This is my cup of tea. Neo-Classic, clear and well made (not that I don't like other things). Thanks for the upload. Bravo GF Malipiero.

This is also a tribute to the highest level of musicianship and professionalism of Peter Maag who brings these neglected pieces to life with astonishing strength, deftness and true mastery. The concertmaster of the Filarmonia Veneta, John Calabrese, a New Yorker, should also be singled out for his fine solo passages. A good person and fine musician noted by Leonard Bernstein, years earlier and specializing in Viola d'amore. This was recorded in 1991. I was charged with the first reading through of these pieces with the orchestra as Maag's assistant.

Hello Paul. Thanks a lot for your comment. As a simple listener I would tend to agree with you, Mr Maag's skills make these pieces shine (but as I greatly admire Maag and love listening to Malipiero, I might be biased). I would be very very curious to hear what was the impression the pieces left on you upon your first reading.

Scary to think of what dormant powers or feelings may be sparked after meditating on this piece.

The title is rather technical, and at the same time hints at J.S.Bach, but there is no "return to" in these pages. They are rather capricious, written in a neoclassic language. They are very pleasnt to hear, and exhibit no academic or doctrinal character. They are free, inventive as the title suggests.
