Did you know in 2020, the tattoo industry made 50 billion dollars in revenue worldwide and 92% of people in the US with a tattoo have no regrets. Those stats actually surprised me considering the number of terrible art pieces that exist in the world - there’s even an entire tv series about tattoos dedicated to looking at people's bad life choices. Today we’re talking about a company that created a new type of ink that’s supposed to fade in 9-15 months while marketing a new type of temporary tattoo you can get. No regrets is their motto! Turns out the linework of hearts, peace signs, and aesthetic quotes are overstaying their welcome. Tiktok is going wild over this drama - Don’t Get Temporary Tattoos that Fade in a Year #edvasian - Розваги
So... henna exists
Honestly only thing I'm going to do
I guess they wanted the more unique colours?
Yeah but there’s no colour in henna. It’s always just dark brown.
@@OnlyLilynn44 true but most people have one colored tattoos
There’s also ink box which are temporary tattoos that you can just put on at home (it doesn’t use needles) and they last like over a week I think
As a tattoo artist, what concerns me is that no one ever mentions the skin damage and scarring that comes with getting a tattoo. It is typically minor, unless the artist works the skin too hard, but even if these ephemeral tattoo inks fade away, the damage to the skin remains. If the tattoo is applied by a heavy-handed artist, then there could be a permanent scar left behind long after the ink is absorbed/dissolved by the body.
right… bc normally the tattoo stays on top so you don’t see the scarring. but this… i feel like there’d definitely be some stuff left behind, especially for colourful, bigger, etc. tattoos
I'd love to hear what you think about the uv ink......I am waiting to see if there are long term damage to the body from them.....my raccoon brain definitely wants me to get one!!
Thankyou for bringing this to everyone’s attention
I have one tattoo that sent chills down my spine because the artist was a bit too heavy handed (he was a trainee at this point, and the tattoo looks fine so yeah) due to the pain - it was like nothing I had felt with a tattoo before. If I run my hand on the spots that hurt the most I can feel the skin is raised and it's been around 4 years since I got it so it's not due to the healing process. Basically if you'd take away the ink, you'd definitely see some scarring.
I also have microbladed brows, which were supposed to fade in a year or so. I got them touched up the one necessary touch up that's included in the initial microblading price, and another time like a year later. That was also around 4 years ago now, and the brows are here to stay (for context, the tail of my brow is fully microbladed and I shave the real tails off. So they're dark enough to look alright with literally no hair on top of them). I don't really mind because I went in with realistic expectations and with the mindset that they might never fully fade and got a shape I'm still comfortable with today. When I first heard about these "non-permanent" tattoos, it was safe to say I was incredibly sceptical about it.
Damn, I had no idea, I have no tattoos and have considered this so thanks for the disclaimer!
Hi! I'm an actual tattoo artist of 20 years. My colleagues and I are livid about the semiperm tattoo trend. It's a full on scam and I'm sad to see it. They make claims that the ink is "bio" so the body absorbs it/carries off particles to the lymph system etc. ALL tattoo ink has always been "bio", so these scammers feel they can make that claim without fully lying to their clients. This is so harmful and deceitful it makes me sick. Oh yeah, just like any tattoo shop claiming to be vegan is a straight up lie cuz guess what? The paper used for tattoo stencils are made from GELATIN.
If y'all really want a tattoo but want something subtle/fades, ask for FINE lines done with a GREY WASH of 50% or more. If the artist won't do it, find an artist who will. If they have no idea what you are talking about then gtfo because they lack experience or their ego is too big to let the client steer the ship a little. Good luck and happy tattoos everyone ❤
Ah wow. Thanks for the info-
I feel like there has to be some vegan options other than gelatin based paper. Like agar agar??? Or nata de coco????
How long will the tattoos done with fine lines/grey wash of 50% last for?
There is a vegan brand of tattoo stencil sheets as well as tattoo ink
@@idontrlyhaveanamebutihavec9918There is vegan gelatin.
Break-up via tattoo on the person being broken up with is real shitty. Way to leave her with emotional baggage, bruh.
I would have the words I'm Gone! or Hooray! tattooed under the suitcases. Or I Escaped!!
Nice pun
EmOtIoNaL BagGaGe!!!
Also like… very negative self advertising. I can’t imagine seeing him do that to someone and then willingly dating that guy after. I’d be waiting for when he turned around and pulled some more bs
On the one hand, yes 100%. But on the other hand, after seeing some of the tattoos on that show... she got off pretty easy as far as aesthetics go.
Let me share my horror story: I had this. As an EYEBROW tattoo. Crooked too. I had it done as a teenager and it took me years as an adult to afford all the laser treatment it took to remove it. Thank god my eyebrows actually grew back. It was horrible
I did this too!! I was in my early 20s but I’m getting real close to 40 now and they “faded” very unevenly and spotty. I have to fill in the gaps every day till I bite the bullet and get laser
I’m so glad I didn’t get micro blading when it was a trend 😣 I hear so many horror stories about it
So terrible! I have seen many unfortunate eyebrow tattoos, and it's such an awful thing!
I've had eyebrow tattoos for years and I love them 🤷🏻♀️
I get mine microbladed and they fade fast. I have to get it touched up every year to year and half.
I have 3 tattoos with special meanings. As I get older, I think of more ideas but I let them sit at least 6 months. If I still want the tattoo, then it is special. However, I have thought of at least four ideas since my last one, and none of them have stuck. I would say if no one wants a tattoo that they think they rushed into, give it 6 months😂
Great idea!
