No private nor govt. entity that I know has invested in ground-penetrating devices to detect these problems. At least in my town they’re responsible for maintenance (vs homeowner) for ‘shade’ trees along roads, tho routinely fail to trim/maintain.
why didnt the neighbors tell someone it was leaning, they see the tree more than someone coming out randomly to trim it. Very sad situation and they maintained the tree like good homeowners.

Which cause them to rot and eventually topple over. We should trim trees but also have to find a way to live with them, because we surely need them. I see it all the time, we cut trees that don't need to be cut and I see so many dead trees that are never cut.

No one is saying to clear cut the planet but when fires burn like 100x hotter today than 100 years ago it is time to stop blaming over logging and rethink your entire strategy on forests and trees. I hope nothing was done to the roots of the tree to cause the tree to die trying to get rid of it in the past. Some people do that when they want to get rid of a large tree. Well the tree removed itself from the equation. Probably just had enough and needed a softer landing! Its like living in a community with lots of palm trees. Nice to look at except during windy days and The Whole street is filled with palm leaves that need to be dragged to the side.

I've cut down larger trees than that. No way it was 500 years old....maybe 150-175. Still older than the neighborhood.

We had our trees cut down, now I feed wild animals for life.
