I don’t know a single person who goes to the track, I imagine most people buy bikes to daily or socially ride, not everyone is trying to be Valentino Rossi 😅
Did grab one of these new, and have put in close to a hundred miles in last couple of days (despite working from home).
Because it's just so fun to ride, even around a traffic filled city.
Another big factor that put it ahead of competition like the 8s or the 660, was the healthy aftermarket and plethora of well documented maintenance and upgrade examples.
A simple bike that has seen several years of continued production (much like a DR-Z just to a lesser degree), seemed a better choice for a hands on mechanic.
Looking for a trade in for one of these this week. It is popular but does not really get the respect, now that the MT-07 is just starting to fall out of favour, the CP2 engine is getting a little long in the tooth and with it being labelled a dreaded _beginner bike.._ my ego took a while to appreciate it.
This is a beautiful bike that has spent its quality on the components and wasted none on gadgets. No comp to inline 4 in performance or insurance.
As someone who loves to feel the ride, but to also have a bike that is cheap to fix and maintain. R7 hits that spot and has wheelie torque for days.
Same bud. I've had 2 I4s(cb650f, zx6r), and I like the motor on my ratty old (new to me) ER6F better for the roads here in NE Scotland (Cairngorms).Don't get me wrong, I like to ride around way too fast, but with the i4s you need to be sky high in the revs coming out of a corner or you're just left waiting for something to happen. On the ER I have midrange enough to get decent pull out of bends and still make very naughty progress. I'd love to try the CP2 with the 270 crank because I know it's meant to be similar but better than the kawa 650.

Yes, the 600 4s are more exhilarating, and it's fine doing a big pull on a straight road, but I'd bet I wouldn't be any slower though a series of unfamiliar bends on the r7 vs r6.
I own a 650 twin and ive had a couple 600 4s, and I i honestly much prefer the 20-40hp less powerful 650 for thrashing on the road. When I had a zx6r I was doing 120+ all the time. My punchy wee er6f(1st gen) gets to 90 plenty fast enough and some rides I don't even bother going over 100.
In 25 years riding ive never had a bike anything like as fast as an H2 or zzr14. I'm sure I'd love it but I'm also sure I'd be going WAY too fast all the time.
I adore my R7 but it sounds like a lawnmower tbh, I’ve just ordered a roadsitalia exhaust for mine, should make the sound leagues better.

Do you just go to your local dealers and ask for test rides for these vids or do you get approached yourself?
I approached them initially when I reached a certain number of subs, however they were hesitant at the start as they weren't sure whether the reach would help them sell bikes. They've had a few sales where people have mentioned the channel, so now they're happy for me to take the bikes out regularly.
Contemporary stock exhausts are awful
