Brilliant Kevin, can hear the affection(rightly so) for your home town, like most Scottish High streets Paisley is a shadow of its former vibrant self, sadly my home town Alloa is the same, C'mon the Wasps 🐝!!!
Proud of you for doing such a nice video Kev. In paying homage to your home Town, you have not forgotten your roots! I didn't realise how much culture Paisley had! So thank you for making me aware of it! Sent you a coffee, for that!
Brilliant Kevin, this just takes me on a journey of my old Paisley Uni student days (was there 1992-1995 I think, studied BA Marketing).... Stayed in a student flat with my pal in 77 Causeyside Street! A street name I will never forget 😂 All the street names, bringing back so many memories and the great pubs we used to go to. Also graduated in Coates Memorial but the old student Union was class on a Friday night, was buzzing, miss those days. Thanks for this video. I will come back to Paisley to visit some of these old places 😊
Nice one Kev, I'm from Barrhead just down the road! Alan's is an amazing chippy, the fish and chips in there is amazing. Where Shuttle is there used to be an amusement arcade we used to go to I think it was called Flamingos? I'm 49 so it was a long time ago, great to see Paisley, i've lived in London for 25 years but fondly remember Paisley, I remember it was McGills buses from Barrhead.
Awe, really loved this video Kevin.. Paisley has a good vibe about it. Beautiful buildings. I visit there often, 20 mins by train from me. . Love watching the dancers in the bungalow 👌
Love you recollection of your history , mine goes back a lot further. Famous old venues like the Silver thread at loanend and the Gratispool factory where I worked . Along with Robertsons Jam Factory at Stevenson St. Vienna’s as you called it was more famous as Toledo Juntion in the 80’s along with Armstrongs lounge underneath it , my favourite place back then . The original Bungalow was situated at the bottom of Renfrew Road which is now a Japanese sushi restaurant. I watched some iconic bands there back in the late70’s. Further up Renfrew Road you had the old Brabloch Hotel which had a great wee bar in it which is now flats at the entrance to Gallowhill. Another two famous nightspots were Valentino’s nightclub in Silk Street which became Paris le club back in the 70’s run by a wee guy called Davy Walter’s. Another wee night club was at the end of Forbes place called Zowies, there was also Jimmy lavertes Wine bar in New Street and the George lounge bar in Causeyside st which later burned down. Obviously the biggest employers in the town was the two Mills Anchor and Ferguslie making the famous threads and the Paisley Pattern of course. My mum sister and grandmother all worked there. Neilston Road still has the famous 3 bars whose names have never changed in over 60years. The Charleston Arms, The Tannahil and the Clachan. I lived at 112 Neilston Road and my mum used to send me down to The Charleston to open the door and shouting “Dad your teas oot “ 🤣. Great memories of our great wee Town to add to your history Kev.👍🏻🥰
Lived in a tenement in Ferguslee park for a short period when I was eight. thankfully it was demolished and replaced with proper houses many years ago.
Great video Kev I'm missing all the fun I'm in Calpe in Spain right now then off to Benidorm on Thursday if I bump into you I will get you a pint or a pie at the footie COYS from Brian the Buddies

If you were a hill walker Kev you might have sheltered in a howf in the mountains. Usually a make-shift space under huge boulders to escape bad weather. It was The Tech in my day, 81-84 Biology. Cheers, fae Hobart!
