      @@MegLog_JAPAN Your friend's message at 12:15 is right, Japan is safe thanks for the great work the police do, those accusing the police always like to use the racism victimization card, and tries to bring to Japan their social problems, also, they probably are trying to live in Japan like they lived before moving to Japan and in a way their body is in Japan, but their mind and mentality is in their home country, from what I saw, one of the "victims" is American, so he probably wants a BLM mouvement in Japan

      It's true. Almost all of the touts that are scamming people are from other countries, and the majority of them are African or Middle Eastern. If a person is not breaking the law and has nothing to hide then they shouldn't be bothered by simply being asked to show their identification. Even if Japanese police asked me every day, I would be fine with it. I know a lot of American tourists cause problems in Japan, being rude or destructive, and acting like jerks, so it makes sense to me that the police would be on alert for non-Japanese people who seem suspicious.
      Also, I think it's pretty funny that guys getting (potentially underaged) hookers off the streets would get their wallets stolen. They are getting exactly what they deserve! However, it's a bad sign for a country when more women turn to prostitution. It usually means that they have few other options to earn a good living.

      I hope that the Japanese police will treat white people exactly the same as Africans and South Asian people. So yes sir, you definitely deserve to be treated like an African person, because the Japanese people and society treat everyone fairly.

    Thank you Meg for your videos, they are very helpful. I have been using them to prepare for my trip in October/November. Could you help me decide which would be better to get to my hotel in Shibuya (Tokyu Rei) from Narita Airport with my suitcase. Narita Express or Limousine Bus? Which would get me the closest to the hotel. Thank you.

    I am glad your friend understands the importance of police questioning people remains the safety of the country. Japan people are very welcoming. They only do this for the safety not discrimination. Look what nyc and other parts of the world's safely become when ppl don't allow police do what they do. You can also look at how professional the japanese police are and you know you can trust them.

    Lots of touts in Tokyo are Nigerians...how do they get into the country?

    • @MegLog_JAPAN
      @MegLog_JAPAN  4 місяці тому +5

      That is a very good question. Not all of them, of course, but I believe that in some cases, people get into the country temporarily using a tourist visa and then extend their stay illegally.

    • @justchill4885
      @justchill4885 4 місяці тому

      To add what @MegLog_JAPAN said, the Nigerians also marry Japanese women while they are there on temporary visa, in order to stay.
      I spoke with one and that's what he said. Either that or they'll stay illegally, if they get caught, they're deported and they just come back under Asylum.
      There's even a video about it titled; "Living in Japan is not by Force.Overstay visa,Nigeria in Japan,Black in Japan."
      on the channel: "obisantvlog"
      At the moment, some of the Yakuza families are using the Nigerians as street touts because their numbers are dwindling.

      Whenever I go to Japan, I am entering an earthquake country. I don't worry excessively about it. Tokyo is well north of Kyushu sort of like Los Angeles vs San Fransisco. I worry a bit more about typhoons when I go to Okinawa during typhoon season. Arriving or leaving during one is not a good idea. I have been there during two of them. At least typhoons are somewhat predictable.

      @markmoreno7295 4 місяці тому

      @@anandasuriamoorthy6497 I have been many times. While the incidence of an earthquake is far less, they do have typhoons. So during typhoon season you must watch the weather news. Otherwise during summer it is quite hot but that makes a dip in the water nice. I am not a city type so I tend to stay away from Naha. I like the northern area best. However in the far south are caves to visit and a nice fish market in Itoman city. The island of Ishigaki is my favorite which is reachable by boat from the Tomarine. Or you can also fly. I like Yonehara Beach. You may also visit Yoshida Sensei for a wooden boat ride on a traditional Sabani. Not far is Taketomijima famous for its Okinawan limousine ride. Be sure to stop by for a shaved ice treat. Back on the main island of Okinawa known as Honto, there are many resorts along the eastern side. Each is different. I like Manza for their jelly fish nets but I stay at a cheaper place and just pay the day use pass. I also stop at tourist places like Okashi Goten for their unique treats and the coffee shop upstairs has a nice view of the water. Watch you tube videos for ideas. I stay there for a month so I am never in a big rush. It helps if you speak Japanese but with the bases nearby, locals know a few words. Okinawan language is also spoken in a few places but Japanese is the lingua franca. Overall I like Okinawa better than Hawaii, but it really depends what you are after. It is not the same as Tokyo for sure.

      @@anandasuriamoorthy6497 sorry I said eastern side because I think of China as east, but the big hotels are on the western side, ie the Chinese side of the island. But there are hotels on the eastern side too, I just stay away from the east due to more bases on that side.

    There are a lot of Japanese female teens who run away from home, for many reasons. You see them, if you know where to look. They gather in Kabukicho. Some Japanese Guys get the girls to give them their $$$. I could be wrong, but it seemed like there were a lot more female runaways than males in Tokyo.

    Part of the reason that governments block uber and lyft is because they are basically a race to the bottom industry that serves very little function for the city other than causing congestion. Japan has fairly strict policies for owning a car and letting people run those services would be probably a bad idea. It hasnt worked out well for most cities.

Im saying that uber and lyft are a race to the bottom industry that causes boosts in traffic congestion and drives wages down for its 'contractors'. Theres a reason why uber and lyft payouts have dropped over the last 10 years to the point that its barely worth doing. Cab drivers at least have a salary and proper insurance and maintenance requirements. Both things lyft and uber dont have.
