Chris is right about Vince adjusting and improving on the ideas presented, but that was a different time, where there were less restrictions and not have to worry about the shareholders and investors. The best was about wrestling, storylines and people were able to be themselves. Nowadays, everything is scripted, and promos are written well in advance and only a select few have their own material. Also making it PG trying to relate to kids, is the wrong way to go about things. Back in the 90s, we didn't have so many options to media, videogames, entertainment , so of course the viewership was up with ratings above 4 , and it was fun to watch back then and competition made it strive to get better, but after Vince took assets from WCW & ECW , they didn't have a big rival, so they played it safe and made it more about money .
I would disagree with the turning the idea into a great one with a slight adjustment… Chris wouldn’t have ever thought to suggest that because he was new to the promotion, didn’t know where on the card he would be and would essentially be asking the owner to give him air time and rub on the companies top baby face promo… Vince has the luxury of calling all the shots so whatever he wants goes and that’s why people believe he has the best ideas… I see this all the time in corporate business… the big boss has the best idea… it’s hardly ever true, it’s just that the higher level stakeholder is allowed to know more about the business so can use this as leverage over others to make it seem like he is more intelligent etc it’s definitely not always the case! I bet if you asked Chris when the countdown clock should end and you can literally pick any moment, he would have came up with something similar, my guess would be literally during a match with the two top wrestlers, after his promo baby face loses through distraction and this cements him as major heel… it isn’t rocket science at all🤷🏽♂️
That line of Vince saying that he wishes he could get away sometimes was pretty strong. It's true that Vince is absolutely necessary and irreplaceable every single day to that company. He cannot get away. It reminds me of my own dad talking about how he wishes he could take a step back from his own companies at times and just can't because he knows (not think, but knows) that the company will suffer without him always being there. It is a really tough thing to run a company and most people nowadays really don't know that. Rubbing something as massive as the WWE, I couldn't even imagine.

@@mikephillips1043 Are you serious? You do not believe the victims of sexual assault, even when somebody paid millions of dollar to keep people quite? Did you learn nothing from the me too movement?
I can see two sides to this story. 1) It's not illegal, there was a mutual NDA signed by both parties to not speak about the event. 2) It's an abuse of power, while not illegal it still could violate the company's bylaws and the board could suggest resignation. Of course, if the supreme boss of a company shows he's into you, you don't say no and turn down advances. You can get fired, demoted, or you could take a pay cut if you did so. These are all very real considerations. Even if your boss wants to go out for an innocent lunch, you don't say no, or at least 90% of people wouldn't say no. However, this wasn't lunch, it was an affair from a boss to an employee with a very real power dynamic at play. It's not like Vince did anything horrifying or violent or blatantly illegal. But, abuse of power, especially when divulged to the public, is a real problem. That's why Vince stepped down temporarily, because he realizes this isn't just a small thing. We'll see what happens.
So to be fair, let’s just say he’s just a human being with flaw. From everyone that talked about him bad or good, all i hear is a Professional. He puts the company above himself. Even though it took his other value.

I was a huge Jericho fan in WCW. That Cruiserwieght division was STACKED. When he came to WWF I was wondering how the crowd would take him. He ended up being one of the few WCW guys to get himself over. I loved him as a heel, as a face etc. Now he is a bit lazy in AEW doing the hardcore stuff but he is always on point with the mic & the new character creations. Sadly he hasnt whipped those kids into shape but rather adapted to their style of mud show wrestling.
Love hearing these nuggets of insider knowledge - especially from a guy like Jericho. Think he was right about the McMahon scandal too. The only way he's fired is if the WWE board think keeping him around will lose them too many fans...and I would hazard a guess most don't care that much. He's the bad guy they like to boo anyway...this will just add to that.
I think chris is right when he says, Vincr can make ideas great. He rarely created something out of his own that was great, but he upgraded a lot of stuff with his influence so much. If you think about it many guys claimed that they were unhappy with where they are and wanted to change something BUT came with a good idea to him. Jericho, Stone Cold, Macho man did that for other guys i think, HHH, Cena. He can upgrade but rarely create on his own
I like how even though he's not with WWE anymore he has Vince on speed dial and if he ever texts Vince, he always replies back to him. Chris said since signing with AEW he still keeps In contact with Vince.
It's nice to hear someone credit another with some praise, even though there is enough criticism to go around. We can say all the things we want when it comes to Vince McMahon but there's a reason why he has survived in this business for almost 40 years.

