I have this one in french but never played it yet. The FR version has 672 pages, including 150 pages of unpublished content, here is a small list of the additions spotted:
1. At Lake Camp, detail what is beyond the fossil cache. On the condition of moving away from the script, there is enough to play an adventure in the atmosphere of Voyage to the center of the Earth.
2. A more detailed version of the City and what can be done there, intended to allow a stay of several days instead of a few hours of the vo. The mini-scenarios are nice and the additional ratio of background is welcome.
3. An exploration of the Abyss which extends under the City, for the masochists who would like to rub shoulders with the filth that live there. The area is horribly dangerous, especially for investigators interested in combat. Cowards have a better chance of survival.
4. An opportunity to interact with the third expedition at its base camp and understand its fate, which was only mentioned in the original version. This big side scenario, rich in possibilities, can serve as an alternative end.

I have a similar story to yours, I played 5th edition avidly between 1992 and 1994 but then stopped when I went to university. I remember seeing this campaign in the shops but never played it.
You beat me again! My original copy is a softcover. I had to get a hardcover copy. I recently read Arthur Gordon Pym. Those aren't excerpts. That's the last chapter of the book that was not originally published (though this wasn't written by Poe). It's a fun read. Well worth it. Check out God Cancer too. Lots of great ideas. Mine is on it's way.
I’m not sure the crew I run with would enjoy the amount of (probable) minute detail required to be a PC in this game. Would still be a good read though.
Great review and unboxing. I have the PDF of BtMoM. Seeing your page through, I would have preferred that Chaosium reformated the campaign with the 7th edition. I like luv the 7E layout and that really attracted me to CoC. It is colorful and full of cool art. The older editions not so much. I did pull the trigger on HotOE and am glad I did that.Anyway great video!
The intent is to fully update to 7th in a few years. I have no idea how much work it takes to update to the 7th layout, but my guess is that doing that without updating the stats was prohibitive.
We're at least four or more years away from producing an updated full color version for 7th Ed, and meanwhile there's a lot of demand from fans who'd like to own a physical copy and not pay collector prices - MOB, Chaosium Inc.
There were a lot of significant changes when they upgraded Masks of Nyarlathotep, not to mention all new artwork and maps. I expect there's a large amount of work involved, which makes their 3-4 year time estimate make sense.
Im running this adventure right now on Roll20. Really interesting story and super in-depth stuff. We are on chapter 11 and have been playing almost a year. A really slow burn but worth it
Oh, i need this one... :D Where i can find some sort of a list of classic scenarios or campaigns (even those which Chaosium Inc. has no rights to publish)? How to find the good stuff? Sorry for bad English and have a nice one!

Glad its more available. I'm in the same boat picking up supplements every so often but not played it as much as I'd like due to less players locally
Really hope they do a Remake of this one too at some point. Sadly its so low on priority, its not even on their active radar.
They have confirmed that they will never do a re-make. They solved the problem of a high-cost secondary market.

I'm pretty sure Mike Mason has said it multiple times in interviews but I don't remember the specific one.

I thought this version was to stop the secondary market over charging and an edition for 7th edition done in the vain of Masks and Orient was tentatively due 2025/26 from what i heard at the time. Nothing set in stone but it was mentioned being a few years out being done
