I agree! I use Skin B5 tablets and MSM Sulphur powder. Take both orally. If I use those along with a clean diet free of animal products I can control my skin. Soon as I stop, it comes back. (MSM powder is super cheap…$17 for a big tub here in Australia and it shuts down oil production).

I did see a dramatic decline in sebaceous filaments on the nose and white heads in my forehead area. However I couldn’t say how much the cleanser actually contribute because I use a lot of other products at the same time. Nevertheless, my skin is now clearer than it’s ever been. Big thanks to you my favorite derm!

Dairy isn't the problem, it's the processes that make it bad for you. Raw and unprocessed dairy, like homemade, would benefit you a lot more, as it hasn't been stripped of it's bacteria and microbiome that keeps our guts and GI tract healthy.
They have a Sulfur bar soap for face and body at walmart for $5 if you want to try introducing sulfur without paying so much for brands like Kate Somerville ($44)
I used sulfur back in the 90s and it was super effective. The form of it I used was extremely affordable, but a little stinky. So I didn't use it before a date, but otherwise it was fine. The form: onion juice. I just gently rub a fresh slice of raw onion over clean skin before bed. Voilà!
@@crunchysound what is onion peel recipe? What kind of tips? Hmm well... hot water compresses help with minor skin inflammation, like pimples and eczema.
I’m not gonna lie. Where I live most people of all ages have nice, clear, smooth skin. When I moved back to this area my skin was in shambles but after a few months my skin started to look as good and clear as everyone else’s. I think air quality played a part in this for me. I’m sure a doctor could scientifically disprove what I’m saying and that’s fine. However, I also know when I went to see a dermatologist to help me clear up my skin, my skin still looked bad after following their recommendations.
Where do you live? And how far was it from where you were before? I don't mean to be creepy, i just want to know about the weather, humidity and water mineral content. Regional habits may have an effect too, maybe the climate favors indoors x outdoor activities or specific kinds of bacteria and or deterring minerals. A vague answer is fine if you feel unconfortable. I glad your city has your skin covered 😂❤
No you're right. Weather and the water you have play huge roles into your face and scalp. I live in a really humid and warm city with not so good quality of water. So no matter how much i wash my face I'm still gonna get some pimple here and there, and the water always makes my scalp so itchy which doesn't help the scalp fungus i already have due to the humidity of my city. When i traveled to a more dry place my pimples all disappeared
True. Some people’s skin is more sensitive to the environment and/or particles than others. My acne broke out like no other when I lived in Seoul. To this day, I believe it was the dust in the air that clogged my pores. I now live somewhere with hard water (the water leaves white limestone residue when it dries), and I started breaking out immediately after moving to an apartment without a water softener. Seems particles make me break out. 🤷🏼♀️
Thank you! But Now Im a bit confused 🙈😅 for acneprone skin I should use salicylic acid cleanser 2 times a week, I just started that (AHA BHA) and now I saw this. Can I use sulfur cleanser everyday and still salicylic acid 2 times a week? What to you think about high frequency? 🥰 Thank you!!!! 😃😍🙏🏽
My skin feels so beautiful the morning after using a night time surfer treatment. All of my little bumps and clogged pores smooth out. My redness is gone. I used to use it as a last resort because of the smell but now I realize using it regularly keeps my usual skin problems at bay. SO worth it.
Cosmetic chemist here. Sulfur in a cleanser has actually no time to do its job, just like any other active ingredient we are going to put in something that stays on the skin for a minute before rinsing. It's likely that the skin just needed a different cleansing formula if you happen to be happier with the sulfur product in comparison to whatever you were using before, especially if you switch from foamy to creamy.
She mentions that when using a sulfur cleanser/cleanser with any active that they need time to sit on the skin to do...well, anything other than just cleanse pretty often actually 😊
she recommends massaging the face with the cleanser and then wear it like a face mask while you do other things around the house. preferably for a minimum of 20 min before rinsing.
does it change the effects if you massage it in and let it sit for 10 minutes? i always felt like this about my salicylic acid cleanser. like how is it supposed to work if i lather it on for a minute and immediately rinse it off?? so i started massaging my cleansers in and leaving them on for 10 minutes.
“You’re doing everything right and your skin still looks like this” *shows skin with a couple of the tiniest blemishes I’ve ever seen, skin that I would DREAM of having*
Totally get it!! But there are people like me who would not know what to do if my skin acted up like that. I wish everyone could just have perfect skin and we could spend our time worrying about things that matter more. Good luck w your skin journey x
I followed her advice and started to use a sulfur cleanser as a mask around my nose (sebaceous filaments) I only used it twice so far and seen results on the spot but the next day they reappeared… do you guys know how this works? Do I have to use it regularly for better lasting results?
Is there anything equivalent to a sulphur cleanser for someone with a SULFA/Bactrim allergy? I remember in another video you spoke about how people with SULFA allergies should avoid sulphur cleansers, and as someone with that allergy and blackheads on my nose, is the only other option salicylic acid? Thank you!!
I bought the exact kate somerville cleanser due to your recommendation and used it for 2 months AM and PM, leaving on for at least 10min, and it did nothing to reduce the look of sebaceous filaments (didn't have any clogged pores so can't comment on that). But then I used ISDIN 100mg/g benzoyl peroxide covered with thick white layer of La Roche Posay Cicaplast B5+ and my sebaceous filaments improved by well over 60% overnight, they were barely visible in the morning. ISDIN on it's own was not enough tho when I tried it alone (when sebaceous reappeared in 2 days time) - as if it helps and my pores oxidise overnight again, the very important part is putting thick occlusive on top to not let pores oxidise again. As someone with oily T zone, nothing else helped and I tried A LOT, and no one was talking about face basting for sebaceous filaments specifically - would love to hear your opinion!
can you do a video on severely dry skin with red spotting, i don’t think it’s rosacea just an inflamed skin barrier. i used to have such nice even toned skin :(

