Great video. Definitely agree that Lily works great on modern controls. You still have crouching/standing and back heavy punch on modern which are her best buttons. The lack of a reversal is going to be ab problem once more people figure out that she's kind of free if you knock her down. Still a lot of fun to play though!
First..... This is basically A "Getting *Blank* Character to Floor 10" Video. But for SF6. Jiyuna saving SF6. Parry Hondas. Win streaks. Doing those will multiply your win points i think.
so there's a thing for glicko based match making, where part of the points you win and lose for a match is the predicted outcome. there's a few factors to how many points you get, a volatile variable that sees things like you're winning a bunch of matches in a row so you're clearly under ranked for your play so the volatility goes up. then there's the prediction based on your rank : if you're fighting people "stronger" than you, then you win more points if you win and lose less if you lose, and the opposite is true as well. it's the game trying to put you at your appropriate rank, ie a 50/50 win-loss rate (which feels like shit when you're in there, making it feel like you're in "elo hell") (elo is the weaker version of glicko btw) so in the beginning, when the game has no idea what your skill level is, your volatility is near maximum but your assumed base ranking is set when you say you're a casual or advanced. these are your "placement" matches, and you'll gain a crazy amount of points if you have a win streak early on. but as players get properly set into their appropriate ranks your volatility goes down, and you'll earn a pittance of points outside of win streaks because you're performing where the ranking system thinks you're at with a high degree of confidence. it's when you get a winstreak that the game starts thinking maybe you had a mental breakthrough or hit practice mode and your now "above" your same ranked peers, and it desperately wants to bring your win rate back down to 50%, so your player pool becomes wider and your volatility goes up, until you start losing again to drop it back down.
This makes sense and works pretty well I’d imagine. Win streaks mean your currently overpowered, so getting you back to where you belong via streak bonuses makes a lot of sense so that smurfs can’t just noob stomp with 50 point wins all day.
tbh if you can space it she doesnt need to have wind, with wind every condor dash is +1 but if you hit with the end of the normal dashes you can be up to +5
Dragon kicks animation is really slow and you can Di it pretty easily if your opponent is abusing the move. It's only plus 1 on block and you can't get a combo out of it without a counter hit. Also blocking after it is the best option, because ken doesn't have a high damaging command trow. The move isn't an overhead so you can block it crouching. Also lilys ex goes trough fire balls, kens doesn't (bad move against fire ball characters). Both really good characters, but comparing these spesific move to one another doesn't really matter, they are two complete different moves with different goals in mind.
She has a weird anti air with Cr. HP they have to be deep in their jump for it to hit. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make it more consistent. This video is much appreciated.
I main Cammy. Best option is dp because Lily's goes so far forward. But blocking divekick isn't so bad, it's harder to make plus on block than it seems
Hey Jiyuna, how do you do 360s on the hitbox? I recently modded my old arcade stick to one for sf6, and the only way I can get them is if I tap the buttons really slowly. I'm maining Ken atm so no big deal but you never know what the future brings.

Ah idk, as a newcomer to the genre, that last example with the auto combo changing depending on whether the opponent is blocking is very uninteresting/unimpressive to me.
Lily DP beats Honda headbutt, as well as heavy and air Blanka balls. Honda is considered in an aerial state during headbutt, and aerial attacks lose to tomahawk buster. The timing is rough up close, but if you see him just trying to headbutt from fullscreen, you can light DP to try and follow him for pressure or heavy buster to keep him at a distance and maybe get a wind charge. That's at least what seems to work so far when i fight Honda.

You need very good reactions and timing. They can mix up the speed with different versions. The for sure answer is dp but again you need good reactions
I've spent most of my time with Lily so far and I really felt the lack of a reliable anti air normal, If anything gets changed in a balance patch it's getting that hit box expanded she needs it. Juri's crouching heavy punch in comparison is like an anti aircraft missile you don't get to jump on her unless you jump up close. Looking forward to seeing more of these my offence is slowly getting better but people spam jabs so much in silver/gold it's hard to pressure them.
Lilys crouching heavy punch is her anti air and it’s VERY good. Use the hit that strikes right above you (the first hit) then cancel into spire for a nice damage anti air combo.
Wifi not the end of the world like SF 5. Having a better connection and experience on red bar Asian server versus all green North American server is my issue 😂
Ppl just need to stop playing in this stupid passive walk back and throw out specials. Like yeah you'll hit gold by triggering weaker players but the character can do so much more! She is a faster T Hawk with more and better moves.
@@limmel3588she has tons of depth, people are only scratching the surface of what she’s capable of. Her oki for an example has many ways to be super plus on block giving her a free command grab/frame trap mix
What do you think about japanese players thinking lily is bottom tier? I know tier lists have been going wild lately, but its slowly settling with lily on bottom on most lists, thoughts?
Tier Lists are based on high level play. Her simple gameplan definitely won't work up there, but it's strong for the average player. Don't worry about Tier Lists.

I like how Lily has to build up wind stocks to get plus frames on her approach, but Ken just dragon kick all day for plus frames.
Lily has the command grab though, so scarier situation once she’s in.

If you do medium spire after her back throw your +3, She needs more labbing but she also has amazing whiff punishing compared to most of the cast.

watching you get absolutely rolled by a match-up your uncomfortable with is honestly very validating as a new player.
Only way to learn is by losing and seeing what the problems were.
