I've had this guitar for 9 years now and it still plays as beautiful and holds up so well.
I do like these acoustics, very nice necks on them
I like the Strat style neck on an acoustic. Very cool!
It definitely looks the part
@@theguitarmanifesto Is the neck thin as an Electric?
@@DavideRuggerini not far off 🎸👌
Great vid. Good to hear a nice review for this guitar. I've had one for a few years and I love it. The Strat style neck makes it so playable. Sonoran is a unique acoustic guitar - and for the money, they are punching, for sure!
Beautiful. This headstock! Thank you, Rob!
It's a beauty dude 😎🎸🇬🇧
I have been playing this exact guitar since 2010ish. still have my red one, added a black one a few years ago and just ordered the Redono today.
I think sonorans are pretty good for the money. And the matching headstock on the surf green is increadibly beautiful. Wish every acoustic has a 6 headstock instead of 3+3.
Definitely one of the better acoustics Ive played in the price range, yes agree with the 6 in a line
Very nice guitar with great colour, i like very much the neck and the bridge.Perfect
It is really good a acoustic plays nice and looks so cool
Sounds great as usual Rob.
Love those fender jaguar behind you
Enjoyed that. The Sonorans are great guitars. I just bought one and I think they are unique. The price is soo affordable for a lovely, professional guitar.
Glad you like the video, they are awesome guitars and play really nice
I agree, I've had one since 2012-2013, has never failed me since!
One of the best lower priced acoustic guitars I've played
Just got one today from a client . I said thank you very much!
Nice 👌
I have the exact same guitar!! She's a beauty man.
It's a fine guitar dude 😎🎸☑️
I have had this guitar since 2009 but mine is firemist blue and I love it!! And I always get compliments on it's sound and look from people and from other musicians too.
They're awesome guitars great neck 🎸👌
@@theguitarmanifesto yeah greay neck and very playable.
@@brandireed8332 best playing budget acoustic around 👌
@@theguitarmanifesto totally. I would definitely recommend it. I play rhythm at my church once a month. But I want to learn some lead solos to to mix in with rhythm.
@@brandireed8332 always nice to drop in a little guitar solo with a hint of chorus and delay effects 👌😮 if you're plugged in of course
Just got one of these in the exact same colour - second-hand price was pretty good but it seems obvious that the weak link on these is the tuner, which don't work anymore - yes I tried cleaning the switch. Preamp works though.
Not a dealbreaker as the guitar itself is good enough to warrant better electronics than the cheapos it comes with - and will be putting something cheap but still better in shortly.
Also replaced the tuning machines with some slotted vintage ones I had left over from another project.
I like this style headstock on an acoustic style guitar (I know it’s a electro acoustic) and with the matching colour, looks superb 👌😎
I personally find these dreadnaught style just too big :/ but it sounds amazing! Especially for the price, nothing better 👌😎🎸🎸
It's a fine looking guitar and plays really nice too plugged or unplugged
I use one. Great guitar. Mine is the natural wood finish.
Great demo, yeah acoustically it's better, but still great with the fishman pickup.
Thanks dude, yeah either way it does sound awesome 🎸😎🇬🇧
Excelente video, debo admitir que no se lo que dijiste porque no hablo inglés😅. Lo importante es que entendí perfectamente el analisis de sonido gracias a tu manera de tocar. Gracias por este review, tengo interés por esa guitarra.
Music can speak many languages, glad you enjoyed the video.
It is a great guitar and a good price too.
Hope this translates well back into Spanish I used google translate :)
@@theguitarmanifesto Yes, music definitely speaks all kinds of languages and cultures. I have a lot of admiration for that guitar and I am very happy to receive an opinion from someone expert like you. Greetings from Panama and thanks for the advice, I will acquire that guitar very soon. I also use the google translator :) I hope the comment is good.
It translated perfectly :)
Thank you very much I hope you enjoy the Fender Soronan.
Hello Panama :)
:)
I thought it sounded a bit muddy unplugged (could have been the strings ?) but came alive when plugged in, which is normally the reverse of the way I like electro-acoustics. For the money a very nice general purpose guitar with the benefit of a neck just the way I like them - i.e. Fender electric style. Thanks Rob. Food for thought.
It was bright and clear in the room it could be the way my camera picked up the sound. Awesome looking guitar and it feels really nice to play and I don't usually like playing acoustics
I definitely will be using this for music recording
I have a 2008 version with a Fender pre amp. The guitar is muddy. You get what you pay for.
I like these guitars and they come in some beautiful colors. Not a fan of dreadnoughts but I may have to play one before I rule them out.
They do look awesome and plays suprisingly well I don't usually bother with lower priced acoustics as they are usually dreadful to play.
Yes, do play one. The blue one I bought takes you into territory you didnt think was available to you, courtesy of the beautiful neck and body match.
What's the difference between fender sonoran and fender newporter?
Great vid man! Does anyone know how many iterations of these exist? I had an older one as it did not come with the Fishman preamp/tuner. Have they been discontinued? Either way, great video once again, cheers!
I believe 2, one with one without the fishman. Thanks bro 😎🎸
Just got one for my son I hope he likes it.
It's a very cool guitar, has a very easy playing neck
Sir i want to buy this guitar, what's price??
Fuck, you're good at playing guitar, Rob.
