@taya no cell phones doesn't mean no phones period. They aren't banned from talking to family. I know people these days think cell phones are w necessity but there was a time, in my lifetime, where we didn't have cell phones at all. It's not that serious
@We Vibin Why would they have to sit at home waiting for a call? You think the managers don’t have cell phones? Idols are very busy, there’s no way that they can just randomly call when their family is around. Even if they had a cell phone that part would remain the same. You clearly would like to make it seem like idols are being completely isolated from their friends and family because they can’t use their own phones to call. I would counter - what would change about their busy schedule if they had their phone? They still couldn’t call whenever they wanted. They would still miss calls and encounter problems reaching family. It doesn’t have anything to do with access to a personal phone, it’s their schedules that are creating no time. And they knew this, both the idols and their families, ahead of time. Being an idol is a ton of work.
@We Vibin also, you seem to be under the impression that people need instantaneous communication at all times. While it may be true that technology has allowed instantaneous communication - it is not necessary. I’m sure it feels necessary to some, but you are the one making it such, not the people you are communicating with. No one is going to die waiting until the end of a work schedule to talk to someone else. Billions do it everyday. Micro communicating everything is not necessarily healthy nor should it be expected. Not just for idols - in ANY profession.
Among the big three, it was JYP that always had an international mindset & courted international fans by inviting in foreign trainees into the company. Many from the US, China, Japan and Taiwan. And it worked. Look at the international following of the likes of Rain, Sunmi, got7, Stray Kids, 2PM etc. I get why they wanted the trainees to exhibit versatility and hard wok by making them sing only foreign language songs. SHOWNU can barely speak English, but his English pronounciation while singing is flawless beyond belief. He was a famous JYP trainee before getting kicked out of the company.
J-Hope was giving his stage name and had to have a personality that matched his name. He had to be the member who always smiles and is always happy and therefore become the sunshine of BTS. Yoongi was very surprised/condfused at their decision and he said Hobi was literally the most depressed person he ever met (and Yoongi was very depressed at that time as well, so that’s saying a lot) . He said they should’ve called him “J-sad” instead of “J-Hope”. When asked what Hobi’s charm is he said “my tears, because you will rarely ever see them”
Actually, j-hope look really charming af without smiling. He give g dragon vibe, I don't really like his goofy smile personality, but maybe bang pd don't want him to be depressed 24/7. At least he smile in stage or Infront other people.
also i read/watch somewhere that SM ent. allows their artist to date but only inside their company. and the reason was "it is easier to handle once rumors come out".
Nctzens know how clumsy that kid is 😂 his cool image for the media He’s actually really shows his lovely side on their videos and the interaction with the members
I always think about the groups that DO win these shows whenever this issue pops up since I usually feel that the live shows give off a different more sincere vibe. The vast majority of them force themselves to stop crying or show too much emotion on camera but many can’t and I’m pretty sure this behavior is automatic as it is so ingrained into their KPop personas (except Dreamcatcher’s win which was felt all over the world like rando ppl on the other side of the continent spontaneously burst into tears and will probably never know it was because of Yoohyeon’s sob during her verse.)
I mean I do understand the reason why many idols aren't allowed to take photos with fans but at the same time, people will try and make them look bad in other ways anyways, it's not fair towards the millions of actual fans that just wants a harmless picture with their idols Momo's case breaks my heart every time I hear about it, and it pisses me off seeing people defend JYP saying "he didn't force her to eat ice cubes she chose to do so", they threatened with not letting her debut unless she lost an unhealthy amount of weight in a very short space of time and that forced her to go on that awful "diet"
Some fans are into kpop for fantasies, the company is feeding them that, that's why the Idols have to look like a perfect boyfriend/girlfriend material with high talents and unbelievable visuals.
L mostly appears in other shows or music stage. But with INFINITE members, they're a chaotic bunch. One of the naturally funny groups. So you always see Myungsoo being weird and laughing out loud. Like fans can easily tell if he's Myungsoo or L. haha. I remember a show of Lovelyz where Eunhyuk was their manager. After a tiring activity, they asked for snacks and the girls went for a cut of raw veggies or half an egg. Then, before retiring, they had to measure their weight. 2 members should not exceed 90lbs together. So those who gained a few grams had to work out before even sleeping. But that's the price they have to pay for fame and money. Everyone has to carry their own cross.
