One of my mom’s favorite singers/musicians. Would listen to him in the car all the time. She saw him live here and there. I was the bearer of the unfortunate news that he had passed. Miss him. Miss my mom every day. 💕
you probably dont give a damn but does any of you know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow lost the login password. I would appreciate any help you can give me!
@Immanuel Brysen i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
From Wikipedia: Poet and Abraham Lincoln biographer Carl Sandburg writes that "Skip-to-my-Lou" was a popular party game in US President Abraham Lincoln's youth in southern Indiana, with verses such as "Hurry up slow poke, do oh do", "I'll get her back in spite of you", "Gone again, what shall I do", and "I'll get another girl sweeter than you".
Sure wish Pete would've stood closer to the mic while singing the verses, I didn't quite get what the lyrics were. This song actually pre-dates Pete Seeger, and also the modern Folk Music resurgence at the time of this recording, by some great number of years.
@@hobbygamer6220 Was I there? I don't think so! I mean that on this recording I can hardly make out what Pete is saying. And also that this song was sung in the USA by settlers and frontier folk long before Pete reprised it during the Folk Music rediscovery period he sort of is credited with introducing. Why do I say that? You can find evidence of it in archives, recordings, etc. No, Sister, no, Brother, I sure wasn't there in Frontier days. But history has left a good record.

Actually, the four kids are the little girls killed in the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing in Birmingham, 1963. This footage is years before Kent State.
My daughter is named Lou n I sing this to her my husband had never heard it. I will finally be able show him!
Simply amazing; love Pete Seeger, he was a genius, a poet and a great human being; love from Italy.

You missed the heart break of Vietnam. Count yourself lucky!
We're alive now. Be thankful, better worlds coming. People are still making music like this if you look hard enough
Excellent!

Is he the same man that sings "Daisy, Daisy", the popular terrorrific song of Tiktok? I Guess that yes because of the voice o.o
Wow!...
Is a song about going to the bathroom? Lol... That man's gonna skip to the Loo, Or maybe just skip the Loo
It means "to my left." This is an old dancing song.
@@kristinhouser3886 Lol.. I know, I'm only joking about it.. A loo is also a bathroom... And I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling..
I swear I've heard this song in a movie.
The Searchers.
Best western movie ever made.
Skip To My Lou was sung by Ken Curtis.
@@molinny I think it might of been but I’m not sure.

Not the original, but not bad either.
Poor Pete, I bet he is still lost in that Stalinist wasteland. Sad.
