    My mom, who is 68 and looks incredible, has never used an active EVER. Just simple cleanser and moisturizer. She’s one of those people that are just blessed with perfect skin. I seem to be heading in the same direction as her (fingers crossed) and am allergic to lots of actives. Hopefully, I’ll age as beautifully as she has.

      My skin is sensitive, and photosensitive, so actives are a no go for me. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser, CeraVe, and lots of sunblock are just about it. Sometimes I play with snail mucin.
      I will say the stress of developing an autoimmune disease at 35 was very aging, but over the past year or so I've been reversing the stress and inflammation induced damage.

      I was thinking the same- thats fantastic lighting. Love those mirrors that are basically ring lights. Makes me feel like a million bucks.
      But also... Dr. Idriss is definitely team chemical exfoliation. Like pretty sure that's what the first girl was saying. Dullness comes without any kind of exfoliation. And chemically removing that layer of dull,dead skin is exactly what all of the youtube derms are pushing. Burn it off.
      Personally, gently rubbing my face with a super clean waffle weave towel out of the shower a couple times a week....gentler and preferable to AHA or BHA or glycolic acid. Throw in an occasionally rice flour/rice powder exfoliation every month or so... Chefs kiss. Follow with jojoba oil and then a thick layer of cerave cream or aquaphor. Wake up with glass skin.
      Gentle physical exfoliators exist. But chemical exfoliators probably have a higher profit margin. I mean the towel is free.

      Same here. I also sweat a gallon everyday. Even though I use sunscreen everyday religiously. Keeping sunscreen intact is a struggle. Keeping moisturizer intact is also a struggle. People panic seeing me sweat that much.

      I feel you so bad! What helps for me is putting pimple patches on areas with sebaceous filament, and they make nose strip versions of those (though I unfortunately haven't found them in the stores I frequent yet). That'll help clear things out without fucking up your skin, and physically covers your skin so you CANT pick at it. The OP of this also recommends bum paste for repairing your skin barrier, and she has some videos of the exact brand she uses, but I think what really matters is the zinc in it.

    Was there someone sitting on the toilet to the right just after she came on?! I rewatched this WAY too many times trying to figure this out!!😂😂
    Also, I send ur videos to my 26 y/o on the regular. I ❤ this channel and learn so much. I’m 49 and everyone says I look like I’m in my 30’s but I want my daughter to learn from my mistakes. I’m from an Irish Swedish family and we don’t tan, so thankfully I either avoided the sun all together or applied spf 1,000 on repeat but my 4 kids abs love to twn and are sun worshippers. 😢😢

    Why do we have to take things to extreme every blooming time? Remember all those makeup gurus and later Instagram tutorials with layers and layers of make up products? Well, it was nice to see that they were substituted with girls doing skin care instead of piling up make up camouflage in order to hide skin issues and lack of proper care. BUT - now we have piling and layering skin care as a must, 12 steps routines and people peeling like snakes from all sorts of clinical grade this and that active. If yo are constantly inflamed or reactive, when your skin is going to heel and feel/look healthy? It's a life in agony only to have - what exactly? You will grow old. And how you'll look depends on genetics 80%, than your health/lifestyle. Topical care is about 2%, unless you are doing in office procedures. That's the truth we dont' talk about enough. If you are genetically blessed, you won this game. If you are not, you'll have to put some money and work and to endure some pain in order to get close to people with genetically good skin. People use tretinoin and tripping it's all that. It's not. For people with good skin who have few pimples - it can be all that. But in majority of cases, it's not just home skin care and not just one or three products. I LOVE Shereene. But, if you listen to her for some time, you'll realize that she is open about using next to everything available in her office - on regular bases and for years, in order to have skin looking this good. And she has good skin to start with. Few issues here and there, pregnancy hormonal melasma, discolorations, nothing really grave. Finally, 'glass skin' BS. Sorry, but in most cases it an oil slick. Not glass. Few decades back, it was a huge no-no for a lady to have shiny face, especially nose and T zone. Everyone was wearing compact powder with them blotting away and checking if they were shiny during the day. Now, people slap oil on their face and call it class skin. It's for very young faces and mostly for Asian faces, which are doll like, child like. Adult lady with different bone structure and fat distribution will look awful with that oil slick effect on her face.

    Is a 0.3 retinol to low after a year should I go higher?

    • @AshPaddyCOYS
      @AshPaddyCOYS Місяць тому

      It depends on a lot of factors. If you're happy with the results of your retinol, then stay where you are. But if there's a particular problem you want to address - anti-aging, hyperpigmentation, etc and you feel like it's not getting better then you can try going up to 0.5 to begin with. But remember to pair it with a good cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. If it's a stubborn problem area then check out other actives that can help. Also remember, if you have skin of colour (like me) or sensitive skin then you should tread carefully so you don't make it worse. I'm not a derm but consult a derm if it's bothering you
