My 240 starts like a champ. Going full throttle kills it. Gotta feather the throttle to use it. (brand new mix in it every time, air filter is flawless).

My 240 had a starving problem . When I took it appart,I foud out that the feed line to the carb is a double wall conduit and the inner one had pinched it self by the vacuum force ot the carb. . .It has run great ever since I've replace the tube. .

Is there supposed to be two filters, one on the carb feed and one on the primer return line? I have to replace all fuel tubes on my 240. I found one filter and one fuel line splicer. Not sure which line they csme off of. I suspect th one off the carborater. .

Only One Fuel Filter on Carb feed
The splicer is for the return line and it goes inside the fuel Tank.
It's just there to keep the fuel line from coming out of tank easily thru the Hole in tank.

Great video. No need to apologize for the length.
I’m doing this for first time. Replaced all 3 fuel lines and cleaned carb w brake cleaner. I get it to start but bogs down when I pull throttle and won’t idle. I had I running for several minutes but wave to keep the throttle going up sneaky down.
Can’t decide if it’s worth buying a new carb or trying a rebuild. I don’t have comprehension tester. Feels ok.
I’ll prob throw it in the trash. I can’t afford a new one. I’m screwed I guess.
    Great video though. Thanks.

    • @sartingarage8045
      @sartingarage8045  4 роки тому

It bogs when you throttle most likely the Low or High Speed is to lean or Rich.
Or the Carb fuel passages in carb are still stopped up. If your certain the carb is clear and good. Need to adjust Carb. The video I have on this saw is part 2 that shows you where to put those screws after Carb rebuild. Saw should run decent just putting those screws close to factory setting that is in Part 2 Video. If saw will not run at factory settings. More than likely Carb is still plugged up somewhere. In part 2 video shows you how to check to make sure carb is clear by removing the adjustment screws and spray WD-40 thru the low and high speed. Video shows where WD should come out.

Sartin Garage thank you. I watched all 3 videos twice last night. I’m going to order the kit from eBay and give another shot. I prob didn’t clean carb very well. Only the surface. The kit is any about $15. Seems too cheap to be true.

Sartin Garage and then there’s the idler screw. What’s the factory setting on that? I lost track of it trying to adjust.
The high and low requires a special tool but I think comes in the kit.

Good videos! I have a 235 and I'm in process of fuel line replacement and carburetor rebuild. The fuel lines that are in the tank have a slicer on each line. What is their purpose? Do they affect/regulate the fuel and venting or just stopping the lines from being pulled out to far? Do they need too be put back in place or can they be discarded?
    Thank You, Darin

👍 2 more questions, I purchased a aftermarket carb kit with everything mainly just for the accessories and carb tool. While I was waiting on my zama rebuild kit to arrive I installed the aftermarket carb just to see how she would do. I didn't expect much since the whole kit was $15. It was worth it just for the accessories. I have fuel coming out of the muffler. Is this a diaphragm issue keeping the needle valve open and if fuel has managed to get in the crankcase how do I remove the fuel?
Thank You for your time! Darin

    • @sartingarage8045

I accidentally ripped out my duck bill so I replaced that and the brass(?) Plug. I rebuilt the carb with the brand name kit. When I put it together and prime I do not pull much, if any, fual through and end up pressurizing the fuel tank. It's like I'm pulling fuel through the jets. Do I just have a bad carburetor? It's a 2 barrel carb
There are several reasons for a 2 barrel vs a 1 barrel
After a certain engine size 1 barrel doesn't have enough air flow without making the Carb huge
And sometimes each barrel will supply air to one cylinder and the second barrel will supply the 2nd cylinder

Duckbill goes in from top next to carb in very back corner where carb is.
I use chain link fence tie wire to remove fuel filters. Cut off about 6 to 8 inches, bend one end to a U shape, Maybe in your case a 90 degree would work better.

    • @sartingarage8045

Most likely will be the same Carb kit
I look at the numbers on the carb
On a Zama carb there will be C1Q stamped in one spot on carb, Then in another spot will be stamped like S68. Then you put those numbers together with a dash in between.
So C1Q-S68. Then just search for a kit for that carb number