This. I've wanted a tiny Dragon since I was a teen, over a decade later and I still love George the star dragon
Agreed, all my tattoos were very well thought out. Before getting my first tattoo I waited 8 years to get "the nature of our immortal lives is in the consequences of our words and deeds" on my spine. My arm tattoos were gotten a year after a spiritual awakening that cured my eating disorder, now 3 years on I don't regret it. My bicep tattoo is for my best friend of 8 years. And my back of the neck tattoo symbolizes my partner of 7 years (although it's a symbol not a name so even if we broke up it's still a nice tattoo I wouldn't regret).
idk if that method would work for me bc there's an artist I like that just tattoos big booty women and I've been loving his work for the past 2 years 🥲 like I probably DON'T want one but also....I want one
I also sit on my ideas, usually multiple years. Still can't decide on back or thigh. But I think I'm set on a Lilith calf sleeve
I cannot imagine going through the pain of getting inked only to have it disappear. For me, the permanence is the only thing that makes getting repeatedly stabbed worth it. Just get henna?? Or inkbox or photoshop or literally ANY other alternative??
I got severe contact dermatitis from an ink box, I def don’t recommend
@@draxzor you're probably allergic..... go to a dermatologist...
@@tabora_ I did. I went to a dermatologist and had to be on a cortico-steroid cream for a month. It's a fairly common reaction to the type of ink used in Inkbox tattoos, but it's not talked about much. I had actually used several inkbox tattoos before i finally had an allergic reaction to one.
Pain is a combination of personal susceptibility and place on the body. For me, the pain doesn’t effect me as much and I have been considering getting a white ink tattoo as a science experiment just to see how it ages and fades.
I just bring it up as an example, if you can’t handle too much pain I fully understand your decision to not get a tattoo. ☺️
Edit: I have many much tattoos. Stomach, chest, and knee were the most painful, but I still have space on my stomach that I’m going to get covered. 😅
@@draxzordo they encourage you to patch test it? Do they provide the means to do so? Did you already know you had sensitive skin? Did they warn in the fine print or on their website about potential allergic reactions?
Im on the team of silly, not too serious tattoo. I have more than a dozen of them, permanent. They all have a light hearted meaning, like references to music that I really love, a kid show that I adored with my little sister, video games that made me laugh… and some meaningless to me like a candle or a spiderweb. I love them, they are made by artist that I love. Getting something with a heavy meaning makes you out so much pressure on yourself, and it’s something that brings so much intense feeling that you might just start hating the thing just as much as you loved it before. Whereas more light hearted stuff might just stay light hearted for the rest of your life. Also, there’s no regret in getting tattoos for me, because even if you change they are part of your own history, a little piece of who you were, and they always will be a part of you.
Yeah, as my partner always says when asked what his tattoos mean: "they mean that I like tattoos!" It's a good way to go, just getting cool stuff that you like so you can look at it and feel good 🙂
im on the same boat but I get my tattoos simply because they make me look cool! So most of them dont have any real meaning
are u kurtis conner
Yess, i love ur mindset
you said this so well !! i still like having meaningful tattoos on me, but i’ve got a few fun ones, and sometimes the memory of getting a flash tattoo with a friend is the meaning behind it. people are too uptight about good looking tattoos on others, especially when it’s not even their body! i can’t wait to get even more tats :))
This is why I've always loved temporary tattoos that you stick on with some water. I'm an extremely indecisive person and I know I will regret an actual tattoo eventually even if I really love it because I apparently have commitment issues. People think of tattoo stickers as for kids, but you can find really nice ones.
they were awesome when we were kids too hehe
there is adult ones now too !! :) get your tattoos friend
You can get alcohol ink and make your own on special paper to transfer to your skin. Or just draw it directly on your skin.
Quick comment about eyeliner tattoos and my only experience adjacent to the subject. My mom has a severe allergy to severel chemicals found in makeups and getting eyeliner tattooed on really helped her with her confidence after she was unable to wear any makeup after her allergies got worse.
There are hypoallergene Make Up brands.
@@CordeliaWagner I also have allergies to some eyeliners, and the hypoallergenic ones are worse in my case, I don't know why, but only the most simplest eyeliners work on me
Never considered that she doesnt have to wesr this shit.. the pressure to wear make up on women
@@tarantulasareterfs well it seems like she wore makeup before her allergies got worse and it was something that gave her confidence and made her happy, so why take it away from her now?
@@puddypudding9609 you cant tell me that covering your face up all day everyday is something that you rationally choose, not pressured into. Will you really tell me that women dont get pressured into this? Women should be able to be confident without a mask on. She doesnt even see her eyeliner, she doesnt like how it looks on her, she likes how OTHERS treat her with make up on
I have honestly yet to see eyeliner tattoo that gives what it’s supposed to. They never seem to do a flattering shape for the client and even at its darkest, it looks like $1 pencil eyeliner (which is great for smudging😍 but not precise liner). I just think for the amount it costs, it should really accentuate the eye and make your iris pop. The shape should really do something nice for the client yk?
I tattooed liner to give a natural look. No one really knows but me. It augments my eye. Color and ink have changed over the years. I can swim and gym and no makeup on but my features look nicer. Very subtle
My older colleague has tattooed eyeliner and it looks really great.
You don't notice the ones that are done well.
Agreed. Especially as it fades it looks so patchy and washed out. It never looks like fresh makeup eyeliner
I’d get tattoo makeup if I wasn’t pretty sure that I’m allergic. Simply because I’m allergic to most eye makeup and my lips are slightly mismatched horizontally so doing lipliner can look really bad if I’m not careful.
I would absolutely get the makeup tattoo. Talk about an instant face-lift! I'm 52 and had my eyeliner tattooed on in the early 2000's. It has faded, but there's nothing keeping me from doing it again. Of course, It was conservative and not winged eyeliner. Tattooing a fashion trend on teenagers is a recipe for Ragret.
The makeup tattoos are wonderful for people with scars, uneven skin tone, or other damage that people can be sensitive about. Medical tattoos have been done for decades for people who have lost nipples and to color matching skin grafts.