These peaple became idols bse they have passion for performing and singing and then they literally craft an image for years for idols so that the image they want can benefit the companies financially...this is a hard job.. they sacrifice alot....imagine how idols feel behind the scenes......
The weight and dating thing are the worst ones. Let these people live. Also keeping Jin from being himself is ridiculous he is such a goofball that he's fun to watch.. you can hold back Mr. World Wide's big personality back.
The most ridiculous rule like.u asked...is turning away or not making any eye contact with opposite male idols..what is that weird rule?...its extreme ..now i get why some idol groups don't cheer for other idols when performing on award shows bse of the narrative the companies build and push like dating scandal and delulu and saseng behavior. develop bse fans entitlement...I don't even get why this is normalised🙄....its scary...idols go through alot ....its scary how much they change and sacrifice and I even worse to some idols who are not even treated nicely and yet have to follow some ridiculous rules
This is really wild to me. Idk how kpop fans can like something like this. A lot singers and artists here in the states and other western artists are so well liked because of their real personalities. There's no acting or pretending. I just don't understand why it can't be the same way in kpop. I'm sure if they got rid of these fake personas, it would make kpop artists a lot more relatable, and maybe fans can finally get rid of the God complex they have for their fav idols.
K pop industry has so much rules its not easy to being an idol im feeling bad for all the idols who suffer alot of hardships i know sometime company think of their raputation but its too harsh for them to handle ao i hope comapny dont being too harsh and let them do whatever they want to do they r also human beings who deserve freedom
Having a stage persona/idol persona can be a good thing, because there is a separation between the idol and the person. Unfortunately, they're sold as a reality and when the idol then doesn't match that reality, there can be backlash. The worst though are the diets, especially for kids still growing to not get proper nutrition is dangerous for their development.
I don't know if this is the strictest compared to insane dieting, but I know some companies carry the "not taking photos with fans" rule over to other celebrities or idols who aren't in the same company. I remember when Sorn took Minnie and Lisa out to lunch one time, they could not film Lisa at all. Sorn had to edit a picture of her every time she spoke. I believe the reason was that Sorn's vlog at the time was owned by CUBE, so YG didn't want their artist appearing on the competition's content. Since then, though, Lisa seems to be like "f it" and takes pictures with Sorn and Minnie on the regular. I just remember finding it so odd that showing Lisa eating a meal with friends was seen as promoting another artist. Meanwhile whenever Sana and Miyeon interact both fandoms benefit from it. I don't it harms either company to show that other idols exist. But... YG be YG.
I remember that, but I thought it was because it was before BLACKPINK's comeback and Lisa had changed her hair or something, which would be considered a spoiler. Same reason a lot of idols will wear hats on livestreams right before a comeback, they can't show their new look before teaser images come out.
part of the gender splitting regulations are to be appretiated tho how many senior female idols have already stated from experience that especially female young Trainees/Rookies are total preys in the industry so it's not all that bad having them safe (at least to a certain extent)
How an Inspirit can I speak but the whole fandom to say that we loved L more when he acted more like himself, which we could see in Infinite. show time
The most painful one to hear was the extreme dieting thing. I can't believe Momo went thru that! I mean, this is her health we are talking about, she could've been hospitalized or worse! I remember watching "Sixteen" and how she struggled as a trainee to debut, but now knowing that she also was under extreme pressure to lose weight even before she appeared in the program is devasting! But I think I understand why I have never seen BTS on "The Return of Superman" before, even tho TXT has been on the show. It might have to do w/their company's negotiations or formal contracts/relationships with other companies, and how, as mentioned in this video, they are not allowed to work with companies that do not have a third-party relationship or entity w/their parent company.
ONLY 38 KILOS!? I need a more specific age range, and the individuals heights. As I were 40kg in either middle school or high school (don't remember) But Im quite short
Two toxic rules: strict diet and no dating. Both are toxic, unreasonably silly rules, to remain polite. No wonder some of the most fragiles commit suicide. It’s dangerous for the mental health. I wonder if these agencies educated fans to make them believe that idols “belong to them”, or if fans are demanding the agencies to “educate “ idols to be perfect
@@sofypi7493 that’s not strictly true. Many of them are actual artists, and later go on to have much more artistic input. Some are producers. Some are choreographers that have input. There is an overarching ‘brand’ that is created with an idol group though that definitely is very strictly held to for a long time.