My thoughts exactly, I didn’t think any of this was gonna do anything bad for Vince but than that one report where he coerced a former women’s wrestler into sexual acts and didn’t renew her contract when she didn’t want to continue it. That’s the only actual bad account from the ones reported. Because having an an affair and paying them to not share the affair isn’t illegal. But forcing someone to do sexual acts for a career push is probably illegal. Like blackmail.
But it likely isnt true. The dude is a billionaire and this chick comes at him 13yrs later. That lie could cost 100s of millions in losses for the company or just pay 7mil to stop the lie and no one knows and its nothing. Thats why actors and athletes get accused all the time you fuck them they claim rape you say consensual and people say believe all women. They didn't settle until me too was a thing. What was illegal was he used company money to pay her. Chris is such an idiot these days. He just said Vince was going no where, 2 weeks later Vince retires...
Isn’t it illegal b/c it is a publicly traded company and he paid her off with shareholders money by giving her a job title and 3 million dollar raise?? Or did he pay her off with his PERSONAL money? There is a huge difference
So I am not sure if the payoff will be the major issue, it’s if he was paying people off to avoid sexual harassment allegations. Like the first one that came out doesn’t seem like that but some of the leaks from Friday do seem like they would fall in that category. Also as it’s the board who is investigating and not the government, it seems like the women didn’t file a sexual harassment claim. However if the board finds that there is a culture of sexual harassment then they could release Vince as a way to protect the company from possible lawsuits in the future.
I've seen too that it was personal in account to the 3 million, but I'm sure they're investigating any of the allegations that took place after WWE went public
there's something erie hearing Chris say "is it morally right? absolutely not" (2:00) but then saying ten seconds later "it doesn't really matter in the long run". well it does... people are trying to hold McMahon accountable so that it makes a point that boss's shouldn't be trying to use their position irresponsibly. saying it's wrong then going back and just letting the actions slide just enables other people to do it. "Vince and Weinstein got away with it, so I can too" He is right saying there was a signed deal of some kind... but in the article it say the lady was fired after a declined meetings with Vince. So she losses her actual job because Vince couldn't get his nut ??? that's abuse of power
Well I imagine he certainly isn’t on his FAMILIES good side at all. I read a rumor that Vince & Linda have be quietly separated for some time. And it’s definitely a good thing that Shane has established himself in other businesses, so that WWE isn’t his only venture. Plus after all the news on Vince, I can imagine Shane especially, or Stephanie, making sure Vince is being careful of what he’s teaching the grandkids. Vince has seriously dug himself a deep hole mentally & emotionally…because money solve everything…if that were the case, he’d he broke right now.
Jericho is right, that paying somebody off isn't illegal on it's own, but the allegations include that he used company money rather than his own, personal money, which would be "legally complicated and/or illegal". That's because of the shareholders, and all of that stuff.
Jericho is sucking up to stay in Vince's good graces because he also has demons in his closet, anyone remember the women's wrestler that came out with things about Jericho in the locker room?
There was always something odd about Jericho, same with matt hardy, these guys have like a strange cloud over their head. jericho is a creep and a politician
If Vince used personal money instead of Company money to pay them this wouldn't have been brought up. The reason this is as big of a deal as it has gotten is because WWE is publicly traded and using company funds to pay for your personal problems effects the stockholders and the company.
I loooove Jericho. Legend without question....but my goodness was this a "make Vince great again" PR pitch. An owner who runs a company for 40years but then starts doing poorly for the last 10 years needs too know when to back off. A looooong time ago Vince should have realised that the creative mind needs to go to someone else and he take more of a back seat. A lot of other interviews by wrestlers and tbh the product itself for the past 10years or so just doesn't really back whats been said here.
Lol you're more angry about Vince's booking than you are him allegedly being a rapist. That confirms my theory that smarks only want Vince taken down because they're unhappy with the onscreen product. It has fuckall to do with morals, if Vince was putting on the greatest TV in history all this would be getting swept under the rug.
Somebody should have explained to Jericho that Vince was using WWF's/WWEs money to pay these women off with, which means Jericho & every other WWF/WWE wrestler & talent was paying off these women, by the way, it is illegal.
When I was six years old I turned on the tv and saw pedro Morales vs iron mike McCord and the grand wizard I was hooked. Vince sr. And vince jr. I will always stand behind them I had alot of ups and downs. But wrestling was always there

We didn’t find anything out. Everything is “alleged”. We don’t have proof yet.
You can’t just take someone unknown persons word as fact. That’s just dumb.
I bet if you asked Chris when the countdown clock should end and you can literally pick any moment, he would have came up with something similar, my guess would be literally during a match with the two top wrestlers, after his promo baby face loses through distraction and this cements him as major heel… it isn’t rocket science at all🤷🏽♂️
Jericho: “Is anything gonna happen out of this? I don’t think so”
A month later, Vince is forced to retire!
Gotta love Jericho, he says it as it is
That line of Vince saying that he wishes he could get away sometimes was pretty strong.

@@Spiessi92 he’s accused of paying off his mistresses not raping them
@@JohnSmith-fd4wi there have been new alligations that have been reported on in different sources. Here is one line about it.
"One woman, a former wrestler, said that McMahon “coerced her into giving him oral sex and then demoted her and, ultimately, declined to renew her contract in 2005 after she resisted further sexual encounters.” She agreed to a $7.5 million pact in ’18, per the report, when she and her lawyer approached the CEO, and, in return, she stayed silent about the incident."
Forcing somebody of trying to force somebody into oral sex is atleast sexual assault, if he would have succeded it would be rape.

Not wwe just aew fans
I mean WWE and Vince have been so good to Chris in his life. Its loyalty at the end of the day. Thats home.
Just like the WCW vs WWE wars.
Huh?
I could listen to Jericho all day big up the geordie for getting him on the show

He can upgrade but rarely create on his own
It's funny hearing him talk about the Evian bottle because he literally did something similar with "the List of Jericho".

She was obviously fishing for money at that point. If it happened there would be police reports and tons of people would be like yeah she told me in 07 or something but nope. Isn’t it illegal b/c it is a publicly traded company and he paid her off with shareholders money by giving her a job title and 3 million dollar raise?? Or did he pay her off with his PERSONAL money? There is a huge difference
Yes if it's publicly traded stakeholder money, that's a white collar crime.
Personal money not shareholders money
All the reports so far say it was his personal money

Vince deserves a pass.. he’s made millions of people happy for year after year..bout time someone repaid him 🧐
If Vince used personal money instead of Company money to pay them this wouldn't have been brought up.
