With the map open, click the right stick to orient the map with the north to the top of the screen. For me that helps a lot when finding my way.

You can also sometimes find Chest Gimmighoul in ruins.
If you can get I-bui, if it has any neutral Nature, evolve it into either E-fi or Burakki-, and its Synchro Ability will have each Pokémon you get match the leading Pokémon's Nature. You can be able to up your Pokémon's stats properly.

My goal in the games is to complete the pokedex. So I like to save all the trainers for quick leveling. Def my fave new feature, that you're not forced into battle.
I found a lvl 4 Gimmighoul in the starting area. Im leveling him up now.

I need some quick advice if someone can please reply.
For some reason I’m unable to press pause. It worked normally at first, then it just stopped… I assumed it was just because I was being pursued by wild pokémon but I’m now outside the cave after feeding the legendary and still can’t press pause. Because of that, I can’t swap my team around or heal them outside of battle.
Is this a bug, or am I missing something?
You have to finish that entire sequence to gain menu access again
My favorite tip was lookout for the three colors of PokeBalls scattered across the map that contains items, tms, & PokeBalls.

Oh my god, I needed someone to tell me that there are rewards for completing the pokedex! There must be so many for me to grab now.
I also absolutely went east first and only turned around to go west waaaaay later.... doing the early challenges with pokemon around lvl 40 is.... well weird. Not really a challenge. Next time I'd actually go around the proper way.... D:

One more tip I can share that I've been using ever since the future came out Surprise trade I love it I have successfully obtained all the starters by shoving off all the pokémon I caught early and I got them all before I even left the first pokémon center. I have done this in every version that has had surprise trade as soon as I could because it's how I have successfully obtained the starters in every game that's had it(Now you don't have to do this cuz it is time-consuming it took me three hours of just sitting there spamming trade at the pokémon center, But it felt so worth it)

Been playing Scarlet since the 10th and no catching is not like Arceus. You can see pokemon in the wild and there are no random encounters.
You can get back strike and get free first round but that's it

no you do not need the other game, you do however need someone who has the other game or trading servers, cause then you can just trade exclusives and trade back legendaries with a friend

How did you get the game early?
Nintendo will send copies out to content creators (often for free) or Content Creators will use the Australian Eshop to get it early

I'm over here used to yellow, red, crystal on GB/ GBA and Ruby version. But already like 3 hours in tonight and absolutely love it. However I noticed in Pokemon sword and shield. The creativity isn't there anymore. But as much as I don't like majority of the "New Pokemon" in Scarlet/ Violet. I'll still catch and release all that are trash. Like Avalugg, or that rock one. We're Not talking about onyx or Regirock either. It's literally a boulder with legs. Lmao. I still love the new style. Definitely different and holding my interest.
i've got a living dex going on in all my games played, and this is no different lol. pokemon i know that have 2-3 evolutions, i'll catch three and evolve two. it not only adds more experience to my team but almost gives me more items to craft TM with.

It's out in some parts of the world. Australia, New Zealand, and Japan. Some people will create an account and purchase it from the Australian e-shop so they can play a day early.

Printing out the map sounds very barbaric. That did make me think to take a screenshot of the map and then upload it onto my IPad, so I can make markings with my Pencil and erase ones that are no longer relevant, etc. I was actually hoping the map was bigger, I’m surprised how small it seems, but that opens it up for DLC

Tip: if you want the grass or water starter maybe get scarlet for the fire legendary. Otherwise if you get the fire Pokémon you will have some overlap.
If you get violet it won’t matter as much which you get bc your legendary is electric dragon.
Unfortunately I messed up and accidentally chose the grass cat on violet when I meant to do it on the other game. Oh well will just get a different fire Pokémon but later when I also buy scarlet I will run into the 2 fire problem now bc I don’t want the duck.

Thats not true, there is a gimmeghoul in a chest you can catch near the ruins in the desert (thats on the surface of the paldea region)
There’s also one at the top of the tower in area 1 as soon as you start the game

The best starting tips would be to find a way that you can play this not on the Nintendo switch because my God are they both terrible on the switch if there's a way that you can play these on the steam deck do yourself a favor and play them on that so that you don't get disappointed and feel like you wasted your money
its perfectly playable and not a waste a money now i will not defend and say it isnt choppy and iffy , gamefreak needs to fix this shit for sure, but ive been playing it nonstop catching everything having a blast its a good game, just a shame that performance issues hurt it

I literally fight every single trainer I see because it’s just fun. Every single Pokémon game I’ve always done it. Not only is it a fun way to level up, but you also get prize money too.