The most annoying scenario is weight maintenance it sacks. Momo and Jimin were on diet busy suckling ice-cubes. As if their agencies can do the same thing to their children. Kimberly to maintain 38kgs!?? These companies are run by evil inhuman people
@@kanaphan7646 dear still like you said the situation is disgusting and it's really absurd companies treat idols in a very bad way. Can't imagine what'd have happened to Momo and Kimberly 😢😢😢😢dying of malnutrition
Jmin did it himself. It wasn't the company's fault he decided he was gonna stop eating.. and it also isn't anybody else's fault but his considering he chose to debut knowing he doesn't fit the standard.
@@meemaw2200 doesn’t fit the standard ? What are you even talking about. He wasn’t even fat or chubby, he had baby fat on his cheeks and thats it. What you’re saying is exactly why idols are dieting and putting themselves in danger.
The extreme control HYBE exerts over their idols is not only laughable, but severely damaging for these young ppl. BTS have no friends in the industry. None. JK tries hard with his 97 liner business, but the members went on record time and time again how everyone else is now intimidated by them, and it sucks. They unwillingly became these hermits in the industry that they helped so much to expand and grow. And the other HYBE idols are under the smae scrutiny. They are barely allowed to mingle and socialize with other idols outsisde of the HYBE family. I see TXT members being more social of late. They get hosting gigs and show up on UA-cam talkshows. I guess Big Hit understood the evil of their ways and are not making the same misakes they made with BTS.
But at least with other idol groups under Hybe, BTS can now get to interact with other idols. I always felt a lil sad for them before coz while they’re having fun, it’s always just them. Now, I see them doing dance challenges with other idols and it’s cute, coz it’s one of the things I love about SM, YG, JYP families -- the interaction with other idols. Hopefully they will also get to freely interact with others from other companies and actually do more Korean variety shows.
Are you sure, though? I think BTS have friends (even female friends) but ARMY always make controversies about it, so they learned to remain private about it. Jin is friend with LABOUM SolBin, and she was hardly critized for it. SUGA is friend with SF9 ZuHo (and ZuHo is also friend with RV Wendy), so it's possible SUGA is also friend with RV since they know since debut. SUGA is also a friend of IU to some extend. V is friend with SNSD Yoona and EXO BaekHyun. JiMin is friend with EXO Kai and SHINee TaeMin... And so on...
@@jl1836 they are not allowed to talk about other groups. They cannot promote or encourage them publicly. Jimin’s friendship with Taemin shocks me quite honestly. I suppose they pay some lip service to the likes of BingBang, Rain and Taemin but that’s it. Suga has this UA-cam talk show now - all of his guests are BTS or other Hybe talent like SVT or TXT. It’s like he is working for the PR and promotion department of Hybe it seems.
the jyp one makes me wonder if that's the reason jinni got kicked out.. woojin got kicked out and was exposed for going to a bar.. i'm not saying thats why she got kicked out but the possibility isnt zero.
The phone rules. That's make remind me when Baekhyun in Happy Together he said that he is kinda jealous with his junior got their phone during their trainee days.
Stayc is my ult gg and I didn't even know about the phone ban! It's so crazy to me actually, those poor girls must be under such high pressure... I really enjoy stayc's music and content so knowing this really breaks my heart! I find it very frustrating that the company expects so mich of them when they already achieved so much! They made the company already more rich, so why not be proud of the girls? The company's ceo should congratulate them and uplift them instead of putting them under more pressure! If it continues like that the girls will get a burnout soon and not get to enjoy their job truly
I wonder if Korean trainees aren’t allowed to sing Korean songs for the evaluations I’m wondering for foreign trainees in JYP if they got to sing Korean songs. And I don’t know if this is true or not but I have heard if trainees have a condition that makes them loss weight extremely fast they won’t have to participate in the dieting system and if someone knows the name of that condition please tell me cuss I also have that condition where I eat as much as I want but i don’t gain weight as of today I still weight 6 stone
i feel jaehyun and yunho from ateez have kinda similar cases. jaehyun was cute before his debut and became serous after while yunho had a more serious image and "hip hop" vibe and changed to the church oppa now
SM also tried to get SuJu's Heechul to play the cold mysterious prince type, which lasted for all of 3 seconds until he opened his mouth and turned into a petty young mistress.
