my coil packs, should I try to extract or just buy a new valve cover? Thoughts
Haha. I was really 2nd guessing my build when I was having the k24 built. I was always thinking 'maybe I should have bought an evo'. But I know evo's cost a lot to make a lot of power. Transmission upgrades are a must for even 500hp afaik.
Doesn't cost too much to make an Evo fast if you know what you're looking for. Used market you can have full bolt ons, upgraded turbo, and e85 conversion for about 2k. 400-500awhp. Only big cost is the car itself lol
@@VTECAcademy I did my JDM D17A and it runs so smooth and feels new. I do it a few years ago. I wanted to thank you for your mounts your Torque mount is literally holding up my JDM B18B in my EJ1 on the driver side( bent during an accident). I think I bought the wrong one though because there's a small gap and the mount isn't flush on the frame because there is some small sheet metal there on Civics that are not on Integras. Do you sell on that has that cut out for Civics 92-95?
This chassis sucks for modding especially with the lack of travel from the strange design of the front struts and rear shocks. The only thing good that came from this generation of platform was the K-series motor. An 06+ Civic or 1st gen TSX is a mich better platform to mod.
@@JamesAnderson-fw5ewthere's a whole lot more to being fast than just being lightweight. The "heaviness" of the Evo is easily made up with the power delivery. A supercharged k swap is already going to need additional work to not blow the tires off even in a straight line. So in turns, it's not happening easily.
@ its just going to need much more power to make up for the corners. The evo is still too heavy, plus for every one hundred pounds saved, a car will perform one tenth faster in the quarter mile. Therefore with a 500 plus weight savings the civic at the same power level is half a second faster in the quarter mile. Newtons law, an object in motion will remain in motion unless acted upon by an outside force proves that extra weight will make it harder to steer around corners and theres no question about it. When a car turns, even if it is not changing magnitude of velocity, it is changing velocity due to the direction components of it. Therefore an outside force needed to “change the motion”(direction) would be the tires grip which relies on the friction coefficient and the normal force of the tire. Basically you will need much more traction around a curve with a heavier car to turn at peak velocity than a lighter car.
@@JamesAnderson-fw5ew you're absolutely correct it just happens to be that an Evo does have more tire than those older model civics as well. On top of that a more rigid frame, AWD, ACD ,and factory aero. What you're saying is with all things being equal which it is not. Have you driven a 300+whp civic on street tires? It's spin city. It's going to need a lot of work to become a balanced car which is why you see most fast civics as straight line cars. A sub 3000 lb car may be considered heavy to a Honda but some of the best handling cars in the world weigh that much. Even a gtr handles well at nearly almost 4000 lbs!
I kept waiting for you to say we're also going to take the all-wheel drive out of the CR-V and stuff it under there so it would truly compete with the Evo instead of being front-wheel drive only
Been trying to plan my K swap on my 7th gen for years now. It makes me so happy to see some content with one!
I bought my Civic EM2 7th Gen 2009 and 2022 i swap IT to a fully build K20 turbo. Best choice ever
@@EJ2BSeries I love my K24 swap in my EM2!

That "Cars are pain" banner LMAO. So true.

You are the best at k swap explanations! Can you please do a FuelTech car? If you can explain everything needed and a base tune that would help a lot.

When i had an EM2, it was a fantastic car. When i went back to a stock EK (EJ6), it felt like my brakes were dragging 🙃
Thanks for this. I’m currently working on an 03 ES1, k24 AWD.
Could you complete the k24a4 build. Would love to see what power we can gain from that

Good morning. I need the harness to install a complete k24z7 on a 2008 honda fit gd3. Can you help me make one?
What are the little crimp things that you used to extend the wiring harness called?

I like the idea
You’re telling me I can pressure wash my alternator
I have a 7th gen with Japanese D17A engine

I have a d17a swapped 7th gen as well, only bolt on is exhaust but that single cam be pulling in lower gears!
