You're a real trooper to carry on with these reviews even when you're sick. take care of yourself.
Thanks - can't go out as still positive, so sat at home and bored so... figured I'd do the midweek review a bit early!
I love that it sounds like an old rough blues belter. that's why I'm getting one.
Great review Baz. These small guitar reviews have inspired me to get back into the guitar so thanks for that.
They're a bit higher up the budget scale but I'd be really interested to hear your thoughts on the Taylor GS Mini.....
I used to own one but sold it - personally it never clicked with me!
I don't really play guitar, I came just to see and hear you, Baz. I'm really liking these smaller guitar reviews ✌🏼
Glad you like them!
Love the ukulele of course, but can't help but be interested in these guitar reviews as well. Hope you continue to grow healthier, and feel better day by day. 😊
Thanks, will do!
Hi, Baz. I have the Cordoba Mini SM, the original version with "A" strings. I love it. They have the Mini II out and it's strung in "E". You can get "E" strings for the original, too. Great Bridge guitar from Uke to Guitar and it travels very well. Very Small, but a lot of fun. Check them out when you have the time. Feel better soon!
Watch this space - think I have one coming!
I have a Peavey composer acoustic electric guitar the same size as the fender Sonora and love it.
It's alright. Looking forward to you getting your hands on a Peavey Cpmppse parlor scale.
I actually like this one. Not the biggest fan of Fender acoustic stuff, but they have a couple of models that are pretty decent. This is one I’d actually consider getting.
Yeah, wasn't too bad
Guitars aren't really my cup of tea, but it's a joy to watch reviews anyway, and it seems to be a nice guitar. This was a good review, as always. Hope you get well soon! Take care ❤
Cool, thanks!
Hope you feel better soon. Nice instrument by the way.
Thanks Richard - and yes - nice to review a Fender and not be too negative - I may roll this one out to the trolls who say I am deliberately harsh on Fender ukes for some sort of 'agenda'..
Barry reviews are reviews what ever brand you review they all have good and bad points. Some people don't see it like that. Keep up your excellent work
Great review, Baz! I just picked up a Fender Joe Strummer Campfire parlor guitar and I rather like it! Of course, it is a lot more expensive at $499 USD, but it does have a solid spruce top and a good quality gig bag and it does have a much better sound.
Nice
I wanted one of those too but the satin finish threw me off because of all the fingerprints and grease smudges it leaves. But I do like that it's solid top and has break angle at the headstock. The other california lines from fender are straight forward like an electric guitar which I think loses a lot of volume and fine tunning imo. How's it on fret or string buzz? Is it really worth the 500$?
Thanks!
No problem!
Hi Baz any chance of reviewing the Washburn Rover?
Great content again 👏
I'll check it out Bob
Thanks Baz, great review. Liked this Fender. I purchased a Fender Parlour guitar for my son, Which is really nice size and again for the money, is super. My son preferred it due to it being gloss and liked the headstock being traditional. Agree that Fender seem to have a great range at a reasonable starter price. Their freebie get started app isn’t bad either, but didn’t use it after the freeness wore off. They also hold their money pretty well. Have a great week
Thanks!
Glad you're a bit better. No need to push yourself on our account!
Thank you!
I bumped into a Fender paramount the other day, like you do. Well impressed. None of that strat headstock nonsense either.
I have a friend who plays one and loves it.
@@GotAUkulele they really look the dogs ! Nice hard case too.
Which one is better? Jim Dandy or Sonoran Mini, in terms of sound and construction? Thanks for the video!!!!!!
I much prefer the Jim Dandy - but that is just me.
I have a mahogany top version that sounded kinda crumby until I switched out for bone saddle and nut (I carved the saddle myself and the nut bought from sweetwater which was a electric guitar nut) now it sounds much more pleasant to the ear. Plus I tried out ebony wood bridge pins which seem to dampen the sustainability and volume. So I recommend upgrading these guitars to get a descent instrument for 200$ I wanna get some bone bridge pins and see what significance it creates
Interesting!
