CORRECTION: Sorry the Castigator AP debuff only works against ranged attacks, NOT melee as I said a couple of times. Sorry think I got confused with the GSC Ridgerunner that has a similar rule! Apologies for the error there.
One of Scott Ketchams games was streamed at that tournament. The jump canoness was alone in deepstrike, the dialogus was solo in strat reserve, and the palatine was with a half squad of novitiates in an immolator
I'm a big fan of having a solo janoness in reserves and using her as an absolutely lethal missile. Give her the Halberd, feed her some MD, and watch her shred the opponents backline unit with those Dev Wounds.
I was very happy when the codex came out. Certainly one of the best we have had. But after a while, I noticed that there is something missing: I wish there was a more melee oriented detachment that wasn't tied up to penitent models. Or that there were more ways to make units penitent. It is a bit of a nickpick, but still. Also I try to play anything but bringers of flame because everyone runs that. Best detachment, but also quite fixed IMO. Faith is not as strong, but I find that I can make other different, stranger lists, and thus I like that.
THANK YOU! Someone else says it. I’d love for something like a 9th edition Bloody Rose style detachment that makes your regular power armored sisters decent threats in melee while boosting up your dedicated non-penitent melee units. Incidentally Army of Faith may end up being the best way to run non-Penitent Sisters melee since it’s got a few melee boosts and survivability tools.
i think there's definitely a good melee list in both hallowed martyrs and army of faith HM gets to fight on death with +1 to hit and wound and has 1CP reroll hits (and wounds if below half strength) AoF gets access to lance and +1 AP with a strat Triumph is a great buff piece for both with the +1 AP aura and has decent melee on her own biggest issue is that 2/3 of the melee units (zeph, repentia) are pretty expensive. sacresants got a big glowup with 3A and sustained or lethal, i think you can credibly add either an offense character (palatine/canoness) or defense (hospitaller), put them next to the triumph for +1 AP, and do OK
I just got owned by a bringers of flame list. Nothing my custodes could do. Guy had 7 cp left in turn 3. He didn't even need to use them. Something broken there. Almost identical to Jerome's list.
Out of curiosity as a new sisters player, what was the list like? Was it a matter of the extra strength and mobility making the sisters hard to catch/ more damaging?
It's the utter attack spam and high mobility plus free Strat of mortal wounds. I almost never had benefit of cover either. Also much more units than I on the ground he was able to zone me out and my deep striking units were useless.
I do agree - played against custodies at my LGS recently just testing BoF detachment. 10 seraphim + 1 jananess was throwing 9d6+9 of potential dev wounds into a Caladius Grav Tank, and it didn’t stand a chance(on deep strike) not even getting to bolt pistols/plasma with sustained. We even played it where the custodies FNP strat was against every wound, not just mortals, and still was prob 5/6 over what was needed. If I had not put them in deep strike, turn 1 looking at 12+1d6 of movement +6 if they get a shot off. I would say generally if sisters are on the table, target the seraphim IMMEDIATELY
@@jamiewarren2307 Custodes are quite reliant on their durability. The combination of Devastating Wounds (bypasses their saving throw), lots of high damage meltas & miracle dice to is highly problematic for them.
WOW no one took saint celestine. I have a expensive list unit that includes her. 10x seraphim hand flamers, jump canoness hand flamer n power weapon (flame and fury) or rightous rage with a blessed halberd or maybe that holy eviscerator. the sustating hits might be worth it. the reality is this can be heavy 10 flame with strats making it more painful. Or combat heavy with many power weapon attack( saint crew 13 + 3 seraphim + 5-11 canoness) 27 in all on first attack. . all while the Saint heals any lost seraphim with her tears. D3 of them a turn or a gemini body guard. 405 points of love.
Paragon warsuit conversion: I just increased size on other cool grey knight legs for the paragon warsuits and printed so they got cooler arms and legs :)
I really want to put together a solid 1000 point sisters list. I have a mountain of Drukhari/Aeldari plastic in front of me. Maybe I'll get to it before 11th edition.
Important corrections: The castigator AP buff is only for ranged attacks so it does not work with arcos. Also retributors get to wound rolls against a unit that has killed a sororitas unit, not hit rolls. They reroll wound rolls of 1 by default.
Morvenn Vahl is utterly bonkers in this Codex. She was already good in the Index, but combining her full re-rolls with the Paragons +1 to hit/wound against vehicles and monsters pushes her to the next level. I played against a Nidzilla list last weekend and literally from Turn 2 when she came on her unit killed one big bug per turn, including a full-health Norn Queen on an objective with 4+ FNP (that took shooting and melee) and an Exocrine Vahl soloed after I fished for Sustained hits with Fidelis and ended up hitting the thing some 14 times. I don't think she's exactly broken, since the unit is expensive and does die with surprising speed, but Holy Throne, she's dangerous.
I'm looking into it as best I can while trying to replicate a 1000 point version of the Hallowed Martyrs list, and I can't for the life of me figure out what the Brazier of Fire that the canoness' have, some clarification would be great.

What an absolute mad lad.
what would a solo dialogus be able to do?

I also am in the army of faith camp, bringers of flame is too vehicle heavy for my taste.
You got one of the best dex releases to date in tenth and still found something to be salty about

the fact that a tank can zoom 19" is fucked xD

The extra AP from Castigators only works on ranged attacks.

It is broken frankly, the whole codex is far too strong
My lists look nothing like these LOL
Same. I have repentia but don't want to play the penitent host. They're basically useless.

Proud of the hallowed martyr list. Proof that the meta isn't everything
They were all over ATC
What are the novitiates? Is that just a battle sister squad?
