I totally agree💯 however, it seemed they were living in fear. The mother included. So she may have not necessarily chose him over their kids, she simply was in “fear” as mentioned @ 12:08 that alone would have caused her to stay unfortunately. Also it seemed they believed no matter where the moved, he would find them. But the brother absolutely did do them a favor unaliving their terrible father.
Just my opinion, but it sounds like he terrorized his wife and kids to the point they were too afraid to report him to the police. I've experienced situations where the police did nothing when I spoke up about abuse,. Then the abuser flew into a violent rage because i called the police. The fear is paralyzing.
They killed the mother mostly for money. The father I understand. They should be in prison. I agree they had trauma but that's not the way to go about it. Especially that sloppy.
I had to stop watching this. It is so similar to my childhood, physical/sexual/mental abuse by the father, with a mother who knew what was going on and all the time, but stood by doing nothing about it. I'm 65 now, and was able to get my life straightened out. But the pain will always be there.

I will never understand how someone can accept being treated like that for so long, even subject their children to any level of abuse and not once try to p01son him. You're economically tied to him because of how things were at the time, you were petite and could not fight him directly, and we all know the police would have ignored your claims, but you have to be smarter than that for survival. You could've st4bbed him in his sleep, or p01soned his food or ANYTHING. Would that ruin your life? Probably, but is it worth it? Probably. Now some will say "you're blaming the victim, that's wrong". I personally think a victim can become an enabler and partially responsible for any crime if they don't act when they should, and this woman had a couple decades if not more to make a choice and the choice was either avoided every time or she chose to side with him and gaslight her children.
She would have been in prison for murder if she did any of that. But yes, I agree. A victim can definitely be a massive enabler. That's one thing we often overlook.