A true blessing. However, I would want to work closely with a dermatologist to be sure I'm not allergic to the pigments or hiding suspicious moles. Although I have five standard tattoos already, that ink has been used on millions of people. The makeup ink might be a formula that hasn't been as thoroughly tested.
I also really like the idea of BB glow. I don't wear makeup but I'm self conscious about my skin. I've got extremely dark circles and some acne scars. I think I will actually look into having it done
@@echo1336A Look into tinted sunscreens too! SPF protects the skin and sometimes all you need is a little tint
actually standard tattoo ink is not highly regulated or tested either. because tattoos are considered a cosmetic by the fda the pigments only need to follow the same regulations for pigments that go on top of your skin, like those in makeup. it’s not really known if those pigments are also safe to go in the body. btw i am someone who has multiple tattoos. i just want people to be informed on the science and facts behind tattoos
LittleWizard is right. The EU has actually recently banned lots of tattoo colors because they are expected to be potentially dangerous and are not very well researched.
Makeup tattoos can interfere with MRIs.
Female 67. I have seven tattoos and only sorta regret one and that's because the tattooist decided (without telling me) to add black lines that weren't in the original 🤬. Don't plan on getting any more because they're too expensive, plus 7 is a good number 😸
Can relate exept my tattooist was ass with thin outline so my anime tattoo is all uneven on my thigh. But its alright cause it covers a scar. I did have to get it touched up everyother year cause the original tattooist didnt use shading needles on larger spaces that i wanted fully colored and shaded. Ofc i was 18 new at tattoos n shit so i didn't ask anything but fuck shit took forever and was swollen asf. Never again going there piercings were great. Always do research cause my 18yo dumbass didnt for an anime tattoo artist
that happened to my mom they changed the design whithout telling her. I also had an artist do bad work on me but great work on some one else i knew. one tattoo wasn't even colored in all the way. i also got denied allot when i asked for a allice in wonderland tattoo no one wanted to do it. so for now i have 8.
@@ember350 that's funny because that tattoo was of a Cheshire cat I drew 😹
@@silverghostcat1924 really? lol I have the Cheshire cat as well it was to cover up my old tattoo lol
@@ember350 I have two Cheshire cats, the one I drew and one based off of a tshirt, in memory of a young woman (who was like family) that passed.
The tattoos in the reality TV show "How Far is Too Far" actually were with temporary ink like this. They were told it would only be there for a few months. 🤷♀️ The podcast Underunderstood did an episode about it.
Oh wow. I'll have to look that up. I wonder if they actually faded or what happened?
Nooooo that's why people were so mean with it!
No, they're unfortunately real, (or at least in the earlier seasons they were if they changed it.). The girl who got given a toilet with the word "dumped" has a UA-cam. She had to get hers covered up.
I mean thats just not true. You can follow contestants on social media and see them still there. Or the cover up they got
Why not edit this comment to say "how far is tattoo far"
I'm sure a ton of people corrected you already buy I'm a stickler for dumb stuff
Thank you !! I've been a tattoo artist for more than 10 years and you cannot believe how many "temporary tattoo" trends I've seen. People have to understand that skin and its depth are so particular to each individual we cannot standardized an ink that is being dissolved by the body or tattoo at the exact skin depth were your body is going to reject it. It is just impossible, that's why sometimes your tattoo needs touching up because the skin is not the same everywhere, on an inch square you have 4-5 different depths and we keep trying to find it correctly so your tattoo is nice to look at and persistent in time. Sorry I'm done, it was stronger than me I had to say something 😅
I stand with you, fam. In many ways, I don't feel bad for one of these people who are "upset".
@@deltasaves exactly, literally just do research or speak to a professional
@@deltasaves Or maybe blame the people who scammed them
I have 7 and what I REALLY regret is being so excited about the tattoo that I didn't get picky about the design/placement. Overall they're beautifully done but my back is nearly covered and the placements are awkward. A slight adjustment would have really elevated everything. So I suppose my advice is don't get so caught up in the thrill of the moment that you forget to advocate for EVERY detail and ensure you love it before the ink hits the skin. :)
Istg if i ever get a tattoo I'm sure I'll regret it even if its a simple tattoo
Then definitely just don't. I don't even pay attention or think about the tattoos I got years ago anymore they just feel like something that's always been there. Like a birthmark.
last night i literally had a nightmare about getting a tattoo i hated lol
same that kind of commitment would give me anxiety
@@crypticshadows this happened to me a while ago lol, I dreamed that I tattooed two huge black blobs in my face
I would regret it so bad, too! I love nail art and do my own nails but even if I LOVE the design I get bored of it a day or two later. I would not get a tattoo because I'm pretty sure I'd get bored of it so soon and want it off
One of my mates in uni did a huge tattoo on her hand saying "Ge ne regrette rien" or "I regret nothing". The problem is that she checked the phrase beforehand with our French prof (yes, she studied French) but still somehow managed to get Ge instead of Je 😅 needless to say that year later she covered up this tattoo with a dog image and some blackwork. Which she started to laser remove but that's another story xD
I wondered what language the phrase was bc it sounded french but it couldnt be because of the "ge" 😭
Out of every french word to screw up how do you mess up JE?
I’m ashamed to say that as a someone who can speak French, I didn’t realize the sentence was French until you said so.
The stress I felt when I studied french for so many years and couldn't remember what "ge" meant until reading the rest 😭
my first “tattoo” was a henna tattoo i got to just see how i’d feel about having something like that on my body. it was honestly really cool! i took good care of it, so it lasted a while, and i really liked it!
a few years later, and now i have a real tattoo of my own design in almost the same place on my arm. if anyone wants a temporary tattoo that doesn’t involve sticking needles in your skin and ACTUALLY FADES, please you henna instead of whatever this stuff is. it’s great for testing the position of a tattoo you’re planning on getting, or just for fun!
As a fairly tattooed person who absolutely loves all my tattoos, I feel sorry for persons who get these and end up stuck with blotches for months.
