- 'The Wind Cries Mary' by Jimi Hendrix is probably one of my all time favourite songs. I have always loved the simplicity of it but at the same time it is technical too. This was one of the tracks that always got skipped by many of us in the 70s but it's funny how later in life when your getting old and decrepit The skipped tracks of the 70s become gold dust in old age not sure why it's like they hold the very essence of that decade of fabulous music. Absolutely love this cover ❤
I raised my son as a single dad in Renton, WA very close to where Jimi rests at Greenwood Memorial. I visited him often and meditated there especially after the memorial was built and I will say, an old friend's father installed the red marble on the ceiling. I have many photos to share if you're interested
I Served 20 years in the Navy up North from there on Whidbey Island Washington!!! I surrrrrrrre miss it!!!!

Love this song. I remember when it came out. My most amazing memory is I was dancing to my favourite song I want to hold your hand on November 22nd 1963 and it stopped with them saying Kennedy was shot. Then I listened to Dylan's Murder most foul recently and as he's talking about the time he was shot, he says, I want to hold your hand and I was in the wheatbelt Western Australia. How bizarre

Curious as to why he didn't attempt some double stop sections. Maybe je felt it would mess up the slap/strumming groove, it would be a little tricky to transfer.
