KDP Category Updates and How to Select Book Categories in Amazon KDP

- Amazon KDP changed their process and policies on selecting categories for your books a few months ago.
The old way:
-You could select 2 categories when you upload an eBook or print book
-You could request up to 10 categories via Author Central
The new way:
-You could select 3 categories when you upload an eBook or print book
-That's it. You only get 3

What categories will i upload cookbook
Nice one, so does that mean we can go in and edit the keywords and categories? Or is it a "once it's done it's permanent" once it's published? Im so confused with it all, I'm self publishing for the first time and I honestly have so much anxiety!
You've got this!!! Yes, you can adjust both categories and keywords as needed. The standard recommendation is every 90 days but I try to do it once a year. Usually my categories don't change that much but sometimes Amazon adds new ones.
I appreciate the update. Just wondering, if I publish with Draft-2-Digital, they say Amazon is one of the platforms they post an author's work on. So if they publish my book on Amazon's website, would I STILL be able sign up for 'Kindle Unlimited'? Or is that separate from Amazon?
Kindle unlimited is only for ebooks and those ebooks must only be sold on Amazon.com so no Draft2Digital most certainly would not get you into KU. If you want to have your eBook in KU only list it via Amazon KDP. You can still list the print book with D2d

I noticed it was a little glitchy when I did my latest updates. Trying saving and exiting and then go back in
M.K. thank you for your video presentation. My 12 eBooks are not represented in the 3 categories. I am a master's level rehabilitation counselor. My eBooks focus on empowering and enhancing the lives of individuals living with the impact of brain injuries. The only category representative of what speak about is Self-help, but not really? What can I do about this to get a more representative of the information that I write about MK? Thank you for your help. Have a super day. Craig
I'm not sure what you can do but I do know that you still have autonomy over your keyword selection and book description to help the right readers find your book.

The children’s picture book I am ready to publish is actually based on a true story. Weird question but do I pick Juvenile “non-fiction”? It is mostly all true but as a picture book with anime type characters, would that be appropriate? Or should I just choose fiction? Thanks again for all your help in these videos!!!
In this case, I believe you can use both. I worked with another children's book author and they did an ABCs of personal finance for kids. So it was non-fiction - as in informational, but all the scenes were made up characters to illustrate the word - so fictional.

I believe so, you should be able to check when you set up your account