Something people forget is a tattoo is a scar as well. It is a bunch of needles puncturing your skin multiple times over a second, then add in mags for coloring and shading going over the same spot multiple times as well. Even if you get it removed, there's still the skin damage and scarring
I feel bad for the girl who got 47 lol
I have trichotillomania, which if you aren't familiar, is a mental disorder closely linked to OCD or other anxiety disorders that cause you to pull out your hair. For me it's always been the worst on my eyebrows and I actually cannot keep real eyebrows, so I got them microbladed in 2018. The way it was presented to me was that it was only semipermanent and would need to be touched up every 2 years, but not that it'd ever go away... Just that it wouldn't look as much like real hair in 2 years. It's obviously been almost 5 and it's still there, it just doesn't look as much like natural hair as it did when I got it. I'm poor so I've not touched it up like I should, but I never thought it'd completely go away. I got it because I'd been pulling my eyebrow hair for over a decade, so over half of my life, and the hair couldn't ever grow back correctly. I'm amazed that when I make a comment like "and since I have no eyebrows" it still surprises people because to them they still look real. They don't look as good as they used to because I've not gotten them touched up like I was meant to, but they are still clearly visible and continue to fool people into thinking I have hair there. I never pretended I did though and will always respond like omg no they're tattooed, feel it!
But my point is that with my semi-permanent tattoo, I was never given the impression it'd go away. I always just knew that for best results it needed to be touched up every 2 years. This is the first I'm hearing of these "temporary" tattoos, but I feel really bad for them and feel they've been misled... I thought we all knew it just meant it needed to be redone somewhat often to continue to look nice. I feel quite awful for people who had no idea!
I have that too but only for the hair on my head ive had my hair grow back since 2020 I didn’t have hair most pf the 2010s
i used inkbox once, which is an actual temporary tattoo company that look quite real (at least the smaller ones) and i really enjoyed it. paid like $15-$25 for it to last 2-3 weeks and then it faded away and i was happy with it. after that i got 5 real tattoos with no regrets.
even the concept of ephemeral tattoos is stupid to me. either you get a real tattoo, or try a fake ACTUALLY fade-able one. i dont see the reason in going through the same pain and paying a similar price to not get the real deal.
As a gal with full sleeves and a backpiece, it didn’t seem worth it to me to go through the pain just to have it disappear.
I’ve never regretted mine. They have never affected career opportunities or the way I’m treated. The person makes the tattoo….not the other way around! ❤
Great video. I had no idea this was a thing.
well said! i am in the progress of getting a full sleeve done. the pain is definitely worth it but i wouldn't sit trhough it if it's gonna disappear anyway.
3 personal criteria for getting tattoos (as someone who has a sleeve, legs tattooed, a hand tattoo, and others): (if at least 2 of 3 check out, it's a go)
1. Love yourself
- I wouldn't hate myself or my tattoo for having made that decision when I loved myself.
2. Love your artist
- I think people underestimate the importance of the experience itself. Ill always remember the conversations and time while getting them.
3. Love the piece
-if the piece is unquestionably great and exactly what you want, it's bound to look amazing.
After some cover ups on good tattoos but bad experiences and tattoos done by people I love and respect, it all comes down to remembering the experiences.
I think the problem with makeup tattoos is more that people get "trendy" makeup tattooed, like winged eyeliner, then regret it later once it goes out of fashion. I'd so much rather look back at my old attempts at eyeliner knowing it was just regular makeup lol - just getting your lash line done in black would look so much better and be much more timeless (plus not as visible when it fades), and I know that's what most people do get. Also, it is an issue that people get these temporary procedures without looking at what it'll actually look like in two or three years time, like a lot of the people I've seen who regretted it. Don't make big decisions based on what people look like 2 seconds after their procedure, kids!!
It's sorta like the Tumblr moustache trend. Sure tattoos can get removed but all that pain and money for inking sth that can go out of fashion in half a decade is a hard sell to me
I love tattoos! On other people… I only have one tattoo and it makes me smile everytime I look at it, but there’s absolutely nothing else I can confidently commit to. I have wanted this tattoo since I was 18 and I’m 23, got it 5 months ago for my birthday.
My tattoo is a pair, 3 paw prints beside each ankle. One for each of my doggos, they’re with me every step of the way.💕🐾🐾🐾
That's sooo cute, I won't tattoo myself because I'm too scared and my skin doesn't allow me, but if I would, I would choose my cats' paws :3
I want to get a tattoo for my doggie, Kodiak, who passed away a few months ago. But I don't have his paw print but I'm sure that's okay. Miss him everyday
Oh I love that! I lost my sweet kitty to cancer last summer, & have been wanting to get a small tattoo as a sort of memorial to him. He was the only reason I got out of bed some days during the worst of my depression. I do have an imprint of his actual pawprint, but I’m not sure if I can look at it just yet. Maybe soon. This is just such a sweet, wonderful idea❤️
i’m 20 w three tattoos and none of them mean anything other than i thought they were cute. the only regret i have is not going to a more skilled artist
Any tattoo will age differently based on a person’s body chemistry and lifestyle. Some people will find their tattoos barely change in years, while others will find them breaking down quickly. For some people these ones will vanish in a year but others could have them a long time. Lots of sun exposure can lead to tattoos not lasting as well.
I found out that it also depends on what base the color have - apparently some are iron based so if you have anemia your tattoo will disappear 😳
Whites and yellows fade out faster than other colors too.
An eyeliner tattoo is not as scary as you'd think. I've got it done in 30 minutes. No pain. 0 regrets. Look great. Never have to spend time perfecting eyeliner.
My friend's mom had that done it's from the 2000s and now it's grey looking and patchy i'm sure the ink is better now tho
@@meekonaleash but cant she refresh it?
