  • I own a Tiger 5.5-Cup Micom Rice Cooker and Warmer from costco: Model - JBV-S10U
    www.costco.com...
In this video, I cooked 3 cups of jasmine rice at "Plain" setting. It took 40 minutes to make my rice.
Typically, though... I usually cook rice under the "Quick" setting. This though.. takes roughly 25minutes to make rice. It's not exactly quick... since once the rice is done,.. it takes another 5min for the moisture inside the rice cooker to evaporate. So realistically, it will take about 30minutes for the rice to be ready to eat under quick setting.
Yep.. just made this video to show how long it takes to make rice with this rice cooker.
I'm surprised too.. since my old cheap rice cooker seems to make rice abit faster then this rice maker.

I am confused with the timer. Why you said 40 mins but your timer on "Plain" says 11:25?

11:25 is the clock time. ie current time... That number has nothing to do with estimated cooking Time

Does it automatically know how much rice is in it? Im a little confused about the timer.. could you do a video of complete set up from put of the box?

      1. Yes.. it knows how much rice is automatically in it. It's because you fill the rice cooker based on the marked markings inside the metal pot which tells you how much water you need.
The rice cooker doesn't display how much time is needed to cook at the different levels. It will display a message when only a few minutes are left (Sadly)
It automatically cooks the rice based on how much rice/water you place into it.
The setup is simple.... When I make rice next time.. I can try making a video.
      1. Plug in the rice cooker to the outlet.
      2. Press the menu button (to select the rice option you want). By default it's set to "Plain" But you can choose "Quick" if you want it to make rice quickly.
      3. Put the Rice metal pot with rice + water into the cooker
      4. Finally press "Start" to start your rice cooker.
so.... you don't really know how long it takes...
At different points... it might tell you.. like 15 min left.
      I'm not sure....
I know when it's like 3 minutes left.. I see that it displays there is 3min left or something.

Thanks dude. I hate reading so you taught me how to use it. 👌

totally.. I made the video without reading the manual. A good product shouldn't require a manual to use imo

Oh good. I just bought this and was a little worried when I looked at it and it was a lot smaller than our other one. The cookbook that comes with it said “1-2 cups is allowed” and I think that just meant when using the steamer. I usually cook about 3 cups and our old one was just too big and someone left rice in it for a long time and now I can’t get the smell out so I bought this one from Costco.
