This guy was a genius not only with music but his comedy along with it . Absolutely timeless . My favorite is about the Mississippi squirrel.
H s still making music
He’s still alive and preforming. Check out the most recent videos on this channel.
Me too
How can anyone not love Ray Stevens!! He's ridiculously funny, love you so much Ray.
I agree and it's just great wholesome music all around
It would be a great cellphone ringtone
Gee I don't know ask Paul Bertolino.

All of Rays songs are copied writed!
So you can't use any of his songs as your ringtone .
You,d get in trouble !!
@@jaysfunkofavorite1571 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Right, you'd get busted by the Cell Phone Police! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Ray turns 81 this year, and his wit is still as sharp as ever.
I knew he was getting up there in age but 81, OMG he won't be with us much longer, I'll lose another part of my childhood when they carry him away in that pine box.
I grew up watching his music videos. It's crazy how time flies by
He's 82 now
I didn't realize he was that age!! Still timeless
@@babswong792 he'll actually be 83 this year.
I can not believe this came out in 1969...51 years ago. I was 15 years old then and a sophomore in high school. Now that I am 66 years old senior citizen this song still makes me laugh and boogie. It also went to number #8 on the Billboard Charts in 1969.
I just love it!
this song sucks
And I’ve still got the 45!
@@itsrainingtacos2446 Who cares if you don't like it? Who are you to tell them the song sucks? If the song makes them happy, let them enjoy it, it's not hurting anybody.
Rockafire is more better of this song
I was -38 years old when this came out.
I can watch this a million times and it never gets old. FANTASTIC !!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh how I remember that song in 69 on a 45. I memorized all the words the day baught it with money I made cutting grass. It catipulted me into stardum! The 5th grade tallent show is where I made my debut lip singing Guitarzan. The choreography was top-notch, I sat up an hour past my bedtime working on it. I was the only student that received a standing ovation including the teachers.. and the rest is history... You can imagine how incredible the story has become with 53 years under my belt to perfect it! Thank you Ray
Ray Stevens is the master of catchy tunes that make you smile 😁
i remember as a 9 year old in 1984 in elementary school music class one rainy afternoon my music teacher introduced us to Ray Stevens and this was the first song i ever heard by him and i was instantly hooked it was soo funny Thank you Mrs. Benson! ive never forgotten!
Lol!!
Had a cousin that could sing this and his wife looked like Jane
My dad tried to torture me with this music in elementary school but couldn't. I liked it too much. Every time he tried to top my mother with Pink Floyd the wall, I liked it instead. Now I'm on one last isolated reunion tour before big brother finally gets me to shut up complaining about how much I hate my mother. I flew over Oz a long time ago.
The streak was very popular when I was back in school
@@yamama7265 I still remember the first day of gym class in 6th grade jr high we had to dress for Gym for the 1st time and later shower I remember a little kid name Deacon ran really fast naked through the locker room yelling "Here comes the Deacon STREAK 😆 . We all got a good laugh that day! This song always reminds me of that day !
For some reason, Ray Stevens sense of humor has always stayed the same.
I always lost it at the ,"Baaaaaby! Baaaaaby! Shut up, Baby, I'm tryin' to sing!"
😂😂😂😂 Thank you folks!
Everyone in a relationship be like
Yeah let me do my thing
I always love the "SHUT UP BABY, I'M TRYING TO SING!!" part. Always cracks me up lol
SAME! MY DAD PLAY IT ON HIS PHONE ON THE RADIO AT THE VAN! I Love How Jane Angry At Tarzan For Shouting Louder Than Her Singing. SHUT UP, BABY! I'M TRYING TO SING! Lol I Died Laughing.
Feline Fatale lololololololololololmao
Feline Fatale That was my mom’s favorite part too and when I hear it I remember her cracking up.
Me too ! This is hilarious!Jane is a good sport for becoming "homely and plain".
Same!
There really never was enough Ray Stevens to go around.
You are soooo right!
The world’s a better place because of Ray Stevens. We can all laugh.
The best uncensored comedian ever!
The world needs more of Ray Stevens!
@sportster1988 they should really do a live Performance together!
truly blue The world gets more of him each Saturday night with Caba-Ray on PBS. Check your local listings. Ray and his gang are the pride of Tennessee!
We can definitely use more of his kind of musical humour in the mainstream.
Yes we do.
More than ever.
This guy is mucho talented, can sing pop, ballads, gospel as well as novelty stuff.
In the 1960s/1970s I played in a family country-music family band. My sister was on drums, brothers were on lead and bass guitar, my mom and dad sang, and I was on the keyboards. We all sang together though and played at least every weekend in every honky tonk and bar in Alaska. This song was one the audience's favorite! My sister on drums sang as Gitarzan's girlfriend and each of us had our parts too. Another one we performed was 'Freddy Feel and His Funky Little Five-Piece Band." OMG - the people roared with laughter. Those were the days that were fun. Thanks Ray Stevens for the entertainment and laughter - I still have your vinyl albums! You're a national treasure to be sure.
In Alaska no less!!!! Give me a hand--
GITARZAN!!!!!!!
Run, Red, run!
Boogity boogity.
I love that Ray is such a Coasters fan!
My buddy and I were concert promoters back in the 80's. We once booked Ray for a gig in Kissimmee at the Osceola rodeo arena, in Florida. We're both Black, but I took on the persona of "Buck Carson". Since my partner's name was on the paperwork, he could only play his role without the "country" name. But "Buck", was a University of Houston "Soil Science" major.
We had the cowboy hats, heavy Texas, accents and everything, even rented two horses. When we went to sign the final deal with Ray, just before the concert, he and his band didn't know what to make of these two 20 something Black Cowboys who loved country music and rode around arena on horseback. I STILL have the visual of how Ray looked us up and down in our cowboy outfits. It was and still is hilarious....
When he took and break, I think he thought it would be funny to introduce us as the promoters of his "sold-out" concert. When we rode in on horses and the crowd saw us, they went SILENT!!!! It was drizzling rain and a little cool for Florida, but to his credit, Ray put on a helluva show and didn't flinch. I must say that he's a true professional, in every sense of the word and a consummate showman. Wonder does Ray remember ole' Buck Carson after all these years? LOL
Great story, Buck.
@@barrys4922 Thank ya' partner!!
With all the problems and hatred in this country right now, we NEED more Ray Stevens. Just silly, feel good fun and music.

I love to listen to Ray at home because my Paw Paw listened to him in the car and people looked at us like we were crazy riding around laughing. That Joe Rogan show with the monkey is funny. The dude that played Tarzan probably loved this song.

I got a 45 of this song when I was about 10. I played it so much my mom took it away till I was nearly 15. I found it in the kitchen cupboard behind some dishes.
He's always cracked me up!!!
Thank you Ray!
Thanks for the MIles Of Smiles that come from Your MUsic on LIfe Circumstances!!
My dad introduced me to Ray Stevens a couple years ago. I just bought one of his CDs to play in my pickup truck yesterday, and I had a couple friends riding with me so I slapped it on in there and they had never heard anything like it. Once Ray got started they were havin' a blast. we cruised around town with our windows down just listening to it havin' a good laugh. I'll never forget that night, Its so sad that hes starting to get old, there's nobody else like ol' Ray Stevens.

Feels like it WAS the stone age the last time I heard this. Thank you Ray, good times. Good times indeed.
G-TARZAN was a huge radio hit down here in Mexico and ALONG CAME JONES too! Both were and still are quite chatchy and lyrics hold a very imaginative and innocent depth as well. Nice pop musical journey to you!
