TERRIBLE VIDEO!!!. Full of false statements.
Under Upfront algo pricing pay is driving hourly and per mile pay much lower.
Harry, your numbers are becoming more of a pipe dream.
I have not made $20 an hour in almost 6 months, because of algorithmic pay. I'm making $12 to $17 an hour per week. Last year I was making between $25 to $30 an hour every week, until upfront, algo pricing came out.

You’ll make more working at Aldi and your car won’t be in the shop monthly and you can go back to regular auto insurance. Today rideshare is just a cautionary tale. The heady, halcyon days we enjoyed at the get-go of rideshare are sadly gone. Uber Inc. = unprofitable/Driving = unprofitable.

Or doing a trip once a year, specially when Uber offers him lots a money to complete a ride or a few rides.
I think a lot of these videos are becoming propaganda or advertisement for Uber and this whether it was their intentions or not. See “sign up for Uber and let us know.” Like even if someone sign up for Uber and they complete one ride Uber already won…and now imagine this driver staying to complete their honeymoon stage because Uber is offering you more money to complete the many rides they want you to for a specific amount of dollars. Then they will discover that they hate Uber because Uber used them for a period and that they were nothing but a game and gain for Uber.
Uber and Lyft really suck these days, is about 60 to 80 for them and about 40 to 20 for us. When is us drivers putting everything and risking our lives…

Harry is very knowledgeable, but he is completely out of touch with Uber pay in upfront pricing markets where Uber intentionally oversaturated the market. Making it very difficult for drivers to make money. If your market is doing well, you are blessed. Many other markets are struggling to the point that driving Uber is not sustainable. For theblast several months, I have been making between $12 to $17 an hour before expenses for each week.

Upfront Pricing allows Uber to control drivers’ behaviors controlling where they drive, how long they MUST drive, and how much they earn in specified times. Uber would starve drivers at certain times and reward them at others. The algorithm is programmed in such a way that if Uber can control how much a driver earns at specific times, it would control how long a driver stays on the road, how many days he drives in a week, and the numbers and kinds of trips he accepts or rejects.Human control, supervision, and dispatch are replaced by AI and the algorithm which is creepy.

Just for clarity and consistency: A prior Rideshare video with Sergio stated Uber Surges sometimes are fake, and also past videos show that Uber is not paying EV drivers an actual $1 per trip more, or that the fees are consistent. I think there may be other things in their algorithm when it comes to pay, and not just how much the rider is paying or distance - for example, I think that the algorithm is making micro adjustments on the pay based on how many rides you have made (that day, month and overall), your rating, amount of and type of feedback, etc. I cannot prove that but after watching many of the Rideshare videos (and others) it does appear that Uber (and Lyft for that matter) do tweak their pay on other variables besides demand and distance.
What I and others have found is that YOU HAVE TO DRIVE BOTH UBER AND LYFT taking the best rides at the time available, and also balancing which is paying more for a given region market or even time of day, as these do vary. In my market there are way more Uber riders (70% versus 30% on Lyft), but they tend to flip flop on who pays more per ride or per mile. Sometimes I can make 2x-4x more on Lyft and other times the other way around.
I also find that per hour income tends to be greater if you ride the 2-3 hour peak times in your region/city area. When you drive MORE hours my per hour income goes down due to downtime between rides (waiting on next ride, taking a break, etc). and a few times also just driving back to a busy area after taking a trip out of the area where I don't want to stay in that area. So you really have to find the right times and areas to drive in, and avoid taking a drive to an area where you come back empty.
It's almost impossible not to make $20/hour, but you still have expenses.
Don't do drives that pay less than $1/mile or $1/minute.
    Good luck out there.

Filtering out garbage is the key. I noticed that after I refuse a bunch of garbage rides, the algo starts adding a bonus/surge to entice me accepting the next ride. As a result, 80-90% of my rides have additional $2-4 bonuses.
Also, ultra short trips have much higher profit margins, higher per mile and per minute pay, in particular, if you have an additional $2-4 bonus per trip. You get paid $2-3 per mile on ultra short trips.

And you will be so exhausted that you may not be able to repeat that the next week. If you drive 12 hours for 5 days you could gross $1300 to $1500 but $250 will go to gas.

I know what you can do to earn more: quit uberdriving.
Uber has a lot of headaches with recruiting new drivers, (pay satisfaction index is 33%) and no one in the right mind would need to "tell" them what they earn. They know what they earn, and after all expenses, it's way below minimum wage. There's nothing they can do about it.

