    Tearing down the iPhone 8 is oddly familiar... With the same basic construction as the iPhone 7, its a relief to not have to use a heat gun to repair components inside the iPhone. The screen of the new Apple iPhone 8 will come away from the device with a screw driver, a suction cup, and a thin metal pry tool.
    The battery inside the Iphone 8 has a bit different construction. It is held in place by four different pull tabs. One on each corner. I like this because if you mess up on one pull tab, its not as big of a deal.

      Medo Gabr did you know that most of 20 dollars earphones are better than the wireless earpods that iPhone sells for 150 dollars. A question. Not having a cord is worth 130 dollars more?

    • @jonahpettrichmedia
      @jonahpettrichmedia 7 років тому +65

      Medo Gabr that's simply not true. It's not okay to remove an important and simple feature of a phone that high priced. There are still really much people out there that own an "old" headset. I don't, but still: the jack is useful if you gotta play music over non-bluetooth-speakers or such things, you can imagine (or don't you?). But it's always the same thing: apple-fanboys keep ignoring the truth.

    • @serginaru
      @serginaru 7 років тому

      Hydro_Gaming laziness is the new apple logo, if you don't see the effects it will have on the current generation (defending the route apple is taking and the uses of theirs patents) then you are just naive. Of course I know the priority of profit, I just can't stand the way apple and the lack of something new or innovation brainwashes people into believing they are getting the latest and greatest.

    Jerry I have a video idea for you. A lot of people say that one of the shortcomings of the lg v30 is it's front-facing camera. I watched your teardown video and saw that the front camera module is the same shape of other front cameras on other phones like the galaxy s8 or lg g4. Would it be possible to theoretically buy a gs8 front camera module and place it in the lg v30. Could you possibly test this out and see how the phone would react to different hardware?

    • @nirkopp1881
      @nirkopp1881 7 років тому

      jameljami11 great idea

    • @JerryRigEverything
      @JerryRigEverything  7 років тому +40

      +jameljami11 the software wouldn't match the hardware. Plus the physical connections are different

    • @jameljami11
      @jameljami11 7 років тому +1

      Would it be the same story with using an lg g4 front camera and what about using a camera app from the app store. Would it care if a different front camera was plugged in.

    • @BlackSun717
      @BlackSun717 7 років тому +6

      The problem with this is that the phone is not made to have different parts like a PC, so if you somehow can swap a camera or whatever with a different phone it will most likely not work because of the drivers/controllers.

    • @jameljami11
      @jameljami11 7 років тому +1

      That's why i'd like someone with the resources to do so to test it out. Because there is that uncertainty. It may not work with the gs8 front camera but now im wondering if the LG G4 front camera would work instead. I'm just curious.

    This tutorial is just excellent. I did it thanks to you help. One thing I was unaware of at disassembly is that the screws on the same bracket can have different lengths, so they must go in the exact same hole position they came out of. I managed somehow ;) also in my case the replacement battery came with magic strips of the exact shape, but I recognized too late that there is a good and a bad direction to put them. If it starts rattling tomorrow I’ll know why :) Thank you very much for your effort, I appreciate!

      Pawel Wroniecki I remember they reduced the capacity when they went from iphone 6 to 6S and they did the same from 7 to 8. Let me google it real quick

    • @MiguelY22
      @MiguelY22 7 років тому +32

      For anyone that cares, these are the numbers for the battery capacities. Smaller phones only, not the plus
      iPhone 6 1810mah
      iPhone 6S 1715mah
      iPhone 7 1960mah
      iPhone 8 1821mah
      (I know the mah isnt the only factor that affects how long the battery lasts, just comparing numbers)

      i have a 3100mah in my honor 7. 3000mah+ is todays standard tech in a phone. if it doesnt have atleast 3000mah then it wont last charged long enough when devices need more power usage these days, for instance 1080p screen doesnt use as much power as a 1440p screen on galaxy.

      You probably figured this out already, but there's a slight difference between Y000 "Tri-wing" and Y000 "Tri-point" screwdrivers. You want to go with the "tri-point" drivers for this job. I bought one from ifixit and it's been a great tool thus far!

    If you check out iFixit's video for the iPhone 8 teardown, they don't tell you that there are sections with different screws. So Zack truly does a good job. He is very keen.

    Re returning the many size screws into the phone in the original location.
    Before opening the phone I search online for some images of the phone circuit boards, then print them. (bigger the better)
    I then use a pen to mark the location of each screw on the image. Next I place a strip of double sided tape on the print out sheet for each screw, or series of screws. Now as I remove a screw I place it on the image next to its location. If I find I have a few screws from the same area, so space is tight I draw a line from the screw on the double sided tape to its correct location.
    Double sided tape is good as it holds them in place yet is easy to pick up each screw by using tweezers.
