I saw Ateez in concert in December, and because I was so close (mild flex), I was surprised by how much texture I could see on the members' skin, then realized, duh, they're human, of course their skin has texture! We constantly get fooled by marketing and retouching into thinking our favourite celebs are flawless and their skin is a part of that flawlessness, but oftentimes (at least for me), it's their humanity and flaws that makes us fall in love with them. So I wish that part of the industry were more honest

As someone who works at an Ulta, I can confirm children have been coming in droves for the Drunk Elephant products and leaving it a mess. They keep getting so disgusting so quickly my GM told us to just not make testers of them anymore. Also they're bronzing drops have been sold out since like Black Friday and I still get asked 5 times a day if we have them, and most of the people asking are 12 year olds. I just know these kids parents just drop them off at the mall with their credit cards and let them run havoc. Granted, me and my friends used to hang out at the mall as kids but we would never wreck anything and also we had like $20 to spend so we'd shop the clearance sections and then still save a couple bucks for food. I don't wanna sound like a boomer but some kids need to learn to respect public places.

i've had acne since i was 11, and i had a hard time sticking with products because i always broke out and was too embarrassed to go to school with my face full of acne every single day. i'm 20 now and finally got to see a dermatologist early last month, and i'm not stressing out if the two products i'm using are working or not, because i'm finally taking the time to trust the process and wait as long as i need to. my acne has gotten better as i got older but it still makes me self conscious from time to time. i'm grateful that people are starting to be neutral about skin, but nothing can make up for the massive amount of nights i spent crying because i hated the way i looked.

I’m a licensed esthetician and the only products I recommend for my younger clients are a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen. Or even a moisturizer and sunscreen combination for clients that don’t want to have so many steps. For my acne clients I usually let them know to get a spot treatment for their acne. My clients come to me to help them manage their skin and I let them know they are still young and their hormones are the ones causing acne. I always tell them it is fine they don’t use the products. My job is to recommend and it’s up to them, with all my clients I never force them to use something. Also I don’t know if it’s still happening to kids but why do others bully each other for their skin, they can’t control acne from happening. Genetics play a huge part in getting acne, like are they going to make fun of their parents as well. But my point is you don’t need a 10 step beauty routine when you’re just a teenager, you’re a kid and you’re still growing.

Damn, your skin is really set to hell mode 😰 I've only dealt with cystic acne and that was already hard, it took a lot of time to figure out I break out mostly because of drinking milk, which my mom always told me would make me taller... I spent so much money on skincare but nothing actually made a huge difference as giving up all dairy foods (which is so hard because I love cheese and ice cream 😭)
Your skin is probably a tough battle everyday, don't get too frustrated with yourself if you make some progress but still get flare ups and break outs and bruises, sometimes I still eat some cheese because I want to live well in the moment and deal with the consequences later 🫣 Skin is so personal that others advice may not be all that useful, so all the best luck to find treatments or lifestyle changes that work for you!

I laughed at the “water and dish rag to wash your face”.
I do that! I’m 38 and dealt with acne from 22 till 33. I tried all the usual washes. I finally got an acne prescription which was basically a very low-dose antibiotic. After that, I washed my face every night with just water and a washcloth and washed it with a Berts Bees Sensitive skin cleanser about once every 4 days. I took the medicine for a year till I lost my insurance and continued my regular washing routine. My skin has stayed clear.
This video actually made me feel better about myself. My skin looks 200 times better than all those pictures without the filters, I don’t even have bumps like that.
Maybe mine is doing so well because I’ve never spent more than a week with any skincare routine that puts a bunch of stuff on my face. It’s always only been about the acne washes. Plus I never used any coverups or foundations. My only makeup routine is a bit of eyeliner.
Never thought I’d watch a video about unattainable standards and walk away feeling great. 😄

I know that preventative skin care for children under 12 is something that can be effective: For instance, anything that prevents oily skin and/or Acne from starting! I could have used Proactiv, Acnease, Accutane starting in the fifth grade, to prevent Acne from starting! Back in the Day!

My daughter uses retinol at 12 because i got it for her😂 but its not for wrinkles, its for acne scars which she was already really self conscious over. & it makes us both break out a lot less. I had to get her some once i watched my face full of acne scars completely disappear in 2-3 months & i even stopped breaking out❤ Its cerave retinol resurfacing serum in case anyones wondering, itll get rid of the red scars & the deep ones!

what I really dislike about this trend too, is that many people act as if it’s easily achievable within a week as long as you have the correct products. people sometimes compliment me on my skin but I always tell them that it is the result of a consistent skincare routine I’ve had for 6 years. it’s not overnight, it’s habit that after years can show good results.

I have had bad acne on my cheeks for awhile. I'm 22 now and it's only gotten worse. I struggle to find the "perfect skin care routine" I feel like I've tried everything down to diet. People keep marketing their products and saying they cure acne. If I can stop trying to "cure it" and just love my skin I think I'd be a lot happier. I just want to stop worrying about it. I know I'm hygienic that should be enough.

Tretinoin, CeraVe or other simple moisturizer and sunscreen. This is what helped my oily, sensitive, acne prone skin.
I also stopped washing my face in the morning. I put on my sunscreen (re-apply it of course) and that's it.
But I did a lot of research and experiments to get to where I am now.

Last year I was using different am and pm creams, retinoids, bha and aha, niacins, acids, along with salicylic cleansers. my skin was absolute garbage. Instead now I just use Simple’s daily light moisturiser, wash my face once at night, sun cream and use a prescribed acne treatment and my skin is calmer, softer, and clearer than ever.

You should make a video highlighting just how long photos have been edited. Think about it, have you ever seen a Victorian with freckles or acne? Also whenever you see an impossibly small waist in antique photos 98% of the time you can see the shadow of where the waist was originally. Editing photos was just part of the service you would get to process the pictures back then.

I think I got really good skin, I've never dealt with serious acne, or any of the other problem children. But, the standard of perfect clear untouched smooth skin is so hard to live with, especially as someone who doesn't wear make up. I just feel that standard a lot, and sometimes, I think I feel that standard ten-fold because I don't like to wear make up, so I'm constanly seeing blurred made up faces, and comparing them to mine.