As a perimenopausal woman- my skin has changed completely. At this point, the only things I’m using are a boutique soap with a soft washcloth and Cocokind Ceramide barrier serum and cream. Anything else drys me out, and/or breaks me out. During my early 40’s I had perioral dermatitis that went undiagnosed for a year or two, and had to use Metrogel to clear it up once I Googled all the symptoms and asked my dr if that’s what I had.🤦🏼♀️ It looks and acts like acne around the nose and mouth but never really clears up. My skin is finally soft, smooth and mostly blemish free now. 🎉
Sulfur honestly almost affected my eyes… I used the De La Cruz Sulfur Ointment and I honestly hadn’t used it in a very long time, forgot about the whole “only 10 minutes” limit, though only kept it on as a temporary mask, this was under even my eyes (entire face treatment : right). I rinsed it off and dried with my towel. As soon as I sat down… Cause I was going to later shower, wasn’t going to moisturize right away (plus sulfur’s scent : I would’ve liked to double cleanse with Dove’s bar soap to help reduce the scent). ~ My eyes immediately started itching, watering, releasing tears, couldn’t even keep it open from how reactive it started getting & I immediately look up on my phone what’s sulfur reactions to the eyes or what about if sulfur is near the eyes - All results are about “chemical burns”. I immediately ran over & my eyes are both red & watering like tears. I washed my hands and quickly flushed my eyes with cool water & cleanse my eye area to eyebrows to entire face & rinse & flushed with water my eyes & thankfully, my eyes cleared bright white again. And I was scared to relieved. Thankfully. Decided to never use it again. It gave me a terrible reaction (should Never be used for a bit of time & if you feel even heated or dizzy to lightheaded or especially never use it as a face mask or even near the eyes : It’s actually a dangerous chemical 😂😂). I would’ve never thought.’ I ended up using it again a couple days after to spot treat painful hormonal cysts (my menses was approaching at the time and it was only relieved with clean extraction & treating it : Nothing solved it completely like actually having my menses on its day 1: surprisingly: everything calmed down immediately & my skin turned lusciously glowy). Fast forward now, I feel Benzoyl Peroxide (Panoxyl’s 10% BP Cleanser), though it’s a great clear skin staple, and does help treat hormonal acne the best - I feel it honestly makes my skin so dull overtime and like scabbed. I’m giving my skin a gentle break (it helps with glow surprisingly). My skin type is sensitive and dry, with mild dehydrated bits, I feel mostly on the forehead and maybe eye area. *PS, ♥️ La Roche Posay’s Double Repair Moisturizer [UV] immediately calms down its redness, with Niacinamide and ceramides; Also is an irritant to the eyes from having its sunscreen portion, so I’ve been double layering moisturizers, Eucerin’s Original Healing Lotion is great as an overall thick, occlusive/creamy moisturizer, and the LRP one stings (has Hyaluronic Acid: beneficial but it stings my skin & I’ve only gave its moisturizer a chance recently because of its benefits: Really good post-Benzoyl Peroxide to soothe redness, and to treat dehydrated skin. Though LRP has great products, I may preference Eucerin (even their Advanced Repair Lotion is amazing for body & face💯) & Aquaphor’s Baby Healing Ointment as a spot treatment & even on the lips to seal & repair (making sure it’s not too close to ingest) much more, even Vaseline with Cocoa Butter. 💯 [I like LRP’s moisturizer so far though : great post-BP** & its products during my esthetician’s past usage of them: Eucerin & Aquaphor may be more preferable though : for my like skin types! 🥰] So from my experience, sulfur definitely varies 😂😂 And I love how your past videos helped with validating the fact for me too (thank you!) • I honestly stopped liking it. Made me terribly reactive (purged my skin to the point my eyes got red red & watering). 😂 ‘Terrible. I think it was only kept for 7-12 minutes maximum too. Cause I was in between talking with someone even during a quick mask & rinsed it. To being so irritated to even keep my eyes opened (Goodness Forbid!) 😂😮💨🙏🏼 Stay safe! Spot treatment, even with use of a cotton q-tip is likely the safest bet I feel.