I think jyp's rules are not strict it just protect their idols as there are so many antis, if any idol goes to that kind a bar they can spread rumours that they assault someone or something like that and the next part, recently leeknow attended leemujin service and he stated a song he sang at monthly evaluation and it's Korean so ig the rule has changed
Well bighit failed...😂 Seokjin can't facade being cold for long..nahhh his carefree, bright and energetic personality can't take it😂😂😂😂😂.....but fr though....idols go through alot
And Jimin's 'tough guy' macho image in the beginning. He really hated that. I watch 'No More Dream' and think...who are these guys?? 😅 I'm glad they didn't have to put up the facade for too long.
Jin being "bright and energetic" is a persona, too, though. He has talked a lot about not having many friends, sleeping 12+ hours a day and struggling to eat enough when he has no schedule. His song "Abyss" is about his mental health issues. But he prefers to keep the atmosphere light and funny when he's around others on camera.
Well good luck investing in female idols that are out of shape and see yourself regret when your group struggles to compete in music shows & award shows. This will lead to having a less exposures to public due to attracting relatively smaller number of fans, which will lead to revenue loss due to lack of albums sales, ticket sales, and smaller ad values with the group's less exposures to people. This will eventually make the company hard to maintain the business and finally file the bankrupt.
Starvation diets don't make people look like they are "in shape". They just make them skinny and they might make them crave fast food even more. That could lead to an eternal battle between fast food binging and dieting instead of just eating healthy and having enough energy to exercise.
For momo I almost feel that was on her for taking it that far since she really wanted to debut, and she didn't make weight and they gave her 7 extra days I believe. But will never really know since we don't work for jype back then. In either case the main thing is that's not how they are now, or at least how it seems to be now. No idea on the Kimberly one though as I don't know her or when she was with jype. Most of jype rules are pretty reasonable to me though, specially since your supposed to take it seriously and be passionate about ur idol career. Like the 3 yr dating ban when u debut, makes sense to me. I can understand the bar one for guy groups to not make scandals but doesn't seem right and hope it's one rule that's gone lol but every job like this has rules, the one hockey one I know is when ur drafted no motorcycles since your young and an investment to your team.
I kind of get it actually, these idols and their companies are selling the idea of idols being nice people, truthful people, literally the type of perfect that normally doesn't exist. So them having specific personalities and appearances is just so that they can sell this idea and it makes them money, yes it is sad but their goal is to make good money!
Dieting rules are the worst but it seems less strict nowadays as there are a few more 'normal' looking female idols. Unfortunately they get a lot of hate so they then resort to extreme dieting anyway! 😢
BLACKPINK couldn't interact with male trainees when they were trainees, that's why they have an akward relationship with WINNER and iKON mostly, they also don't have any kind of bond with TREASURE... The only exception could be Song Mino, maybe.
The BTS one is because they were mistreated during 3rd party variety shows. The rule was for their own protection. Remember when Jungkook tried to buy the cast members of Flower Crew food but they rejected it so rudely? (look it up it will make you want to punch Jo Seho in the face) And other times when show hosts have made the boys feel uncomfortable by asking invasive questions...