These must have improved since I had mine, it hurt like hell and the gel that was supposed to numb the lids didn't work :\
@@bbbbbb6635 no but she said she regretted it instantly said it hurt like hell she's the type of lady that doesn't wear makeup so thought it would be a natural way to enhance her eyes. True face tattoos fade faster but depends on the person and if the tattoo artist knew what they were doing she went to a beauty place that does nails id suggest a real artist at a shop who's done it often and can prove their results. Tattoo ink goes very deep so you'd want someone who you can fully trust it's easy to get a blow out and don't want that on your eyelid forever means the ink doesn't sit under the skin properly and creates a blurred effect under the skin it leaks and stays like that forever only option after that is tattoo removal and idk if they create safe ones for eyelids at the moment. If so that's 1000 times worse then getting it done!

i’m 22 and had 7 tattoos before 21 for statistics. my friend’s mom got a “temporary” tattoo on vacation in greece i think with some word in latin. they said it’s gonna fade in 1-2 years. now, about 20 years later it’s still fresh as new)) plus they mistranslated the word and she got the wrong one lol
my mom’a friend got different make up tattoos(eyeliner, brows, lips) and it looks horrendous
Yeah these kinds of claims about semi permanent tattoos come and go over the years. And the hype always dies down after 2-3 years when it becomes obvious it absolutely doesn't always disappear.
As a tattoo lover I can’t fathom getting a tattoo that fades and paying the same amount of money… and honestly I can’t say the quality of these is too great
I feel people are less likely to be honest regarding their regrets where it comes to decisions they make personally, so prob there are more people who regret their tattoos but dont share that they regret it because they dont want to appear as someone who made a mistake. self preservation through dishonesty type of thing.
Tattoos aren’t for everyone! If getting a tattoo is a really big deal for you and you already think about eventually regretting it, you probably shouldn’t get a tattoo at all! But that’s not the case for everyone. I personally have a lot of tattoos (some with meaning, some without) and I’ve had them for many years. I don’t regret them and I don’t ever even think about them! They’re just a part of me.
@@becreb What a weirdo
@@becreb I was commenting more on the % given that the one provided in this video of %no regret is so high. I would say something around 75%-85% no regret would be more realistic statistically speaking. so I was speculating why it could be . It could also be just poorly conducted study that does not represent well general population.
@@teaja211 I think you forget that coverups and laser is a thing, making it easier then ever to not have tattoos on you that you regret.
I have 18-19 tattoos and I love each one of them! I snuck out of the house at 18 and got a tattoo done that I did hate, but got it covered up with a beautiful tattoo in its place. I tend to get mine with not much thought and try to go with my artists style and I’ve never been steered wrong by her💕
On the mini-topic in the video about tattooing your eyeliner: My mum recently told me she got her eyelids tattooed like eye liner. I was shocked, I never noticed and it actually looks really good. It really depends on the tattoo artist or your body's reaction I suppose.
a big problem that people are not talking about, too. is people saying they offer "fading tattoos" but just use normal ink. they use it as a marketing ploy to get people that normally would not get tattoo to get one.
13:25 solid advice!!! I love the way you share your opinion and findings without being rude
Also thank you for censoring the video on how deep tattoo needles go 💀
A new video so soon? You’ve made my night, thank you ❤️
i literally researched this brand so much a while back and I'm glad I waited it out omg
I am sad that a lot of people ended up having very faded looking - but not completely faded tattoos. But I am glad more of their stories are being told, so hopefully other similar minded people think about it a little more first :) I only have the tattoos that are not made to fade - but I had my first tattoo at age 26. so like, I had a lot of time to think about it. It was white ink on my ribs (because rib tattoo as first one? why not lol). and white ink is also said to "turn yellow" or "fade within a year" - but that is not true. white ink gots it's own unique challenges, and it does get slightly tinted when the skin grows over it (melanin in the skin). But I've had it for 7+ years now and it's just as read-able. I didn't start getting heavily into tattoos until I was 30. But for every new tattoo I get, the more I fall in love with my own body and enjoy looking at my own skin. All Neo-trad, all super colourfull and happy, and not a single regret :)
This is the first time I saw a sponsor and actually wanted to buy something. Definitely getting matching chains for me and my mom for mother's day !
My mom got her lip liner, eye liner, and eyebrows tattooed on the early 00’s. She’s now in her 60’s and the eyeliner has faded horribly and looks smudged. Lip liner has mostly faded at this point thankfully. She still continues to get her eyebrows done which is just looks like 2 blocky cartoon eyebrows. Yet she says I can’t get a tattoo lol
Sounds like your mom is projecting her regrets onto you lol
Same with my mum but after turning legal i paid for my tattoos and she still thinks I shouldn't have gotten them
I have a bunch of large, colorful, anime and video game tattoos and plan on getting more. No regrets and I love them all. I'm happy that I live and work in a place that people couldn't care less about them.
If you ever think you might not want to get a tattoo because you're afraid you're going to regret it or get bored of it, then that's probably a good sign that yeah, maybe you shouldn't.
I have five tattoos and love them all. I want more. They are so addictive lol. I got my first one at 18
I have this rule for myself where I can't get more than one tattoo a year and it has to be a tattoo I've wanted for over a year. I know it's not much, but there are tattoos I really want to get done since I was 18 but I'm slowly getting there, taking my time to see if I really really want to become heavily tattooed
I think the "no more than 1 a year" is a good rule. I know loads of people who go nuts with it and get them in rapid succession. Went back for a second tattoo from the artist who did my first two years prior and she told me I had "good self control" since I went 2 years between tattoos LOL girl i'm broke and try hard to control my impulsivity but thank you!
my mom has this eyeliner tattoo and another one on her stomach. it was supposed to fade after a few years, of course, its still as fresh as ever.