My sulfur mask is a holy grail for sure! I have been using the De La Cruz ointment frequently (sometimes nightly when I’m around my cycle) and I love it so much I cut open the tube and scrape every bit of product out before opening my new tube even though it’s inexpensive. It might not smell good but I’m on my 3rd tube since this time last year so I hope I never have to replace it! Make sure to leave your sulfur treatment on for 10-15 minutes before rinsing it off, though. I’m 43 years old and my skin glows so much I have been asked if I was pregnant a few different times 😅🫣🤗
Eating good also plays a HUGE part in good skin. I realized food like ice cream, condensed milk or desserts containing condensed milk, chicken skin, and eating hot foods during the summer rather than the winter. When I say hot foods it's not the tempuratures, it's the heat of the ingredient. For example, chicken is hot, but fish isn't. Turmeric is hot, but yoghurt and milk isn't. That's why homemade face packs that include turmeric needs to have something cool to counter the heat. These are foods that I found that affected my skin, maybe it's different for you. For my best friend it was milk and milk or white chocolate that was causing her acne. She had much better skincare routine than me, but it didn't seem to work so she went to the dermatologist and doctor, and that's how she found out. It broke her heart because she absolutely loved chocolate and milk, but once she swapped it with dark chocolate and alternative milk, it helped clear her acne. So once I started eating more vegetarian food during the summer and meat during winter and switched ice cream with fruit yoghurt or gelato and completely stopped condensed milk and including chicken or duck skin when I cook chicken or duck. My acne cleared up completely even when I had 'bad skin care routine'. Once I started taking care of my skin, I kept my products simple, and it really helped with removing all the acne scars I had.
This is interesting but could you elaborate on what you mean by hot and cold foods? Like most people I know of eat fish hot so not really sure what this means. Is it referring to the temperature of the regions where these types of foods were historically most consumed? As far as I know, Chicken is consumed still a lot in cold countries, and fish in hot countries as well like Portugal and Spain, so I'm a bit confused as to what this means
@@mist8814 yeah I know it's confusing but in most Asian countries there is this concept that food can be warm or cold for your body. If eating wrong it could make you sick or over heat your body. So I eat fish hot as well but it's more cooling for my body than chicken or meat. Chicken, ginger, turmeric are all foods that are warm for the body. So you eat such foods largely during winter or when you are sick. That's why chicken soup is healing for sick people. Foods like yoghurt, cucumbers, fish, most vegetables, melons and gourds, are all cool for the body. When you eat them, even when it's cooked and warm, it leaves your body feeling lighter and cooler. It's perfect during summer but sometimes you could get sick. For example, Mango is very hot, on its own if consumed a little too much during the summer season it could cause acne and boils. But this fruit is produced best in the summer, so we soak the mango in water for a while to get rid of the heat or leave it in the fridge. Guava is a fruit that is very cool. Since I have a sensitive throat I used to avoid guava because I'd get a throat ache. However my grandma would put salt and chilli powder to balance the cool of the guava with the heat from the chilli powder. Eating it this way significantly reduced the times I would get a throat ache. Also we aren't supposed to drink water after eating guava because water is cooling and will result you in getting sick. Another example is alcohol. It helps warm your body. People living in colder regions eat a lot of meat and drink alcohol because that's more suited for your body when you live there, but in a warmer country like India, being largely vegetarian helps kepp your body cool which is perfect for surviving the heat. You can search online for foods that are warm or cool for your body and can plan when to eat what.
I love washing my face with my hands. Freshly washed hands of course 😉. And remember those makeup brushes and sponges! Deep clean them and also have a spot cleaner for in between deep cleans.
My face stops breaking out, when I add a few drops of dandelion extract, into to my water, each day. Acne can be a result of a sluggish liver, and dandelion is good to help the liver create more bile, to help break things down - and not create build up in the body, that will cause issue, such as acne.

