- This week we are laser cutting, engraving and UV printing coasters with the logos of microbreweries from all around Canada.
We've used our Speedy 400 and Speedy 300 FLEXX laser engraving machines as well as our Mutoh 426UF UV printer!
We've created 13 unique coasters each with its own engraving technique. The Mutoh UV printer is available for distribution in Ontario.

Hi, i always visit this site to learn some techniques and ideas. For the Nokomis coaster, after engraving and cutting, how did you clean the burn black edges? what cleaning product did you use and what are the settings? Im using the speedy 400 flexx. please if you can help me. Thank you in advance.
Great machine Big imagination thx Man
Danzel Lover Thanks we appriciate that!
Trotec Canada hi man i have trotec rayjet 30 great machine
Danzel Lover nice! You can easily do all of these coasters on a Rayjet!
Yo quiero aprender 😵😥!!! Donde puedo? Están lindísimo los portavasos 😎👍
was the artwork done on Corel?
Why playing music and why so LOUD?
I wonder what kind'a paint you are using, as by now not anyone could tell me what paint to use to avoid lasered areas not to start cracking, either at once or later.
did the laser etch out the wood for North Brewing Company wood coasters?
Wow, great work! Which of these would you say can go through a machine dishwasher? Or should I more consider them to be a kind of hand out for guests to bring home rather than reuse at a restaurant?
Both, it depends on which item you're using, the metal acrylic and plastics can easily be re-used and washed.
@@TrotecLaserCanada Cool, thanks!
Great video. Thank you for the effort. Please turn the volume down on the music drastically or get rid of it all together. Thanks
Can you engrave the back side of extruded mirrored acrylic? I currently do it on my CNC router but a laser would be more efficient and cleaner.
Yes you can, check out our video about it here: ua-cam.com/video/-DpwWeobs8A/v-deo.html
Especially if you have a FLEXX (with Fiber and CO2 laser source) the Fiber makes a flawless engraving and the CO2 can cut with flame-polished edges.
como faz pra deixar a gravação bem branca no acrílico transparente?
tickness 2 ?
how much are the machines you used in this video. I think it was 3 different ones? i live in alberta
We may have used a few different ones :) but only out of convenience you can do them all on a Speedy 100 flexx
What is the pricing for a smaller unit...and what is the price of this unit?
Thanks!
:)
Hi Jason, unfortunetly we cant give pricing online. Could you provide your email and country you are residung in and we will contact yoh with pricing. Thanks!
@Long Range Rifle The reason they do that is so they can change the prices on the fly, I am still not sure why they dont give a range. Smaller machines are from 2200-4000 depending on features.
Inside speed for engraving! How fast is it going, in mm/s ?
Our fastest laser the Speedy 400 can go at max speed of 4.2 m/sec
Keep these types of videos coming please! Awesome for inspiration. What wattage is the CO2 laser? I have a Speedy 360 80W and was wondering how I would adjust the settings for cutting Smart-X with my laser? Also, would you know the settings to cut 10mm Smart-X with a 80W? Thanks.
Thanks Wendy! Much appreciated and we certainly will! The Speedy 400 is a 100w, but you can make all of these on a 60w Speedy 100 (it will just take you longer). For Smart-X, click on the SETTINGS DOCUMENT in the description of this video and you will see it there. You need to do it in 3 quick passes. Since yours is 80w, try a bit more power and that should do it.
how much for the uv printer and the dual laser
Hi David, if you email us at youtube@troteclaser.com we can provide more details
Hello, Does cutting through the UV-printed area cause the ink/print to bubble along the edge when you cut through the print? I've run into this problem using a Mutoh 426uF + a speedy400.
Great question, that does happen with some inks and some UV models yes. There are some acrylic adhesives you can buy from a 3rd party source for stronger adhesion. We would suggest to contact your UV printer rep and ask, they can likely point you in the right direction.
Do you guys sell these substrates? I would like to try some of these methods. TIA
Yes we sell every single material that is in this video. What country are you in?

What model is it??
NOKOMIS, Que material es? lo tienen en su linea de materiales trotec? como se llama?
Hola, sí todos los materiales están en la descripción del video. Estos son todos los materiales de Trotec.
Hi, please could you mention what the material is for the yellow coaster?
That's our TroLase material that comes in 1/8", 1/16" and 1/32" thickness. You can find it on our website at www.engraving-supplies.ca thanks!
.001 offset the profile for press fit
We usually find 0.007" works best, but it's trial-and-error
I notice you cut the first coasters out upside down..I have found that when cutting acrylic the bottom edge is always sharper than the top ( first laser contact point) is this typical or am I doing something wrong? or is this the case when you cut the first coasters out and are ok with the sharp edge being on the top side vs the bottom? also I get the z offset, but what resolution are you using? thanks
Chris Smith hi Chris, what laser do you have? what wattage ? and how thick is the acrylic that you are cutting?
As for the z-offset, if we engrave in focus the acrylic will turn white, thus when we spray paint the colour on the back you wont see it from the front. We go out of focus on the z offset to engrave the acrylic clearly. As for the resolution the settings we used are in the link the description of the video.
I have an epilog helix 50 watt, cutting and engraving 1/8 cast acrylic
I think I managed..only hard part is trying to engrave through the multiple layers of paint
I’m from Sweden 🇸🇪 I want to buy this laser machine
Please tell me the name of machine and the price and where I can find it
Videos Random Hello there! Please email youtube@troteclaser.ca with your details and we will pass the info to our partners in Sweeden.
how much?
What settings were used to cut and engrave the TroGlass Colour Gloss for the Driftwood Brewery?
Hi Gabriel, it's in the link in the description Row 5 and 6. docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_ChmGY6lGTvIYBPRSGdtNxPZSL4z4LtW7xOG3RS-zWY/edit#gid=0
Thank You
Hello 👋🏼 can you please tell me laser model that your using for the video?
👍
Hi Mark, the Speedy 400
Very nice Presentation! How would i ensure, that the inlay is as you mentioned 0.001 inch thicker than the cutout? I have custom shapes and i am not sure on how to copy and scale them correctly.
Can we buy from you in the US?
of course, are you looking for a laser, materials or both?
what this laser cost?
Hi there, please email us at youtube@troteclaser.com and the country you're located in. Thanks!
Excellent video...except for the irritating repetitive music. The host is excellent. I've got a modified K40.
can i work in trotec as laser operator :(
sorry we are not hiring in Canada at the moment
Waoooo v nice... How much brother???
What country?
the music makes this video unwatchable can you upload it without it please
what is price
hi Sushil, we cannot give pricing over the internet. What is your email and country of residence?
I think the video would've been better and less distracting without the background music. Nice ideas though.
Thanks for watching. We appreciate your feedback and will keep it in mind for our next video.
The music is incredibly annoying! LOL
Can you stop this awfull music ?
You talk too fast man and the music is too loud
Stop that awfull music !
That first coaster was awful, you could barely ready the word 'Brewery'. If you tried to sell those to a client they'd laugh in your face.