I'm in medical school and have 3 tattoos. My biggest fears were pain and whether I'd get bored of the tats. My first was just lettering but since the pain was 0/10, I went crazy for my 2nd - got a piece that took around 8 hours. Then got an inner arm piece. Currently planning out a back. I can easily say that I don't regret any of them but I also took a lot of time to plan and get the exact artist I wanted
22, I currently have 35 or 36 tattoos and I only regret some placements but not the tattoo itself!! I have maybe 5-10 that were planned/have meaning, but otherwise I ask the artists what they want to tattoo/to design me something/surprise me or (one of my favorite things to do) I'll do tattoo roulette where I roll a dice and get what I get (obvi if you really don't want it you dont have to get it!)
I feel as though my tattoos help me feel less anxiety and need to control things by practicing letting go of that need all while showing off awesome artists and art!
Ha! I also like being surprised. My artist is a friend of mine and I find joy in being able to be a canvas for her, and carry her handiwork on my skin. I'm not at all fussed by permanent changes to my body. Scars, even gnarly and visible ones including ones on my face never bothered me, so tattoos don't either. At the end of the day, it's just a sack of flesh, and it'll one day die and those tattoos will rot or be cremated to atoms. If I want to remember something, I'll jog my memory, I don't need it to be needled into my skin, though all the tatts I have do hold some sentimental value (I keep live shrimp, ok? I thinknthey're such wonderful creatures, so it made sense to celebrate the glory of living shrimp with a shrimp tattoo). Still, the next one will be a crab performing an olympic press with a fish between its claws. Zero meaning, but it makes me laugh. It's ok. In 40 years they will all be inky blobs anyway as I turn 70. Hell, I guess they help me practice letting go and not taking changes too seriously, too.
Im glad you made this video. I had booked an appointment for next week but cancelled after seeing this. It was a stupid tart but I don't think I wanna deal with it looking 10x more stupid during the fading process
I just got one of these recently, they have updated their info/claims. If it fully fades before a year (new tattoo, equal or lesser value), if it lasts more than 3 (full refund), and they say to expect it’s to be fully gone in 22-24 months. They also let you know all the factors that play into fade time such as melanin, spf use, and immune system, etc.
TLDR: they don’t just leave you completely in the dark with fade times, it’s just highly variable.
And by recently, I mean 4 days ago.
My aunt is an amazing permanent makeup artist so I’ve been getting my brows done with her for a decade. It’s amazing but you have to understand how it really works, there is upkeep depending on your skin. She convinced me to do the eyeliner one time and luckily I only did a thin line because I was so anxious the whole time I’ll never do it again. Been curious about the bb glow because I finally got my acne under control but have some hyperpigmentation and discoloration, holding off for now.
Wanted to comment on the eyeliner tattoo cause I did it at 22 and now I’m 27 and I still absolutely love it. I did it differently then the girls in the video, I got it on my lash line (which you can argue is dangerous) but I have very fine lashes and the thin black eyeliner really makes me eyes more vibrant and it doesn’t even look like makeup.
Love your contacts, the color is amazing!
I have a few tats and I don't regret them one bit. I actually have a few more planned. With that being said, absolutely think this through before getting one. Personally I consider them a part of my story and even if I may find something about them cringy years from now, I'm still gonna see them as a part of my journey and a learning moment, rather than regret.
I had my eyeliner tattooed at 18. I'm glad I couldn't really see it much, like there was no wing or anything and they fade. 15yrs later it's pretty much gone
Luckily my mom is my tattoo artist so I ain’t getting a tattoo unless my mother thoroughly approves. Good way to not get regret worthy tattoos. I also think on them for at least a year beforehand
How are you edvasian ? I hope this month goes well for you. I am a long time supporter.
I have one of the Ephemeral Tattoos, and I got it in March of 2021. Still looks similar to when I first got it, but like you said how it is appealing to first-timers, this was actually my first tattoo. I put a lot of thought into it, and it is quite large, so I am glad it stuck around even if it was supposed to have faded by now. I think the issue is that I am the exception, and the standard "flash" tattoos that they do in visible spots not fading they should remove from their branding, email lists and ads. However, I still think that if it is your first and you have a solid idea and are willing to deal with the fading period, it's a great option.
Well... I have 3 permanent tattoos and I recently did a semi-permanent *eyeliner* tattoo. Yes. I lived a nightmare. And I cried the night before doing it, so I *had* to do it another time lol I'm not regretting anything rn so, good for me
I have five tattoos and only one of them was really thought out and has sentimental meaning, it was my first one... the others are done by a tattoo artist that I trust but are just: "maaaan, this will look so cool", they are really well done and I love them and I plan to continue them. Honestly I kinda get the "in the future you'll regret them" but I've had my tattoos for four years and sometimes I even forgot I have them, my mind sometimes just filter them since I'm so used to having them until someone points them out or I've been in the sun for too long and my mind is shouting: "take care of them, they cost you so much money!"
And that last thing is why I think getting 'temporary tattoos' with the same pain and long process (and the post care until it heals!!) instead of getting it on henna is just... why...? henna is right there!!! it will disappear in three months tops if you take care of it!!
i'm in the mentioned demografic, have a couple (big) tattoos, and absolutely no regrets :) i love to have this art be part of my body. Other than 1, all my tattoos are abstract, so im not scared of them deforming or becoming out of style. theyre all in places i can put away, like leg and chest
I have one small cross tattoo on my ankle and I love it. I've also been microblading my brows for a few years and those I love even more 🥰
A while back I listened to an episode of Under Understood where they looked into How Far is Tattoo Far and Ephemeral. They eventually got in touch with a girl who'd been on an episode of How Far is Tattoo Far and how manipulated she'd felt. She'd also been told that her tattoo would fade in time but after a couple years she had to get a cover up tattoo that she doesn't even like that much.
I am right at the cutoff age of 29 and I have 17 tattoos. Will be getting them for years and years to come!
