If I want to top up the waterproofing, do I do the full cleaning with the shoe cleaning solution? Or is it that if I use the shoe cleaning solution then I inherently should use the shoe creme? I have a new pair of Hanwag Anvik GTX but they were sitting in a warehouse for who knows how long, I heard that for boots you tend to take out in the snow that you should apply a waterproofing treatment, even if they are suppose to be waterproof out of the box as they may have sat in a warehouse for so long. But I am warned that it is not good to apply the shoe creme on a new pair of nubuck leather boots as it will turn it into a full grain leather. I am having a hard time figuring out what to do in my particular case. I have emailed Lowa, the company the made the waterproofing and the creme, and the boot manufacturer Hanwag about this issue, and their answers are still not that clear. Any advice?
Is cleaning the inside required too? How do you recommend doing that? It happens that I often step into swampy areas, therefore my boots get soaked from the inside also.
Hey there! The Lowa shoe cleaning spray can also be used to clean the inside of your boots. Give them a good spray and scrub (best you can) inside and a good rinse will freshen them up!
What about suede hiking boots? I had used a was and all it did was make the leather a magnet for dust. Should I stick with a silicone type spray? Thanks
Hey Ryan, best to check with the instructions from the manufacturer for your boots. If they are Lowa's, you can follow our video guide or their care instructions here www.lowaboots.com.au/pages/boot-care?srsltid=AfmBOorcx5JFdfRMUvO2UWdup_9-ufNcNSIvyWdipWHcIWkRSY_YqhgL
Hey Lewis! It is recommended using Lowa care products only on your boots. You can read their care guidelines here: www.lowaboots.com.au/pages/boot-care?srsltid=AfmBOooZN1MOueBT5sNKg0Hl-iXkBjoUyo2-dvFG30RiIsvC6VLIaz0x
Since I don’t use my boots so often, and they’re not so dirty (yet 4 months has passed) would you recommend using only the waterproof spray or shall I clean and use the conditioner as well?
Great video, really handy thanks!
Used the laces from my Tibet Wides as prussik loops on my last canyon. Good gear these Lowas !
Definitely some of our favourite boots out there!
Just because of this video, I wanna clean my boots now, even if they are quite clean :D

Hello, do you wait for the boots to dry off after the rinsing to apply water resistance spray ? Or you put that on the wet boot?
Hey! Mickey applies the water resistance spray when his boots are still damp.
And i assume the conditioner also, thank you for the answer
I use an old toothbrush to get into the groves underneath the boot.

Hey there! Completely up to you! It can't hurt to give them a clean and condition, Lowa do recommend using care products every 3 months.
Would you recommend applying wax to brand new leather boots ... Before they are even used.
Some people do! It's generally not necessary as most come waxed ready to go but it won't hurt them. All comes down to personal preference!
If they gortex lined generally no. It can clog up the pores and can trap stuff between the liner and the wax.
@@BarefootPhilanthropist Thanks, in the end I didn't bother with the wax
Just use a power washer tbh
