Love the content, I am two weeks behind you. Am starting my 16 week block on the 15th for the Milton Keynes marathon in May, first ever. Impressed with the Runna app so far (Y)
Thank you, i try and make the videos as informative as possible so good to hear poeple enjoy them and get somehting out of them. Good luck with your training, just be consistent and make sure you get those miles in. My first marathon was a shock to the system, but i had an injury part way into training and didnt even complete 8 weeks of my plan, so was very underprepared. Im sure if you get your plan done you'll do just fine. Good luck
I’m from the same area as you Matt, hopefully see you out there on a run soon, maybe on a Sunday long run, I’m training for my second ever half marathon which is the end of March! Best of luck with the sub 4 in London 💪
Interesting to see the pace at which you did your initial easy run - pretty much the same as what I would do - I start my training block for the London Landmarks 1/2 marathon next Monday - my target is sub 1:45 having run a rather frustrating 1:45:15 in Amsterdam in the Autumn - also using Runna
Ive basede my marathon plan from the time i ran a half this year which was 1:49:50. So not surprising to see our easy paced times coming up relativelyt similar. Im also aiming for a sub 1:45 at Wilmslow half in march which will be my final prep race for london. My current PB is 1:48:42 so im hoping Runna can guide me to a half PB and a marathon PB in as many months! Good luck with your PB attempt, im sure you'll smash those extra 15 seconds next race. Keep working hard
@@gimoruns Hi - not really a PB but would be an age group best - I’m now 71 and my all-time PB of 1:16:25 is from way back in 1987 (when I was a mere 34!) - I usually run 5 days a week (25-30 miles) but only do 2 of the 3 faster efforts (if I’ve done both the tempo and the rep session then Sunday’s longer run will all be at easy pace albeit with a couple of extra miles thrown in). Over the years I have found consistency is the key to improvement.
@@MartinCharlton-ds7ro wowzers, 1:16:25!!! I can only dream of that kind of time. Sadly i started running pretty late on, in my 40's so i never really realised my potential. I was an ice hockey player through my teens and twenties until a ruptured ACL forced me to retire. Still amazing the knee is standing up to running, but i just ignore it when it plays up haha!! Totally agree on consistency, thats what im trying to bring to my running thid year.
Loving the content, and getting out there despite the weather. Im lucky here in Aus, rainy days are the exception, mind you 40 degree days are not ideal either. Im keen to try Runna, but that seems to be a lot of speed work for the start of a marathon plan, think you are making the right call. Will it adjust your plan later based on what you are doing that is different to what is scheduled?
Thanks you, nice to recieve messages like that. Yeah winter training in the UK isnt the best, its cold, wet, raining, snowing, windy. It takes some determination to be consistent thats for sure. I have family oin Oz, in Tawoomba, and the Gold Coast, so i often get jealous at thw weather they get lol!! Ref the speed work, yes it is quite a lot but ive set myself up on the Advanced program, if you were to choose Intermediate or Beginner, the loading would be less.

Great to hear from a local runner, and yeah that sounds great. Which half are you trianing for?
