Hello from Perth! Started diving more into esoteric after having my child, as bad as it sounds it was fear and uncertainty that made me want to find ways to protect my child. I had a similar experience, but the card that kept turning up was the Hierophant. I've still blundered around, in confusion about where to put my focus, though. At the moment I'm becalmed in a stagnant swamp, awaiting sign posts on how to escape it.
I could totally relate. However, in my case I keep seeing repetitive numbers and having lucid dreams/astral projection - it can be exhausting, but I've decided to accept it.
Did you ever have out of body experiences as a child? When I was in my teens a memory from when I was around 6-7 years old came into my mind, of me laying face up on my parent´s bed and playing this sort of "game" where I would lay perfectly still, but at the same time try to move a limb, finding the exact middle space between my brain sending signals to my body to move, and me remaining still. This would send tingly sensations up my body and in the memory that I have of this, I remember suddenly coming into the realization that my nose was against the ceiling. I had a few OOB experiences as a teen too using this same method, but I attributed all of them to lucid dreaming. Sadly, this is the last "paranormal" thing to happen to me ever since. Although I admit that I have not retried to induce these states again. I do not know why I used to do this as little boy, there was obviously nowhere I could have gotten this from. Someone has suggested to me that this might mean that I was a kind of alchemist in the past, but I have not had any synchronicities in my life to your sort of level.
Hey there A difficulty I find while studying is influence/inspiration from Crowley. If I may ask. How did you feel okay with some of his material. The little I've read of him is quite spooky. Especially the mentions of child sacrifice and blood. I mean even if it's code for something else, I can't reconcile in my heart with the possibility that it's actually literal. I hope that makes sense. Just in my gut with Crowley it feels a bit dangerous. Could you expand a little on anything to keep in mind whilst looking at Crowleys work?
Crowley is very useful to read as someone who transmits/explains spiritual teachings from earlier traditions. His knowledge of the occult and ability to master and synthesise different systems was impressive. If you don't like the underlying philosophy of Crowley, a good rule of thumb is to go back to his source materials (Golden Dawn, yoga etc). You can read Crowley's take on things but take his opinions with a pinch of salt. Just know he had his own way of doing things and would insert his own little innovations into materials, which will often take you in a blacker direction than perhaps you were hoping for. For example, adding invocations to Satan to the Headless Rite to produce Liber Samekh, and utterly perverting the teachings on the Great Arcanum. In summary, Crowley's stuff is mostly good but needs to be constantly fact-checked against earlier tradition
Im 45 now but have studied these subjects on and off since i was roughly 14. I had a book when i was young, cant remember the name of it but the 2nd half of the book focused on the meditation part leading to building a Astral temple. For the last 30 years i go to my atral temple every now and again. I now wish to dedicate daily practices to furthering my temple and do some rituals there. Do you have any suggestions on a book that would guide me. Ive always felt a calling in me to pursue this and become connected with my higher self. Similar to the meeting with HGA. I was allowed 2 brief moments with my higher self at the conclusion of my solar, then cosmic initiates ceremony. I was shown the energetic red pyramid or temple I was given on Sirius. Was given opportunity to create my own firmament also. It's a complex, mysterious, and at times ultimately beautiful world. I also watched one of my lower selves die, as it was necessary due to this self moving forward far enough to necessitate the happening. The robed one who takes life is always at my ceremonies. Thanks for your story, I've had similar feelings and experiences growing up, but in very different context and with older generations guiding me. Today, I've taken a different path than the previous generations and I call myself Eastern Orthodox Christian. So I obviously have some contradicting beliefs to you, reincarnation being perhaps the obvious one. But that being said, I find your thoughts interesting. But here's my question; have you seen the movie Nefarious (2023)? Here the demons reveals how they "groomed" the psychologist since his childhood. What are your thoughts on this? How can you be sure you're not lead astray? From your story it's clear that you didn't grow up in a Catholic home, but were surrounded by a mishmash spirituality and found your answers within a New Agey worldwiew... while I grew up in protestantic/atheistic circumstances.
