Being from Cape May I take for granted all the unique things and events that happened in the town, very cool to get a game based in the area. All of the text on the cards and the buildings shown are all real events or places, my church is one of the 2 that were shown. Hopefully there's an event card that is the flooding of South Cape May, which is now under water!
I think I have a reason now to design blueprints for cities thanks to this game. Even the game could be a good display of a city on a coffee table with those cute houses on it, meeples walking around the city, and the board being the ground for the city.
I'm surprised I don't hear about this game more. To me, it is the perfect "level up" from Monopoly and so, so, so much fun. It's got property acquisition but with neat twists and turns.
This game looks gorgeous! Seems to have a bit of a Cthulhu Mythos type of game feel to it. The event cards, the movement around the board, the ocean being so close... maybe Dagon awaits in the waves ready to strike this resort town at any moment!
Thanks for another How to Play, Rodney! By the way, this video brought me interest to this game. My first time seeing and hearing about it, I'll dig for more !
Ok Mr. Smith, lets talk about this box twirl stunt you pull off so beautifully every video. Do you destroy your blooper reels or are you saving them for an epic anniversary video release.....or are you simply always amazing?
We got this game for Christmas and it is SO FUN...and so full of both strategy and surprises! I thought I was doing awesome because I was accumulating radical wealth throughout the game, but then, at the end, because offices don't count for that part, and because my husband had built more landmarks than me, HE won! Can you believe it?!? XD Anyway, it was not only an super fun game to play, but those buildings are A-MA-ZING!!!! Even the little tokens of the cottages and stores...if you turn them over, they show the opposite side of the buildings. That's a really nice touch. Somebody has really thought about balancing the elements of this game, and the design of it as well. The game has a great feel of whimsy, but the historical element is fascinating and anchors it into history. I had no IDEA so many things had happened to Cape May, nor would I have ever even considered that something like the World Fair would've hurt the tourism of Cape May for a while. Awesome game.
Well we got it for Christmas and it did NOT disappoint. We have already played it 6 times. It is a lot of fun, has a good variety and strategy!! Thanks for introducing me to yet another winner!!!
Solid job on another game that did not have as much press. Wish Paula was along with you on this one as she had the awesome "in costume" preview video for Cape May as well.
Hey Rodney! Love this game so far. Quick question: I have a bonus card that reads “have at least 6 buildings adjacent to or across the street from a church”. The back of the rule packet shows the STREET spaces that are adjacent to the churches, but I’m unclear on what counts as across the street building spaces or adjacent to building spaces. Thanks for the great video!
Hey Beef! Glad you’re enjoying. I’m travelling right now, so I’m not near my copy to check. You might be able to get an answer on Board Game Geek? Sorry I couldn’t be more help!
With a LITTLE less card and action variety, I'd say this would be the perfect game to replace Monopoly at family gatherings. As for me, I'm definitely interested. Feels like an awesome "bigger" companion to one of my favorites, Santa Monica.
i'll say something a little provoking here, but wouldn't this apply to many other games? "less is more" is a philosophy that i wish i could see more often in the board game market...or maybe it's just me who can't find anybody willing to play games more complex than monopoly or risk *sigh*
@@QuestLink Yeah, I think it depends on a person's particular situation, sometimes "more" is more. For me, it varies from group to group. Sometimes I'm looking for something with less complexity, and other times I enjoy all the extra things to factor in and consider.
@@QuestLink I agree that a lot of these games become a lot harder to get to the table to those of us who usually (or always) play with people who are not board game enthusiasts. In my case, I can get a couple of plays a year of something a little more involved. But mostly I have to keep renewing my party game collection to get some variety, because those are the ones I can get to play more often. That said, I'm personally very enticed by these mid-weight games with lots of varied cards etc. I just know I won't get to play them often at this point in life 😉
Thank you Rodney, I am hoping to bring this to the table tonight and used your video to refresh my memory :-) Also, I liked the little lantern in your background, and that it was on! I then wonder about the story behind it... (where is that little lantern? do we still have lampoil? ) I love details like this. Also, fun game. Great video.
I hope you have a great time playing :) I found the lamp at a shop and really liked it - thought it would add a nice little touch without being too distracting.
Thanks for the video! I think in light of the increasing number of solo players out there, you may wish to begin dedicating a few minutes of your videos to address some solo rules. It'd be nice to know what type of solo play it is before purchasing.
I can appreciate the interest! Not something I plan to do currently, however, we have recently launched a solo series on the channel (Table For 1) to try to assist out solo gamer friends, who are looking for a game that might be a good fit.
Hey I'm Tiynuwan I like every video you do and I have a little question😆 How many board games do you have? I have 3 board board games and those are monoploy, chess and checkers. Not exactly sure what you're asking (can be tricky sometimes when communicating just through text when we don't have the board in front of each other).
@@WatchItPlayed at 6:36 mark there is an example, at the top left on Lafaeyette, would those two buildings be considered adjacent(the one directly above the painted on the board cream color house) and the one directly to its lefT? I assume this is what he/she means but Im not positive

Hey, it's really cool to hear from someone from that area - thanks for sharing that!
I live in Cape May! Really hope the game mentions the African American history here as well. Still waiting for my Kickstarter copy!
When this came up on my newsfeed on Facebook, I knew I had to get it since I’m living in cape may at the moment myself.
@@MrDirtydaves No kidding! I had a friend of mine reach out because they saw the spot on the board near where they would vacation!
That is so cool! I learned so much from the events that happen in this game!