36 here and same.
I have two tattoos and I love them. I've always wanted tattoos, but both were essentially planned and booked within the span of one/two months. It's about planning and sitting on a design for a while, or being happy with the idea of fondly reminiscing on an impulsive tattoo. I'd hesitate doing anything on the face. In terms of makeup, new and "better" products come every other day while that tattoo technique is stuck in the past. Beauty trends don't last!
If you're thinking of getting anything permanent done, maybe consider a piercing first (I also have 7 in my ears incl. earlobe and two noserings next to each other), then you can switch out jewellery or take them out. The downsides are, of course, a long healing process of several months, scarring and potential complications.
It is all about understanding the risks and accepting that any issues are yours to face. Any body modifications or cosmetic procedures/surgeries should never be undergone without being aware that "worst case scenario" may happen to *you*!
My first tattoo I got a cute little lilly of the valley which compliments me so much I still love it. Took me a while to chose a artist and a first tattoo possibly 3 months.
I'm planning my second which be my cat with a blossom tree as her name is blossom
this is so off topic but you should make a podcast your voice is SO calming
Since I was 14, I was set on having one especific tattoo. When I was 18 I did it and now I'm 33, still loving it. I've never got a second one because I was never as sure of the design as the first time.
Same! I knew what tattoo I wanted when I was 13, I got it when I was 19, & now I'm 46 & still love it. And I've also never gotten a 2nd one cos I've never been 100% sure of another idea (tho also cos I sometimes get horrible eczema in the exact places I'd want to have a tattoo, which is annoying).
I have 5 tattoos and regret none of them. They're all deeply meaningful and tasteful. 😊 One is on my spine, one on the back of my neck, two on the sides of my forearms and one at the back of my left arm. It all looks like jewellery and are very minimalist but quotation based.
y oooooo😅o😅ok
Hate to tell you but 'tasteful' and 'quotation-based' do not belong in the same sentence. Doesn't mean they're bad, just means you're not above us with the pictoral ones. Quote tatts are about as basic b* as tatts get. So join the club, lady, we've got beer.
@@Killjoy_Mel ma'am I wasn't implying I'm above pictorial based tattoos, you're projecting hard rn. 😂 My comment is about MY body and MY life and was in no way attacking anyone else including you. My tattoos are just meaningful to me, and what I wanted for my body. One day maybe I'll get a pictorial one.
My tattoos *are* tasteful, and not basic, they're in elvish and Sanskrit so they kind of look abstract and not so much like words unless you know what you're looking at, which is what I was after. 😊. All that matters is that I'm happy with them, you're not going to make me feel bad about my tattoos so stop trying 😂😂 if you're that pressed about someone commenting about how they feel about their own tattoos on their own body, maybe you feel less secure in your own tattoos than you are trying to make out?
I don't drink beer but I'll be here chilling with my tattoos and my weed, and you can chill with your tattoos and your beer. Hope you keep loving yours as I'll keep loving mine. Peace.
I have 3, they took planning and some took many sketches, no regrets at all, sketching out the next few rn
I'm really happy with the results of my lip blush and microblading procedures.
I had “semi permanent makeup” on my eyebrows at 18 and was told it would only last a maximum of 3 years. Here I am at 25, with the eyebrows still as fresh as the day I had them done. It absolutely should not be allowed to be marketed as semi permanent. 😅
Those companies should actually be sued for false advertisement and for scarring people’s bodies long term. Imagine going to a fair for face paint and that shit never washes off.
I have 9 tattoos on my arms and don't regret any of them because like you said I put more thought into them and can look back on where I was in life when I'm older and see my tattoos. Obviously I plan to get more to where my body is decently covered since it makes me more confident in my body and I am lucky enough to be in a line of work where they do not care about tattoos
Im getting tattoos soon, im excited and i enjoyed seeing all the info in the comments. I get tattoos for aesthetic reasons, not meaningful reasons. It must be a lot harder to decide a tattoo if you put meaning behind it
My grandma got an eyeliner tattoo in the 60s, thankfully it was just where her lashes actually are so you can’t really tell
Im quite covered including my shoulders to thighs, don’t regret any of them. That being said, all were custom made for me based on my ideas and I am very picky with artists. I’ve spent about $24k on them. So I was choosing wisely.
My grandmother got her eyeliner tattooed on back in the 90s. It’s patchy and kinda blue colored now, but she still rocks it! 😁
Same with mine. She had both her eyebrows and her eyeliner done.
I have a sleeve on one arm that goes into my entire upper back. I also have my entire left thigh done from hip to knee.
But I’m 42. And I started getting tattoos when I was 30, so a little different statistically.
I have zero regrets.
*Serious question:*
What's wrong with using an ink marker quided with a plastic tracing template?
It won't last more than a few days if you hate it, or you can keep touching it up with 2-minutes and the ink marker if you really like it.
It's not ideal, but if you really, really, like it, you can still walk up to the tattoo artist and ask for it to be made permanent at any time.
Why wouldn't that be completely standard in the tattoo industry?
Because it’s not an artist’s job to baby people who aren’t sure whether they want a tattoo or not. Most highly successful artists either do exclusively custom work, or predrawns, or a combination. They also don’t get paid for design time. And many of them have waiting lists. Why would they choose the waste an appointment placing a stencil on a person who needs days or weeks to decide if they even like it when in many cases they already have more potential clients than they could possibly work with.
Of course if an individual is unsure-they should take it upon themselves to test out a design in the area they’re thinking about. But you don’t need a marker and stencil for that. There are a number of companies that make high quality temporary tattoos that last a week or two. Of course the issue remains that this won’t be exactly the same design because, unless you made it yourself, it’s generally insulting to ask an artist to copy work off of the internet.
