You know those percussionists. They communicate by hitting stuff with sticks. Best to have them in a booth.
Sound engineers like it clean: one instrumented per microphone. The really good ones will even tell you what type of microphone to use or not to use for a particular instrument (it's an art form apparently). The problem with drums is that they come through on every single microphone in the studio. If you want them on a separate channel to have full control over them during mixing you have to put them in a separate soundproof booth.
The arrangement on this collaboration is so perfect; the Pixies fit in so smoothly it was like it was meant to be. Great work!

Yes! That is a very concise description of how I experience this one too... I think it partly is due to the mixing: the bass is very quiet in this one. Interesting!
I feel like a lot of Pomplamoose's music is "pastel" and detached, even when they're high energy. I still love it though, bust your kneecaps is one of my favourites. The internet is awesome is another good one.

This is one of those songs I can only listen to maybe two or so times a day, man. It just pulls so much emotion out of me, specifically the build-up from crush lyrics to the "oooo-ooooo" straight into the adele song... It's just too much to bear but in the most wonderful of ways. I'll definitely have to test out this theory, though.