I heard that bts were mistreated by the hosts of the several variety shows that's why their made a variety show for them so that they can open up more and have fun....i am confused now🤔
You heard right. As an old ARMY, I can testify, the treatment they got from Korean medias during their first 5 years was horrible. So much underhanded stuff, haughty condescendance, backhanded comments..., even blatant lies, public defamation, fabricated lawsuits and disregard of protocols and professional rules by journalists and broadcasting stations were happening. People really acted like entitled a..h.les to BTS, BigHit ans their staffs just out of prejudice and an inflated sense of mean superiority towards a lesser, struggling artists and company. I still remember the epic sarcastic fit I got into, watching the 2018 MAMA awards live : BTS got a presidential welcome on the show, arriving in a black limo and specially prepared red carpet leading them to the big door. THAT WAS SUCH A HYPOCRITICAL 180° TURN ON HOW THEY HAD TREATED THEM UNTIL NOW. All because they happen to spoke at the UN that year and be congratulated by A LOT of heavy international political figures, all calling the Korean Ambassy to give praises and good words about BTS and ARMYs actions... And THAT couldn't be ignored. They couldn't treat BTS with less than what the UN had showed them ; or their honour and image would completely get spoiled. (They STILL kept doubting and disminishing those Billboard and other American awards wins, though... until 2020 happened and they COULDN'T because BTS fame got way too big to ignore, even for the most stubborn delusional person.) HYBE refusing to work with some broadcast stations and imposing them their methods as much as they can is just them ensuring nobody can mess with their artists and staffs' images, work, performances and well-being anymore - like they did with BTS. Yeah, those 7 are kinda isolated in the industry. But it wasn't out of choice that BigHit closeted them off to its own self-produced media contents. And ARMY didn't become the fiercest and most proactive fandom out of nothing. We actually had to. protect. Our. Boys and company. From. All .that. b..llsh.t. Hopes it clear things up.
Taking there phone is not a good take . The girls are working hard . It's not girls fault that ur company is broke ass plus bad promoter and have bad song producers an writers. The girls are extremely talented. 🤨

At least he smile in stage or Infront other people.
also i read/watch somewhere that SM ent. allows their artist to date but only inside their company. and the reason was "it is easier to handle once rumors come out".
actually it makes sense!
Maybe you shouldn’t believe everything you read or watch if there is no logics behind it 🥴
@@caribbeanstudies5340 It something HeeChul from SJ said himself, so I think it's pretty reliable...
It’s horrible what idols have to go through just to be a singer/entertainer…
Nctzens know how clumsy that kid is 😂 his cool image for the media
He’s actually really shows his lovely side on their videos and the interaction with the members
I feel so bad for L , he has such a great personality.... I think woollim is doing the same to bomin now
Many rules are stupid but extreme dieting is life threatening. I seriously fear for many idols health.
I mean I do understand the reason why many idols aren't allowed to take photos with fans but at the same time, people will try and make them look bad in other ways anyways, it's not fair towards the millions of actual fans that just wants a harmless picture with their idols
Momo's case breaks my heart every time I hear about it, and it pisses me off seeing people defend JYP saying "he didn't force her to eat ice cubes she chose to do so", they threatened with not letting her debut unless she lost an unhealthy amount of weight in a very short space of time and that forced her to go on that awful "diet"
Im just happy for myungsoo (L) i love infinite always had and will always do so for me i want them to be happy
Just the weight management rules is crazy to me because it can lead to health problems. But the rest is understandable to a degree.
They given a certain role to every idol
I understand the rule of not going into the bars with only women servers. That could be seen as a scandal. Y’all know how K pop fans overreact.
It is so unfair that they can’t even show their real personalities 😢
Coming out of the closet is strictly forbidden as well
The weight and dating thing are the worst ones.
Do they want robots??? It is honestly sad idols can't express themselves or show their real personality.
I really don't like the fake n rough environment of idols
Every idol should be like jin when it comes to following company rules,he is the rule breaking king ever
Jin has power cause hype can't kick him out but other idols don't
yes, the bar thing for jyp groups is strict, but its right. These type of Bars have a way about them.
Same reason a lot of idols will wear hats on livestreams right before a comeback, they can't show their new look before teaser images come out.
part of the gender splitting regulations are to be appretiated tho
how many senior female idols have already stated from experience that especially female young Trainees/Rookies are total preys in the industry so it's not all that bad having them safe (at least to a certain extent)
The fact you think having a cell phone is a basic human need says everything about this generation
No eye contact and the extreme diets
ONLY 38 KILOS!? I need a more specific age range, and the individuals heights. As I were 40kg in either middle school or high school (don't remember) But Im quite short
Two toxic rules: strict diet and no dating. Both are toxic, unreasonably silly rules, to remain polite. No wonder some of the most fragiles commit suicide. It’s dangerous for the mental health.
I wonder if these agencies educated fans to make them believe that idols “belong to them”, or if fans are demanding the agencies to “educate “ idols to be perfect
the phone restriction is annoying i can’t see how i can function without a phone but i suppose they do have phones just not personal ones
As an American, I am amazed with the many differences between the KPop Idols and our Stars/Artists
cause they are not artist, almost all of then do what they are told to do no artistic direction coming from them
@@sofypi7493 that’s not strictly true. Many of them are actual artists, and later go on to have much more artistic input. Some are producers. Some are choreographers that have input. There is an overarching ‘brand’ that is created with an idol group though that definitely is very strictly held to for a long time.
