    All fats are not bad. Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids are essential. Avocados and olive oil are full of healthy fats. Your heart is in the right place, but a more balanced approach will certainly be more helpful.

      Yeah deffo agree with you there olive oil proper olive oil when I have it everyday my sex drive and performance just goes through the roof. The body will tell you when your doing things right and also when your not Example hang over your body saying don’t do that shit to me again we live like the brain and body are two separate things ‘oh I’m going to eat that even tho it’s not good for me but I just want the rush my body will be okay I’ll stop one day

      Yes, what she's saying to us amounts to: "Stop eating meat and become a vegetarian." I mean that's the camp she's in -- while the perhaps less biased of us remain ever in the non-any-particular camp. Which is to say still searching, still learning, and still experimenting as to what's healthiest and best for us. Thanks for your comment, both accurate and succinct.

      This video is very missleading. The woman is trying to convert You to vege lifestyle which is not healty at all in the long run. Half of her "knowledge" based on unknown studies is opposite to actual knowledge. Cardiologist Dr. Pradip Jamnadas who is very renowned in medical and scietific world because of his impact on healthy life style and diet through studies and research as a medical doctor with over 30 yesrs of practice says different things about gut bacteria and what is good/bad for it. I' sorry, I don't believe vegan activists who cannot provide any concrete studies/evidences. To me, this video is just a commercial.

      I agree. Carnivore diet cured all my ailments. Veggies kill my guts and cause inflammation. We as humans are meant to eat meat, not veggies, starches, sugars or grains.

    I am a doctor but this doctor didn’t do enough research for sure.
    People who eat kimchi in Asia don’t get stomach cancer from kimchi.
    It’s a known fact that people in those countries eat lots of smoked fish and cancer is caused by nitrates.
    Just remember, everything is good in reasonable amount and what your system can handle. Except for fast food, processed foods and sugars.
    Everyone is different so vegan diet might work perfectly fine for some but will not be the best diet for most

    Her recommendations of broccoli and beans I would have to disagree with if you have IBS and need fiber. This would aggravate the symptoms of many IBS people, so be careful about the advice there. I would say something like seaweed, acacia are examples of more IBS friendly fibers and certain vegetables like bok choy, kale, swiss chard. Avoid certain foods or vegetables if you suffer from sinuses or allergies along with your IBS (see low histamine diets).

    Higher rates of stomach cancer in Korea are also potentially linked to the high stress and high alcohol consumption among other factors. Correlation is not causation in regards to kimchi consumption for higher rates of cancer.

    What about processed foods? She speaks broadly about single ingredient foods, but nothing about prepackaged foods with preservatives (which is probably 80% of available foods at the grocery store). What do preservatives do to bacteria?

      Feed the bad ones. And then you get dysbiosis/SIBO. That happens when the bad bacteria overpower the good and it sucks. I had to take an antibiotic to kill it and have to be careful to eat only clean. You also get leaky gut and high inflammation with more bad gut bacteria. I’m eating AIP now to recover my gut.

      Sulfites in food preservatives kill good bacteria and prevent their growth. This is how food can last for a year in a box, bag or can on a grocery store shelf.

      They also have a short lifespan and they have arterial disease. This is from studies done on Eskimos who eat a traditional high fat diet. Now many eat a junk food diet so aren't any better off than their ancestors.

    Can you guys PLEASE differentiate between animal fat and plant fat. It gets very confusing. She said high fat foods should be avoided because its harmful.. Okay great but does this include high fat plant foods like nut butters or avocados? Should we limit these foods or can we eat these foods abundantly?
    It is okay to eat a high fat diet (over 20% of calories) if the fats are coming from whole (or minimally processed) plants? If not, could you explain why and with sources? Thanks!

I do believe polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are healthy and a lack of healthy fats in the diet is not good.. hemp seeds, flax seeds, chia seeds, peanuts, walnuts, these are healthy whole plant foods.. you should only limit them if you’re trying to reverse chronic disease

    Not complete information. For some of my clients, veg irritate them. I doubt very much that their gut biome is healthy when they have inflammation and IBS. For them, carnivore with high natural fat calms their inflammation and autoimmune disease. They cannot eat broccoli. So, for others, we need to remove wheat and dairy to get their inflammation/gut to calm. Point is, there is not one solution for all people. Leaky gut is not caused by fat, but more likely a sensitivity to wheat or another food.

      Not if they have added sugar. Also, check out polyunsaturated fats. They cause inflammation. Too much omega-6, not enough omega-3. Most nut butters have some kind of vegetable oil added.

But the research confirms that high fat foods are acidic and that disease thrives in acidic conditions. Its fat that causes arteries to become clogged, fat that helps cancers metastisise, fat that accumulates on our bodies in unsightly ways, fat that feeds unhealthy microbes.....
      But it tastes good. And that's about all it has going for it

      Your gallbladder is there to retain the bile, but it is produced by the liver. So you can probably still digest fat although it's not as efficient as before.

