Thanks for the education once again, Richard. Take care of your shoulder and overall health and well being. Btw, I noticed you have a mascot back there. Please introduce him to us sometime. 😊
I work at a GM dealer. The converter pipe assembly is original and not Borla. The pipe has to drop to get the pan out. The cat-back exhaust section is borla. We typically change the 6L80Es on a weekly basis
I wish there was someone who cared this much about rebuilds like you do in my area. I've been battling for 8 months now to get a 4L60e rebuilt properly.
@@richardteresacricheducatio3542 We are all human sir... Thank you for continuing your educational videos. You wouldn't by chance have a good HD 4x4 TH350 core laying around would you? That would be the case with the 6 bolt aluminum torque converter cover... Looking for a replacement for the bad case for my daughters 1979 K5 Blazer...
I learn something new every video. I’ve watched all of your videos over the years and find them so interesting. Well done camera person. And you also Richard!
I love your videos, but the customer overhaul at 3600 miles, and how clean it was,the customer paying I know, the truck is impressive, but it a change to see a good box being dismantled, that’s for the video, great to see you both doing these videos.
I did my 2015 6L80 at home with help from your videos and a lot of sonax parts. I used a performance kit from Sun Coast for the clutches. Changed all the bearings and bushings. For my torque converter, I used a double disk Circle D. I just serviced it a couple weeks ago at about 30k miles after break in and my pan was as clean as the one you took off that one. I think I would rather do one of them than most of the older transmissions. Other then needing some specific tools they seem to be a fairly easy rebuild.
I've got a 98 f150 thats never had the transmission fluid and filter changed still works great! Over 300,000 miles on it. Only thing thats been put in it was a little bottle of shutter stop about 20 years ago.
Hi Richard! I'll probably never work on an auto trans (both my vehicles are 5spd mans), but it's always interesting to watch you put your wisdom, experience, and wizardry to work! Glad to see you're making good progress with your shoulder! Great cam work, Teresa!
Awesome video's Richard we do so many of these down under in Australia spicily the v6 models they always break the neck on the converter resulting in oil leaks an we always install external trans coolers they go for ever love ur videos
I worked for a vehicle manufacturer doing tech training. Our powertrains for classes were often from test vehicles and crashed proving vehicles and had less than 1000 miles. The oil pump scoring was present in 75% of them. I'm not sure if initial start dry or machining swarf was the cause. I expect to see it and evidence of it without deep gouges is normal.
Love seeing this newer unit! Would be awesome to see you do some upgrades to one of the new Ten speed ford/Chevy trannies. Been really wondering what my options are on it.
You always amaze me with your knowledge. I have done sticks before but never an automatic and I highly doubt I ever will unless I have someone who knows how to get it all back together CORRECTLY LOL.
I might add for you to always mention on these 6L80E tranny's to make sure either the thermostat gets modified, or the factory recall has been installed. I found out about it last Sept/Oct. '22, and took my '18 GMC Sierra into the dealer to have it installed.....they didn't even know about it yet, but I took the Tech update sheet I found online in to them, they ordered it & had it installed. It can be identified by the "70" stamped into it. Ever since that, the service writer always tells me "we've been installing so many of those upgrade stats...we got the notice from GM right after we did your truck". As always, great job Richard & Teresa!
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Glad to have found you again and added you to my routine watch list. Always interesting and entertaining to see how things work in transmissions. Seems like you primarily stick to traditional card and trucks. Is there anything different with front wheel drive cars that one wouldn’t expect? If I had the money I’d love to see a tear down and recommendations for my car but alas I’m thinking you probably don’t do VW products. 😂. Thanks again for coming back onto UA-cam and looking forward to seeing more videos in the future. Wishing you and your family the best.
@@laudennn There was a company which gifted Richard with a new parts washing machine which did a great job of cleaning the parts. That machine is what I was referring to. I unsubscribed from the 'other, old channel' and subscribed to the new one because of Richard and his experience. I like good design and good machinery which can make life and work easier.
Before I did my 6L80 I read from GM that if you have a 7 check ball valve body that you should change it to the 8 ball style. They also recommend changing to the later 8 ball separator plate if you have the earlier 8 ball plate.
I love watching your videos on the Chevy Silverado transmission I have the 2017 Silverado I bought used from a guy in Florida so fare no issues I did do the thermostat disabler on this transmission and runs about 25 degrees cooler..I do change the fluid in the transmission by a pump for its dip stick..no shavings have been sucked up as of yet..no filter change I keep the fluid changed all the time it starts getting a little dark we change the fluid..my big question I have seen you take apart many of these transmission ok...my question is can you run a different fluid in them I no type F is thicker and thinking it would help keep from burning out the pump and tork coveter your thoughts please..thanks in advance MK..
Mine costed 6200 to replace. Is that in the ball park for one? I don't know what they did to it. They did set the cooler bypass to flow all the time. It runs about 40 degrees cooler now. I put it to the test this past weekend it did good.
Very sad that the heart of those transmissions are weak and wear fast, the pump ! Should be steel, not aluminum please. Would be nice to see this one going back together.
Just curious Richard. Why would you put bushings in a transmission with 3500 miles on it? That just seems super unnecessary. Maybe the front and rear at minimum but they should all be perfect.
Hi Richard. I am wondering if the new Ford/GM 10 speed has or is coming your way? I'm hearing there is some sort of drama going on with it. I can say I got issues with it. Hopefully you can debunk this.
I wonder if the corrosion on the transmission case is galvanic in nature rather than caused directly by road treatment. It's so even all the way around.
Too many commercials...sorry..but this is making it hard for me to watch....yeah i know if i don't want commercials...then pay....i get it that you need to generate revenue, but balance how many you put in....other sites with this long of videos don't have as many.... I love your videos bin making me want to get into rebuilding GM transmissions 🤙
Awesome video, you know your shit.
We from Texas, y'all 😊
I would always put a rear main seal in it prone to leaking.
So nice for you guys to not have burned fluid and its horrible smell. Too bad you did not keep the parts washer from the old shop.
hey trent did more than wash parts