@@sofypi7493 like all american celebs create something lmao they re the projects of big hands
True and indians too
The most annoying scenario is weight maintenance it sacks. Momo and Jimin were on diet busy suckling ice-cubes. As if their agencies can do the same thing to their children.
Kimberly to maintain 38kgs!?? These companies are run by evil inhuman people
When it comes to jimin, he did it himself bc of the criticism he was getting.
Momo did it bc of the agency.
Both of the situation are disgusting.
CL of 2NE1 was told that she can not show emotion, no crying and to be strong cause leaders are “strong”🙄
the jyp one makes me wonder if that's the reason jinni got kicked out.. woojin got kicked out and was exposed for going to a bar.. i'm not saying thats why she got kicked out but the possibility isnt zero.
The phone rules. That's make remind me when Baekhyun in Happy Together he said that he is kinda jealous with his junior got their phone during their trainee days.
Early and this is horrible, I feel terrible for them
Stayc is my ult gg and I didn't even know about the phone ban!
If it continues like that the girls will get a burnout soon and not get to enjoy their job truly
this is awful! i feel so bad for these idol
Sungmin from Suju has naturally black hair that he usually dyes it a random shade of blonde or purple
Tip visual idols tend to have very goofy or sassy personalities in private
i feel jaehyun and yunho from ateez have kinda similar cases. jaehyun was cute before his debut and became serous after while yunho had a more serious image and "hip hop" vibe and changed to the church oppa now
About the phones?
There are 3 words i want to say: That's mental blackmail 🤬
Same with the other rules!
Ok "when your eyes meet it becomes a kiss " then when he shakes your hand it's what? 😑😑😑
CAB YOU TALK ABOUT LEE CHAEYOENS FIRST COMEBACK
That could lead to an eternal battle between fast food binging and dieting instead of just eating healthy and having enough energy to exercise.
is there a specific term for companies who assign "roles"/personality types to their idols? i want to dig more into this
Why did jyp make momo eat ice cubes🤬🤬🤬🤬
Not to mention Dahyun said when she was a trainee, the trainees and stuff always got meal coupons for restaurants around the JYP building
stayc already got their phone two years ago so yeah dont worry
YG always will be the best company for the idols for real-
Not allowed to sing korean song ? What will they sing then French ? German? Arabian ? Japanese? Chinese?
BLACKPINK couldn't interact with male trainees when they were trainees, that's why they have an akward relationship with WINNER and iKON mostly, they also don't have any kind of bond with TREASURE... The only exception could be Song Mino, maybe.
BTS has a mysterious member. Only difference is he’s not acting.
You telling me that NMIXX are just now getting phone's they just had their first win LOL!!!! that's funny.
Can someone explain why jyp did not allow employees to go to bars with female servers?
Buti nlng tlga iba fans sa pinas. D palagawa nag bad issue sa artist 😊
Didn't know kimberly chen was jyp trainee
The BTS one is because they were mistreated during 3rd party variety shows. The rule was for their own protection. Remember when Jungkook tried to buy the cast members of Flower Crew food but they rejected it so rudely? (look it up it will make you want to punch Jo Seho in the face) And other times when show hosts have made the boys feel uncomfortable by asking invasive questions...
i don’t think bts’s was “strict” they had to do their own shows because they were treated badly and nearly blacklisted
Why would stays not have a several wins ?😮their songs are bop 😢
This is not really fair idols should express in front of the camera not like robots
I still remember the epic sarcastic fit I got into, watching the 2018 MAMA awards live :
BTS got a presidential welcome on the show, arriving in a black limo and specially prepared red carpet leading them to the big door.
(They STILL kept doubting and disminishing those Billboard and other American awards wins, though... until 2020 happened and they COULDN'T because BTS fame got way too big to ignore, even for the most stubborn delusional person.)
HYBE refusing to work with some broadcast stations and imposing them their methods as much as they can is just them ensuring nobody can mess with their artists and staffs' images, work, performances and well-being anymore - like they did with BTS.