    I think when people suddenly change their diet and start eating different foods, they often shock the gut and get a problem like gas or even diarrhea, even constipation or some other issue. So then they decide that certain foods aren't good and they give up. Thats not the way to go about a change in diet. For example, someone watching this video might go buy and eat like 3 or 4 bananas and a head of broccoli and then get an upset stomach or even eat some kimchi and then have the squirts for a few hours. So then they don't eat those foods ever again.

    Seriously questioning Ms. Jardine's advocating that we eat unripe fruit, considering unripe fruit generally causes indigestion for obvious reasons. Surely we can eat ripe bananas and eat the other healthy things she mentions for needed fibers? Also, as other commenters have stated, the lack of clarification concerning fats, as though all fats are identical, is a problem. Most people can't just start eating high fiber and feel no strange effects in the stomach or intestine. My point was that eating under ripe fruits usually causes problems because under ripe fruits aren't ready to eat.

      It's what Johzuke says. What it is is called Digestive Resistant Starch. It doesn't get digested in the small intestine but passes into the Large Intestine where the good bacteria feed on it.

      Start with a very small amount of beans...a teaspoon or a tablespoon a day if you have to so that your body can build up the beneficial bacteria in your gut to digest the resistant starch in the beans. Even if it's a tiny amount it's important to start building those beneficial bacteria. If you can't digest beans your problem is you don't have a healthy, vigrous gut microbiome and that will be having a dramatic negative effect on your health. Focus on eating 30+ whole plant foods a day to start building those beneficial bacteria and read the book Fiber Fuelled...

    Even the least bit of kombucha gives me extreme pain in my gut. Took me a long time to realize it was triggering indigestion and ucler-like symptoms. So looking forward to healing my body with the foods mentioned!

    The doctor starts out by saying that fats are really bad -- and gives examples such as butter and lard, which are "intuitively" (to me anyway) "bad." But what about fats like extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil, etc.? Also, I could imagine that looking at more than one variable at a time might yield results such as "fats aren't bad if you do XXX" She talked about bacteria (or pieces of bacteria) permeating the gut wall, but if you have a thicker mucosal layer as a result of intermittent fasting, for example, maybe that isn't an issue. This is just a made up example, but "fats are OK if you have a thick mucosal layer which is produced by intermittent fasting" could be a legit solution. I realize this is highly speculative, but the opinion doesn't seem very nuanced and therefore may not apply to everyone.

      Olive oil is the best choice. Fats that harden at room temperature in general should be kept at a minimum or avoided ideally. All fat increases the load on the liver. So it essentially depends on your personal liver health as well.

    Start with flaxseed (it is a wonder) and do the opposite, healthy fats (not processed foods) do very well with gut bacteria. Omega 3 rich foods and prebiotics actually matter way more than probiotics. Broccoli is not at the top of the list. Start with fermented foods like Saurkraut or even Yogurt (not the ones with sugar) and yes pick up the full cream one. More green leafy vegetales and fruits in moderation, berries are best. Nuts and seeds are wonderful as well. Depends on which ones and how you prepare them.
    Throw away that pyramid that tells you to eat a whole bunch of grains please and do like the French and start with vegetables, then fats/protein then carbs and you will have a happy healthy gut (yeah it is not that simple thigh) and stop drinking that dead water, use mineral rich water and throw away that table salt.
    his is advice on gut health leaves one discombobulated. Thank God there are doctors.

    Would have been great if the interviewer asked good questions. Like what about plant fats? Is it really fat or animal proteins that cause tmao? This is pretty much an incomplete picture being painted here unfortunately.

      @@adorable3817 I’ll have to disagree with that blanket statement on the basis of seafood. Salmon and trout have poly and mono-unsaturated fats and omega 3s, vitamin D etc that are undisputedly linked to better cardiovascular health in epidemiological studies. Not saying everyone needs to eat fish/seafood, but all animal fats are not created equal and a largely plant-based diet with the addition of occasional seafood is overall an extremely healthy diet, backed by decades of peer-reviewed epidemiological studies

      @@anieee96 Omega 3 and 6 have the same receptors in the body. To increase Omega 3 absorbtion, just eat less unhealthy Omega 6. It's pretty simple 😁✌
      Walnuts have Omega 3, as do spinach, kale, cabbage and Squash.
      Vitamin D3 comes from the Sun.
      Fish don't produce it, they eat algea to get it. Why not do what the fish do, and eat the algea?
      All I'm saying is there are other options, other than killing animals.
      Plus, don't forget Bi-kill. For every pound of fish, up to 5 pounds of untsrgeted fish are caught as well. 40-50 million sharks are killed each year due to bi-kill.
      It's like feeding Vitamin A, a carrot, to a fish, and then saying fish are important food because they have Vitamin A.
