Thank you so much Michelle. 😉❤️🌹💯 We grew up right down the street on 35th and Connecticut and then we moved to 35th and Delaware right on the corner where the stop sign is at there used to be a big building there that was a store then they closed it and we had it for our house for almost 15 years
It sounds like Gary's got a good Mayor now who will get a lot done for the city. That's so great to know! I also want to know what that building is too. It looks like it was a really nice structure at one time. It also seems though like it's out there all by itself in the middle of a regular neighborhood. It reminds me of the neighborhood candy stores that were all over Chicago at one time. Only the kids in each neighborhood knew where to find those hidden gems. This building must have come apart like that on its own. If it was being knocked down by the city, I think it would have been taken down all at once and not left this way. I'm so glad that there is someone like you out there recording these places and preserving history for future generations. One of these days you're going to have a ton of comments from the new generations to come just to say thank you!
I sure hope that this Mayor can get way more done than the other ones did it does seem like he does care. We used to have candy stores and places like that all over town. I can remember neighborhood houses with candy stores on their front porches right next to the bus stops. We would buy candy for nickel and sell it for a dime at school it was my first hustle. I love how you see things. You can see all the hidden gems in this now rubble which needs to be demolished and gone and in the end I think all we have is our memories and that’s what I hold on most dearest too. Looked it up on street view just now. It was one of those 3 story apartment buildings. Maybe more like townhomes? Not sure what the original purpose of many of those buildings were
