I think I have or had Mitropoulos' 1950s recording of this (and maybe Almeida's also) (Mitropoulos' from the LP, since reissued on CD). The older recording is better than Almeida's in my opinion - but more recordings of all his symphonies, works in general, would be a good thing. Anyhow, thanks much!

Dignified...That's the first word that comes to my mind to describe the tone of this work of art. Holding images of long ago in my imagination, the first time I heard this piece come to an end was epiphany-like. 22:45
