  • For this session I am going over concepts on how to integrate the Akai MPC Live mk2 (will work with the One and the X as well) to integrate with a Eurorack Modular setup.
Here we cover how to get a clock and reset cv outputs from the MPC out to Pamela's New Workout so that we can keep our MPC Live tracks in sync with any content that we play on the Eurorack.

The problem is reset gets sent every time the bar loops. It seems like there is absolutely no way to get the MPC to only send the reset when you press play.
Hacks are song mode with 1st sequence having reset and 2nd sequence not. (cant live record this way)
Make the sequence long so it never loops, again cant easily record and move around in sequences.
If I have a midi device in my rack try to turn start trigger into reset it will correctly send only one reset but the mpc will be one beat ahead so looping wont line up
I'm honestly just about ready to move on from having the MPC part of my Eurorack setup.
I have to manually mute reset before the bar loops otherwise modules with slow dividers get reset far too often.
We really truly need to get support for sending a single reset when the play button is pressed.

Yeah, it's not perfect, but I'm not doing generally doing things with it (at this time) that require a sync on the start of a song.
On the MPC you could create a reset track that is 128 bars though, and not have it tied to the length of the sequence by changing the Track "LEN" from SEQ to whatever length you want, up to 999 bars... that *hopefully* is long enough.

@@NearTao Haven't heard that one, but I work around it by using my Poly Hector and the midi clock in -> is_running() -> difference A (B set to 1.0) -> Rectified to positive.
That gives me a perfect reset output that goes high whenever the MPC is stopped and goes low the instant I press start. Only way it stays on beat that I have found.

It's a year later... has this been fixed?

@@VincentsVideoVisions kinda, I had multiple variables at play.
The mpc doesnt do start or reset in my setup anymore. But I found out one of my modules (euclidean circles v2), had a setting for rising vs falling edge reset detection.
The mpc could have worked using the midi device that sends reset if I knew about the falling/rising setting. After changing that the 1-beat off problem went away.
I still know of no way to only send reset on starting.