Natural oxidation, never drove in winter or rain. Corrosion Free coating.

Back at ya guys. Richard how do you add tow/haul to an Ls swap 60e? Do they make a kit? I'm not finding anything on UA-cam
Richard where would you recommend purchasing rebuild kit for TH350 transmission, only goes in reverse. Thank You love your videos
I would recommend Transtar Oklahoma City worldwide

Are you gonna be able to handle the big yellow snap ring pliers after your shoulder surgery
Just curious Richard. Why would you put bushings in a transmission with 3500 miles on it? That just seems super unnecessary. Maybe the front and rear at minimum but they should all be perfect.
Sonnax bushings are way better than factory GM along with their bearing kits
What happened to you working precision transmission was subscribed to the channel and it disappeared?
Retired 😊

The exhaust that close to the pan is a bad idea.
Why is this transmission being rebuilt?
Why is this unit in for repair?
Does B&I ship to Georgia and offer free shipping
👍
Hey where can I buy a transmission rebuild kit for my early 1965 mustang with the 260 with the automatic transmission ?
What was the Trans-Go product beside the Zip-kit box???
Good morning sir, How do we get ahold of you? I am in need of a 700r4 your knowledge and expertise I'm interested in working with you sir.
I wouldn't sacrifice heating up my transmission for fake dual exhaust. I'd rather have stock exhaust and deep pan . That's me
I wonder if the corrosion on the transmission case is galvanic in nature rather than caused directly by road treatment. It's so even all the way around.
Never drove in winter or in rain. Age corrosion
How do you feel about external coolers on the 6L80E ?
And do you believe there is such a thing as being too cool?
Like 130 to 160 °F
on the cooler there's a sticker blocking off apart of the cooler.
Dodge?
If they don't want the s on Illinois why don't the get rid of it?😁
2017 chevy
Is Richard really back ???
How do I contact you about a trans Overhaul Thanks!

The commercials are not controlled by Richard, it is you tube that decides what and how many commercials are shown...
If the commercials are running at times during his video means that he is getting monetized💰. That's a good thing. 👍