I've had acne and extremely oily skin since i was 8, I'm 40. How come no doctor or aesthetician ever suggested Niacinamide? It's been a game changer. My skin is almost blemish free and now my makeup doesn't split after a few hours.
Ever since i had mini circles of goosbumps kind of patches that appeared seasonally and my dermatologist took one look at it brought up a huge book and was like: Sulfur soap and a gentle body moisturizer. My mom thought it was a joke but it worked. Turns out allergies mess up my skin barrier and i was too little to start an allergy treatment just for smth thay doesn't really bother me but bothers my mom. He helped me realise there was such a thing as a skin barrier and how to regulate it. That helped me through puberty a lot with back acne and with my hoohaa health.
Cutting out dairy is the only thing that ever cleared my acne. It’s been 9 years and I haven’t looked back. I was 31 and wish I’d done it sooner in my life. The acne annihilated my confidence. I’m so grateful it’s gone, and it went fast with this.

Same! I’ve had acne since I was 9 thought it was would go away but it never did I now have acne plus the scarring and now I’m 42 I have rosacia as well. In my 20’s I got some laser and skin peels and they worked really well for about 8 years but it all returned..
True
Your husband probably doesn't have oily skin. You could try vitamin A supplements or microdose Accutane to cut down on the oil.
For me I have to remember to wash my pillow cases often or change them often
Evry 3.days all sleep Blankets pillows needs to be changed.thats normal for me, as African....i learn from my Mother. I have best skin.
Sulphur has changed my life. Learned it here a few months ago. Thank you!
Hi! How do you use it? Do you let it sit before washing it off?
which product did you get?
I already purchased the Kate Somerville Cleanser you recommended and have been using it for 6 months now.
The sulfur just unlocked a memory where i used to use a sulfur cream that stank but worked great when i was 13
Could you post more about rosacea, please?
Seconding this!!
Also change your pillowcase often. Dont touch you face a lot, its easy to pick up bad habbits of touching your without even realizing it.❤
YES!!! Every day. It sounds excessive, but use one side, flip it for the next day, change on third day to brand new pillowcase/wash your old one. I cannot stress this enough. Also bonnets for EVERYONE no matter the hair texture, so your hair oils and products don’t accumulate on the pillow case and get transferred to your face!!
I cut out dairy, especially yoghurt. My adult acne cleared. I wish I’d know this in my 20s 😢
I'm glad it worked for you but I cannot live without dairy lol 😭😭
I started drinking raw milk and cut out processed foods, mine cleared up.
Dairy breaks me out, but i love cheese!
@@omgheather1you could just cut back, you don’t have to cut it out completely. The dairy alternatives that exist these days are pretty good too.
Dairy isn't the problem, it's the processes that make it bad for you. Raw and unprocessed dairy, like homemade, would benefit you a lot more, as it hasn't been stripped of it's bacteria and microbiome that keeps our guts and GI tract healthy.
Your confidence is inspiring.
My skin has improved A LOT since I started using paper towels instead