Dara Khosrowshahi is paid $24 mil a year before bonuses, stock profits and all that extra money from being shady and doing deals that benefit not one driver. That means he makes over $65k everyday whether he’s working (I doubt he knows what full day of real work is) or not. I rarely take time off (can’t afford that with what I make which is less than last year and way less the year before even though I work l way more now). So Dara makes in one day more than I make a year. I would love for him to be a driver and live solely on his earnings while driving HIS car to the ground and shouldering all the expenses. That man came from wealth. He’s so out of touch with this world. Our world. I wish he would just retire and go away. Let someone who knows this business run this business.

    • @polishpimp4233
      @polishpimp4233 10 місяців тому +1

As ridiculous as Dara's salary is his salary is the tip of the iceberg as to why Uber cant turn a profit. Even if Dara works for free uber still is going to lose a lot of money. They simply are not charging enough for the service along with having way too much fat in terms of their own expenses. Their insurance they pay is just beyond ridiculous.
I could go to work that is roughly 5 miles away for 10 dollars each direction. It's at LEAST 20-30 percent below what it should be priced at. The problem is passengers have gotten so used to paying just over a public transit price for going to work or leisurely activities Riding with Miss Daisy style.
Cant teach old dogs new tricks. It's too late to change anything now. It's going to take a new app with a totally different approach to be profitable and to keep driver's happy.
I cant drive for under 1.00 a mile and earn a living after expenses. I still do uber eats and doordash but I cherry pick. Too many desperate thirsty drivers out there tolerating driving their cars into the ground for minimum wage to compete with.
Those simps literally cant do math.

Longer trips used to pay under miles and minutes model not so much under Upfront Pricing model. You will break your back and lose money doing long rides especially if they take you outside busy areas. Only caveat is since the advent of upfront pricing as Sergio & Chris have demonstrated since time and distance is no longer the equation in the markets where this change occurred longer trips are paying less and shorter trips pay a little bit better (although not always). Lastly in the recent months the pay is going steadily down due to an influx of new drivers here in San Francisco.

By the time you pay for all the expenses on your car the where in the tear in the tire in the gas and then eventually you'll have to buy a new car in the long run it's really not that much money just a few dollars more than not having a job at all.Theres a lot of miles you drive empty between costomers acually loosing money.

There are two offshore customer support- india and Philippines- I contacted to them for my issue- they didn’t solve it rather when they find any difficulties ( mostly they are not knowledgeable about uber apps or policy, they read what was written in Uber apps) about the issue, they hanged up my call without saying bye. What nonsense. Even their supervisor in philiphino was rubbish - hanged up my call without notifying me- there was no call dropping issue. Uber is paying them from our money, but we are not getting quality service. Shame on Uber current policy. Lyft is better than uber

I used to drive full-time(40 hours a week, Mostly weekend) in Montreal last year (2023). I had a Hyundai Elantra 2014. Roughly, I made 1,000 CAD Gross, including surge and incentives. My fuel efficiency was great, but the car was a little bit old, and I had to take it to the shop every 4 months. If you do UberX full-time, your net will be 17-19 after expenses and taxes. I also rented a Tesla from Hertz and tried Tesla for Uber Premium. I only had 1 Uber Premium passenger a day, so it's not worth it. My suggestion: don't do Uber full-time. If you have no other choice, try to keep your expenses as low as possible by buying a reliable and fuel-efficient car.

Oh, and I rent a car from Hertz to do it. The first two months I had a Nissan Sentra, but have been using a Tesla for the last 10 months. Rent including Tesla Supercharging is about $550 a week, literally cheaper than the 62 cents a mile it costs to beat up my own car. I write off rent, electricity and car washes.

@@showstoppacs1 - At 40 hours it's usually $1300+, and my quarterly taxes come out to be about $75 a week after all deductions. If I use my own car I can write off 62.5 cents a mile, because that's what it actually costs to operate most vehicles. My own car is actually 48 cents a mile. I generally work 50-60 hours a week and drive an average of 1800 miles per week. In my own car that's .48 x 1800 = $864 per week. That many miles will bump the rental to about $600 a week because of the charging costs. That many miles, including Quests, bump my gross revenue up to between $1800-$2200. At $1800 my cost per mile is 33.3 cents. At $2100 it's 28 cents.
I came from trucking, and whether it's trucking or Uber or DoorDash or Instacart, I'm a small business owner with the mindset of a business owner rather than that of an hourly wage earner. I'm all bout peofit and loss, not about my hourly take-home rate.

now have you ever talk about GAP insurance which is most important part of uber driving۔ have you ever went to other states and speak about their hardship۔ uber can squeeze drivers earnings as much as they can what about stock commission n bank charges۔ uber ceo in quartely earnings have admit that big part of earnings goes in these expenses too۔ you never done vlog on uber n lyft stock trading why they are not jumping high on earnings reports only a day or two they goes up then they start down trend۔ clarrify your self either you are drivers friendly or you are uber back vlogger۔