I agree with the person above but also you may have luck explaining your situation to a shop and ask if you could pay them for the design and stencil application. Or alternatively you can buy an original work from someone with consent that you may have it tattooed later. If you do that though just be sure to keep those messages or have them write a consent form to give to a tattoo artist because any tattoo artist worth your time won't copy work.
As part of your prime demographic of "18-29 year old womans", I have 13! I'm still working for some to complete two sleeves~ Truly no regrets. Been going to the same shop with 11/13 of them by the same artist. Real sweetheart and great artist! He's seen me through a lot of the stories behind these!
Is it just me or is edvasian just one of the nurse gorgeous people in earth. I could hear his voice and look at his face all day. I'm mesmerized
i'm 18 and i have one tattoo right now but will have four at the end of this week. all four of these tattoos are very meaningful and have been planned since i was 15-16. the one i currently have is a memorial tattoo for my friend who passed, and the next 3 are two simple designs and one quote from music that had been absolutely crucial in me surviving and healing from the trauma i have been through. i'm getting into therapy for it today and committing to improvement, so getting the tattoos in a few days is a very important thing for me. even if one day i identify with the music less, they're fun designs and the biggest point of them is to symbolise growth, so i would be fine with it.
after that. silly tattoos baby!! maybe i'll find some more meaningful stuff down the line but at heart i'm an artist and i want to be covered in art from people i love or respect. the music tattoos and memorial tattoo are like that too. it's just that because i couldn't get tattoos as a fifteen year old i had a long time to think about these four in advance lolol
If you are thinking about getting a tattoo, I would recommend (as a tattoo artist) to start with something small. :)
Pros to that, in comparison to the „fading tattoos“, is that it will still look good in a few years and if you start to dislike it, you can still get it lasered.
In my opinion better than having something that looks like a toddlers drawing after a few weeks and might not come of after all. 😐
People! Also watch out for inkbox tattoos. I got a temp tattoo for my arm and it was good for about a week, I then had a terrible allergic reaction to where the ink was applied. They'll reimburse you if you have an allergic reaction and pay for the prescription but I am not the only person who got a terrible reaction in the exact shape and spot as my temp tattoo
I’m getting my first two tattoos done next summer for my birthday. I’ve wanted tattoos for decades and I’m finally in the life position to be able to get them done. I have chronic illnesses and have wanted to get butterfly tattoos because they are a known symbol for auto immune and chronic pain diseases. Also they’re my favorite animal, I frequently visit butterfly gardens because I love them so much
As someone with tattoos, I never understood this semi perm stuff. If you want a tattoo without the commitment, there are plenty of options! Henna and things like Inkbox are great options that are still fully customizable! I for sure get the "I want the experience of getting a tattoo", as it is very fun and a one of a kind thing. However, I can see so many problems with this kind of tattoo. For one, there is a lot of risks when getting a normal tattoo. For example, infections are a huge risk, and I can see someone being careless because it is going to fade and not cleaning it properly afterwards. Another thing I learned the hard way, if you don't eat or sleep enough before AND after getting any kind of tattoo you can get temporarily very ill. Again, if people are being very careless and getting these on a whim, I could see them not doing any kind of research into what you should and shouldn't do while getting a tattoo. Finally, as I've seen some tattoo artists mention here, even once the tattoo fades completely there's still a HIGH chance of there being a scar underneath that will not fade. Tattoos (as I understand them) are essentially colored scars at worst, and pretty skin trauma at best.
In any case, these kinds of semi perm tattoos just don't seem like a great idea to me.
About the semi-permanent makeup, what I enjoy about makeup is that I can look different each day. I can contour my face to look more masculine or more feminine, or I can choose between red and pink blush. You don’t really get to do that with this.
Had my first tattoo at 20yo, 4 years later I now have 13. I always approach them with all seriousness, preparing the idea and even a moddboard long before I start the design and then do several iterations after a fitting. Even the one tattoo I did as a walk in during an event is still my own design. Even tho I don't shame people for getting random tattoos they regret in a week, I don't understand those who want to have tattoos just for the idea of having tattoos. I've seen so many people that didn't consider the placement or design nuances (like how it will distort during movement or weight gain; how it will interact with other tattoos they already have; etc) and I think people need to be a bit more educated before getting tattoos.
I have like 10 tattoos and I’m 27 🫶🏽 no regrets 🙌🏽🙌🏽 planned all mine and they’re super special to me and they’re cute 💜
I really like your channel and calm personality, ☺️
I have about 30/40 tattoos (I have a patchwork sleeve, so it's kinda hard to keep track lol), about 95% of them are joke tattoos and none of them were made to fade. I also did all of them myself haha
If you want a tattoo, just get one. It's better to get a good one that's made to stay than to get one that's going to fade imo
agreed! my first few are actually stick and pokes and I have two I got at tattoo expos (never made an appt at a studio yet) and I have around 10-12 tattoos. I practised on my feet more than my arms tho, but that's cool as. what did you use to do your tattoos? tattoos are like writing an essay - the best way to get it done is to just start and not over-think.
Don't get laser tattoo removal, its cheaper to get a better tattoo over the bad one. I love my tattoos! I don't regret them, now, since they are better than the past ones. I am going to age disgracefully... I noticed some very subtle dewy eyeshadow on your eyes Ed, looking nice!
I'm up to 8 tattoos at the moment. Can't wait for more
I love my tattoos, I have a fair mix of very meaningful and just for for fun tattoos. It took a year to finish my sleeve and it’s still the best thing ive ever bought for myself. I don’t regret any of them and still want a ton more 😅😂😂❤❤
damn I was planning on getting one of those lol
My mom actually had eyeliner tattoos done, must've been in the 80s. It's faded to blue now.
I made my first and only tattoo some months ago. A koi fish in the side of my neck. I love it so muchhh and only a few people notice it!
Hilarious and intriguing video as usual. Going to sleep not regretting my 3 permanent tattoos as I got them to celebrate major milestones in my life.