I used sulfur back in the 90s and it was super effective. The form of it I used was extremely affordable, but a little stinky. So I didn't use it before a date, but otherwise it was fine. The form: onion juice.
I just gently rub a fresh slice of raw onion over clean skin before bed. Voilà!

That happen to me too. I go to college in different city and BAM! My skin is better than it'll ever be in my home town.
Pollution and different types of tap water can really affect your skin.
Thank you! But Now Im a bit confused 🙈😅 for acneprone skin I should use salicylic acid cleanser 2 times a week, I just started that (AHA BHA) and now I saw this. Can I use sulfur cleanser everyday and still salicylic acid 2 times a week?

Hi, is there a cheaper drugstore version for a good sulfur cleanser that you recommend for acne prone skin?
I don't even use a towel. I just air dry. 😂
She's addressed this. She says to put it on and let it sit.
she recommends massaging the face with the cleanser and then wear it like a face mask while you do other things around the house. preferably for a minimum of 20 min before rinsing.
does it change the effects if you massage it in and let it sit for 10 minutes? i always felt like this about my salicylic acid cleanser. like how is it supposed to work if i lather it on for a minute and immediately rinse it off?? so i started massaging my cleansers in and leaving them on for 10 minutes.
@@xnwnwhaaaa????? She recommends leaving SOAP on the face for TWENTY MINUTES????

Thank you for your videos, seriously. I'm not impressed by many at all, but you're amazing! Thank you, again! ♡♡♡
2nd time watching I noticed your husband in the background. 😂
I followed her advice and started to use a sulfur cleanser as a mask around my nose (sebaceous filaments) I only used it twice so far and seen results on the spot but the next day they reappeared… do you guys know how this works? Do I have to use it regularly for better lasting results?
Where can I get those little face towels?? Thanks
As someone with oily T zone, nothing else helped and I tried A LOT, and no one was talking about face basting for sebaceous filaments specifically - would love to hear your opinion!
this sound so complicated
Yeah can you make a tutorial video howd you do it? Please?

My eyes immediately started itching, watering, releasing tears, couldn’t even keep it open from how reactive it started getting & I immediately look up on my phone what’s sulfur reactions to the eyes or what about if sulfur is near the eyes - All results are about “chemical burns”.
I would’ve never thought.’
I ended up using it again a couple days after to spot treat painful hormonal cysts (my menses was approaching at the time and it was only relieved with clean extraction & treating it : Nothing solved it completely like actually having my menses on its day 1: surprisingly: everything calmed down immediately & my skin turned lusciously glowy).
So from my experience, sulfur definitely varies 😂😂 And I love how your past videos helped with validating the fact for me too (thank you!) • I honestly stopped liking it.
Cheaper alternatives for sulfur cleansers? $40 is a lot for Kate Somerville eradikate
Thanks for the tip! Love hubby in the background chilling hehe
Do u make the mask or buy it?
It's sooooo greasy though lol
Thank you for giving real skin advice. A lot of dermatologist write a prescription and send you on your way😭😭
My nose has clogged pores, but there's white gunk coming out of them instead. Is the sulfur cleanser supposed to help with that too?
Yes