Haha avarage dude 😎🎸🇬🇧☑️
What gauge of strings is best for their guitar? I'm still experimenting, please answer
I usually go for 12s on an acoustic
I like acoustic fender with the strat style headstock... they are very sixties and smell of California. But I don't understand the difference between the sonoran and the redondo... the looks very similar. Maybe the redondo is a little bit bigger? 🤔
As far as I can see the Redondo is just a cheaper version of the old Sonoran, with cheaper woods, being sold at the same price.
i got one of these as a gift from a friend, so used, but appeared to be in great shape......and i just had nothing but problems with it....first and foremost, the action seemed to be really high, which really made playing a lot more work on my hands, and at that time i was a late beginniner/intermediate. but besides that, the neck got warped right away, despite being in a pretty temperature controlled environment. and then the pickup ended up not working after a couple months, im not trying to complain, as much as i'm just curious if anyone had these sorts of problems with theirs, or if maybe it was in worse shape when i got it than i realized? and finally.....lastly.....does anyone have any idea the ballpark of money it might cost to get these things fixed? thank you in advance.
Have you fixed the action?
Hello, I'm thinking about buying this guitar but I also like the yamaha apx700. Any advice?
Having had both I would go with the Fender far better neck and plays so much better
Rafael, good two to choose. I remember when the APX first came on the scene. Nobody had heard anything like it. It was always my ambition to own one. I don`t know what the modern standadrd of them is but it was great. However, for a truly unique investment you wont beat the Sonoran. It`s just got something the others just can`t touch ( under about $5,000 ) but actuall they won`t anyway because, in my opinion the Sonoran is just it`s own man.
Hello sir.. Im from malaysia... I just want to ask...from your opinion which one better? Fender sonoran or Fender CD 60?
The Sonoran in everyway far better to play
That is a nice looking guitar , gotta love the head-stock :)...steel or nylon strings , which do you prefer Rob? nice finger picking btw...i love my battered up old classical guitar
I do like both but tend to favour steel, thanks dude :)
classical guitars , what an absolute nightmare they are to re-string
Agreed
Nice demo! Love me some Oasis.
Thanks dude yeah me too 😎🎸🇬🇧
Don't you love you some Foo's? ;(
good review. for future reference, it's suh-NO-run
I am getting it for 600$ is it good? , and can you tell me what the current market price
I really love the look it's so asthetic
Used you can pick them up between £100 - £200 look on ebay
@@theguitarmanifesto oh thanks alot you saved some of my money
No worries at all bro used they go very cheap and show up quite often
ayy i got that guitar, btw its me chernobyl if you remember haha
Yeah dude I remember I said I'll try and get one 😂😎☑️🇬🇧 hope you're well dude?
Rob The Meat Manifesto yeah im good man, what about you?
Yeah I'm all good dude was busy building a new Mancave for a while, got a lot of new videos to follow 😎🎸🇬🇧😮
I like the Malibu series. I really like short scale. Sonoran seemed nice. What did you think of the build quality?
James_ 42_Art for my shovels the longer scale is perfect, actually really impressed with the quality and feel, the neck does have an electric guitar feel to it. Could be holding on to this for a while yet 😎
Rob The Meat Manifesto that sounds really cool. I love the look of the neck on these. One reason I like the Jaguar and mustang is because of the short scale.
James_ 42_Art yeah then are really impressive bro, I will try and get a Malibu to review too
Rob The Meat Manifesto I love the colors they come in.
I see a lake placid blue one not sure if it was the Malibu or soronan look cool with a light blue competition strip on it
It looks like the Redondo.
Whatever by Oasis!
I'm free to do....
Tune👌💯
Come in amazing Colours!!!! ….unless you are left handed
Should have learned to play right handed 👊
@@theguitarmanifesto haha that old classic. I can play upside down but not other way i am everything left. Problem with upside down is the cutaways, volume and jack location etc 🥴🥴. Did manage to get a nice orange jazz bass though instead of always black 😂😂
🤣 My son is left handex I made him learn to play right handed, first reason easier to get guitars, second you're using your better hand on the business end of the guitar makes more sense. It's tough one unfortunately for lefties.
I have seen a few left players play upside down strung for right handed, now that blows my mind 😂 Nice I do love a orange guitar.
@@theguitarmanifesto yeah i tried right but just didnt feel comfortable for me then played a leftie and seemed right for me.
Not keen plugged in
Oh interesting 😎🎸
Seems a bit thin sounding somehow but deeper as an acoustic. Was going to buy one but not now 😔
If I'm honest it would sound a lot fuller using an acoustic amp unfortunately I was using garageband for this video. Maybe worth trying one out at a music shop. Hope this helps Rob
Ok cheers for the reply Rob
No worries dude it is a great sounding guitar
the one thing that sucks is that its made in china ... For me personally that's enough to turn off buying one of these .. As far as I am concerned if a Fender is not made in the USA its not a Fender . That's just how I see it , I know many may disagree .
I just play them I don't make them 😂
Grant, believe me Ive seen enough Friday night American jobs to persuade me otherwise. They got it right on this one no matter where they made it, believe me.
Horrible sound, like an electric...
😂
Sir i want to buy this guitar, what's the price????
Google is your friend
Yes sir but if you're a dealer I want to buy, what you think?
I sold this guitar 2 years ago
