  • Some men are gearheads. Some are railroad nerds. I’m a canal freak.
    Most of the Region’s canals post-date the initial building wave of “artificial rivers” in the middle 19th century. But down in Blue Island is a reminder of that era and a connection to the Illinois & Michigan Canal.

    This was a cool mini adventure! The canal systems of the midwest are actually really interesting. These would have been the super highways of their day! I've always wanted to go to Blue Island to check and see if they really do have the former Liverpool courthouse, supposedly it was turned into a tavern lol.

      Yea I wanted to go film the old courthouse, and even recorded a short bit but the heat started knocking me out. Dash thermometer said 100 degrees!

    The remains of the cal Feeder is known locally as "The Pipe" if you want you can trace the route of the old feeder canal. Wanna take a tpour? Let's meet up some day!