Good review the sound of the fender is great, it's tone is good
Yes, I enjoyed that element!
Nato wood🧐? I haven’t had a nato wood neck since trying the ‘El cheapo’ Monterey soprano Uke 😏. It looks and sounds nice enough but still on the large side for my preference. 😛 when you struck that first chord with a pause I thought you were going to play ‘Lightning Crashes’ by Live.
Could you hold it next to the Yamaha apxt2. What's bigger?
Afraid not - since sold the Fender. From memory the Yamaha is a bit smaller
Interesting option!
I think so too!
I really like this guitar. It looks great and has a pretty good sound. I had a nice Yamaha years ago and it reminds me a little but that would be about a $450 to $550 today. This one has a real good price for today’s market. Thanks for another interesting review… DOC
Not bad at all considering the price - great entry to guitars for a new player I'd say
@@GotAUkulele Absolutely agree. I see you still have the cough. My cough is gone but it left me with a sinus infection so now I am on antibiotics… get better my friend
@@drpkmurphy Yep - cough and VERY blocked up sinuses with sore throat. Getting there I think..
@GotAUkulele Hey Baz, as part of your "Not A Ukulele" small body guitar series, would you consider reviewing the Martin LX1 Little Martin? I'm really curious to hear your thoughts on their HPL back and sides and just in general with how you feel it compares to the others you've looked at so far. Thanks!
Bit expensive for blog funds i'm afraid!
@@GotAUkulele Ahh ok fair enough. Here in Canada it retails for $519 CAD whereas the PRS SE P20 retails for $599 CAD, but I appreciate that those prices can vary pretty dramatically on either side of the pond.
@@MD-ws1dg Ah yes - but the PRS was bought out of my own pocket for myself. I use donations to get instruments for review (which are then sold on to get more or get given to charity) - and I need to spread those funds across the ukuleles as well.
@@GotAUkulele Gotcha, that makes sense. No problem at all, thanks so much for the quick reply. I really appreciate all of your videos and reviews. Keep up the great work!
@@MD-ws1dg Couple more small guitar reviews coming soon!
Love the 14 fret, not crazy about the tone. Prefer my Jim Dandy(s) and Yamaha(s) . . .
Agreed!
Well...not over impressed but, for the money not bad. Jim Dandy had more character and the Yamaha, as usual, had the best tone of all. Fender has stepped up their acoustic game as of late, which for the consumer is a benefit. It just was very boxy sounding and toy like. Feel better...hang in there!
Agreed!
I share your dislike on stratocaster headstock: great on stratocaster, not so great on other instruments
I prefer the others I've been reviewing!....arhh wait!!!!....the little thing is beautiful.
It's nice looker, but not as good a core guitar as some others
Thank you,get better soon m8.
Thank you - feeling better now and testing negative!
Nothing wrong with plenty of boom and twang, for not plenty of money. This model looks big for a travel or parlour gitbox--scale on a typical, full-sized classical guitar is only about 25".
I should have done a side by side with a Dreadnought - it's honestly very small - not as small as the Yamaha i looked at but about same size as the Jim Dandy
Actually the Stratocaster Headstock makes it look more like a Stauffer
It's identical to a Strat head. The Stauffer is MUCH more exaggerated.
A beer and a shot'll clear that cough mate 🍺🥃
They do it because they stay in tune better that way.
Which would suggest that some of the worlds greatest guitars that use three a side don’t stay in tune as well - which is patently incorrect
I think the headstock looks great on the acoustic it especially looks great when a punk band goes acoustic.
Just an opinion, but there is no depth, or mid etc. A Yamaha CFS-1m would be much better to review.
I agree - but not sure of the point of a review that is only of 'better things' - I review the good, the bad and the ugly
Tune it next time lol
sounds horrible
Tone is baaad
Wouldn't go that far, but quite one dimensional.
